Translators play an important role in the boom of Chinese online novels going overseas. When translating this kind of “subliterature”, the strategic idea of promoting Chinese culture to go abroad and the requirement of the client to improve the readability of the text are in conflict because of the existence of culture-loaded words, and the translator’s handling of culture-loaded words becomes a big problem. In the face of this difficulty, using the Skopos theory to guide the translation of culture-loaded words in online novels can break free from the translator’s cultural identity, provide a feasible solution to the idea of translating culture-loaded words, and bring some thoughts to other researchers. Under the guidance of the Skopos theory, combined with the practical content, this paper analyses the culturally loaded information appearing in the text, and discusses how to flexibly use various translation methods to translate the culture-loaded words in network novels.
