The common feature of Chinese and Japanese idioms is that they have a second meaning hidden beneath the literal meaning, which is the hidden meaning, and animals are closely related to us. Therefore, several representative dog idioms are taken as the main research objects. This article mainly analyzes dog idioms from the perspective of cognitive linguistics, using the theory of con-ceptual integration. The aim is to analyze how dog idioms change from fixed meaning to well-known hidden meaning through the construction mode of conceptual integration network and the concepts of metaphor and metonymy involved, and to present the process more clearly. At the same time, it is hoped that this can also help people increase their interest in the application of conceptual inte-gration theory in idioms.
