This paper summarizes Professor He Yufeng’s clinical experience in treating lumbar disc herniation using the method of cervical and lumbar joint treatment based on the concept of a holistic view of the spine. In clinical practice, lumbar disc herniation results in clinical symptoms such as low back pain, numbness and weakness in the lower limbs due to stimulation and compression of the nerve root where the protruding segment of the lumbar spine is located. Cervical and lumbar co-treatment refers to the treatment of both the cervical and lumbar vertebrae, which are siblings of each other. Problems in one segment can affect another segment. In clinical diagnosis and treat-ment, both the cervical and lumbar vertebrae are treated simultaneously. Professor He Yufeng proposed the combination of neck and waist treatment and acupuncture and massage therapy for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation, which is beneficial for improving the compression of lum-bar nerve roots, restoring the physiological curvature of the spine, increasing the circulation of qi and blood in the human body, effectively treating lumbar disc herniation, and improving the quality of life of patients. It is worth promoting in clinical practice.
