汉谚英译的认知识解研究

A Cognitive Construal Study of English Translation of Chinese Proverbs

认知翻译学的兴起为翻译研究提供了新视角、新范式。本文着眼于译者翻译过程,以认知语法中的识解理论为工具,对汉语谚语英译本的认知识解进行考察,总结其背后的认知动因。经研究发现,翻译过程是原作者与译者认知之间的互动,译者的认知识解成为连接原文和译文的中介;详略度、视角和突显等识解维度为汉语谚语的翻译过程研究提供了新视角。汉英母语者在识解方式上存在一定差异,其与汉英语言的思维、规约和文化密切相关。创造性的识解转换体现在使用各种翻译技巧的灵活翻译活动中,以尽可能地符合译文读者的认知模式,提高译文的可读性。

Cognitive translatology provides a new perspective and paradigm for translation studies. This article focuses on the translator’s translation process, adopts the construal theory of cognitive grammar to investigate the cognitive construal in the English translation of Chinese proverbs, and summarizes the cognitive motivations behind them. It is found that the translation process is the interaction between the original author’s and the translator’s cognition, and the translator’s cognitive construal becomes the intermediary connecting the source text and the target text. The dimensions of construal, such as specificity, salience and perspective, provide new perspectives for the study of the translation process of Chinese proverbs. Chinese and English native speakers have certain differences in the way of construal, which is closely related to the minds, conventions and cultures of Chinese and English languages. The creative construal shifts are reflected in the flexible translation activities with various translation techniques, so as to fit the cognitive mode of the target readers and improve the readability of the target texts.
