The article explores the evolution of female appellations on social media and the underlying socio-cultural dynamics. The study finds that female appellations are more abundant and change more rapidly compared to male appellations. The evolution of female appellations not only reflects societal expectations and stereotypes of women but also reveals how women respond to social expectations and maintain their identities in the digital age. Starting from the perspective of linguistic relativity, the article analyzes the metaphors and objectification in female appellations, as well as the construction of female appellations under male-dominated discourse. In addition, the article discusses the passive resistance of women through self-assigned appellations and how this behavior reflects the increase in women’s social participation and self-awareness. Finally, the article points out that although women have made certain progress in the power of discourse, they still face challenges in adapting to male aesthetics and standards.
