A Study on the English Translation of Myth Archetypes in Jiuge

《九歌》是《楚辞》的第二篇,是一组关于中国上古神话的浪漫主义作品。在《楚辞》相关研究中,《九歌》因其神话色彩备受中外译者青睐。本文将选取美国汉学家宇文所安(Stephen Owen)、英国汉学家大卫•霍克思(Hawkes, D.)、国内译者许渊冲和杨宪益戴乃迭夫妇的译本为例,探讨《九歌》中神话原型的英译问题及相关讨论。

Jiuge, the second chapter of Chuci, is a set of romantic works about ancient Chinese myths. In the related research of Chuci, Jiuge has been favored by Chinese and foreign translators for its myths. This paper will take the translations by Stephen Owen from United State, David Hawkes from Brit-ain, and domestic translators Xu Yuanchong, Yang Xianyi and his wife Dai Naidie as examples to ex-plore the English translation and discussions of myth archetypes in Jiuge.
