This article tries to trace back the real scenes of A Tale of Two Cities to show the complicated ethical knots between the characters and their violent conflicts. With the abrupt turning fates of the characters, Charles Dickens tries to illustrate the basic types of violent conflict and the crisis of moral values. With the final uttering words of Darnay, he expresses his thinking and understanding on the abuses of powers happened in the French Revolution.
