Chinese classical poetry, characterized by profound imagery and unique rhythm, presents a significant challenge in translation. The principle of Three Beauties in translation introduces the concept of “beauty” into the translation of poems, and aims to capture the aesthetic essence of the poems. This study uses the principle of Three Beauties to analyze and compare two English translations of Qingzhao Li’s poem A Twig of Mume Blossoms from the perspectives of sound, form, and meaning to feel the beauty of the translations and explore its implications and applications in the field of poetry translation. The research reveals that due to the high untranslatability of poetry, achieving absolute unity in sound, form, and meaning in translation practice is difficult. However, the principle of Three Beauties offers a new standard for poetry translation, facilitating the further development of Chinese poetry translation.
