The purpose of this study is to examine how board games can help low achievers reduce their fear of learning English, enhance their enjoyment and interest in learning English, encourage engagement in learning, and help them develop learning success and soft skills by reducing the fear of learning English. To determine whether board games are acceptable, feasible and effective for teachers and students and if they can be implemented in Macao. Based on Macao’s basic academic requirements, teaching objectives and contents, the researcher designs teaching games that are helpful for students’ learning, implements table games for a total of 8 weeks, and conducts board games in English intensive classes. Data were collected through observation, feedback from students and interest scales, teaching reflections, and photographs. This study demonstrated that board games design was successfully integrated into the English classroom;the use of the table games in the English classroom was highly positive among low achievers in Primary 4. The design of the board games was subject to implementation constraints, and peer support and resources from schools and education-related departments were required to facilitate implementation.
