Dream of the Red Chamber is a pearl in the history of Chinese literature, with detailed content and exquisite language. Especially in poetry, not only does it achieve a flat rhyme, but also every word. While reflecting allusions, it also reflects the character colors of the characters, and Ode to the Five Beauties is one of them. Defamiliarization as an effect and a form of expression has also attracted more and more attention. The preservation of the defamiliarization effect is helpful to describe the dual identity of the translator and the cultural creator and the translator’s translation practice. The purpose of this paper is to explore the allusion translation strategy adopted by Yang Xianyi’s translation of Ode to the Five Beauties, deepen the understanding of the translation community on the effect of defamiliarization, promote Chinese culture, and help Chinese culture go global.
