周仲铮的自传《小舟》是其代表作,作品展现了“五四”时期一位少女在中国大家庭中的成长经历。自传不仅是个人历史的自述,更是作者对自我身份的建构和阐释。通过自传事实的选择和解读,周仲铮在《小舟》中塑造了追求自由、勇于抗争的自我形象。《小舟》中的自我身份是多维度的,不同时空下的“我”的关系折射出作者对自我的理解。同时,周仲铮作为海外华人所处的社会文化语境影响了其自传的身份建构,使她的自传写作成为异质文化语境下自我表达的一种方式,具有反抗海外华人女性在文化和性别上双重边缘地位的意义。
As one of Chow Chung-cheng’s most well-known works, the autobiography Kleine Sampan demonstrates the growing experience of a young girl in the traditional Chinese big family during “May Fourth” period. Autobiography writing is the self-narration of personal history, and it is also a process of constructing and interpreting the self-identity. In Kleine Sampan, Chow Chung-cheng created a Self by selection and interpretation of autobiographical facts, which pursues freedom and fight bravely. The self-identity in Kleine Sampan is multidimensional and the different “selves” in different time and space reflect the author’s self-interpretation. Meanwhile, the construction of self-identity in the autobiography is under the influence of socio-cultural context that Chow Chung-cheng wrote. Chow’s Autobiography writing can be viewing a way of self-expression in a hybrid cultural context and resisting the dual marginalization of overseas Chinese women both in culture and gender.
