Michael shaped several female images in this novel, including patriarchal rebels represented by Scarlett and submissive women represented by Melaine and Ellen. Both the two kinds of women and nature are hurt by the war. Women and nature in this novel have not only similar characteristics but also the same tragic fate. This essay will explore the relationship between nature and women in the novel from an ecofeminist perspective, as well as the tragic fates of the two kinds of women, Scarlett, and Melaine and Ellen.
