改写理论视角下赛珍珠版《水浒传》人物诨名英译研究

摘要 《水浒传》一书文学地位崇高、文化内涵丰厚,书中人物个性鲜明,各自诨名形象贴切,属文化负载词范畴,具有重要研究价值。国内学者对该书赛珍珠版英译本All Men Are Brothers的研究层出不穷,然其间不足亦彰明较著:研究力度有所不足,体现为核心论文数量偏少、研究重点多放在对赛版的道德评判上,论证模式普遍存在以偏概全的缺陷。本文从改写理论入手,以批判思维客观正视该书人物诨名英译研究存在的实际弊端,并以此为范例探究以求规避中国古典文学外译中存在的一般性问题,进而助推中华优秀作品外译、中华文化核心精神对外传播。 With high literary status and rich cultural connotations, the classic literary work, All Men Are Brothers is famous for its numbers of characters with strong personality as well as their distinctive names, which belong to culture-loaded words and deserve studies. Domestic scholars have con-ducted numerous studies on the English translation of All Men Are Brothers by Pearl S. Buck, but there are also numerous shortcomings, mainly reflected in insufficient research efforts (with a small number of core papers), too much focus on moral evaluation of the translation by Pearl S. Buck, and there is a common flaw in the argumentation model, which is that it is biased and generalizable. This paper is written under the guidance of rewriting theory and aims to examine the drawbacks of the study on the English translation of character nicknames in the book All Men Are Brothers through critical thinking, and uses this as an example to explore and avoid the general problems of translating Chinese classical literature into foreign languages, thereby benefiting the foreign com-munication of excellent Chinese cultural works and boosting the external dissemination of the core spirit of Chinese culture.
