On the lnitial Consonant System of Chaoshan Dialect in the Middle of 19th Century——from English-Chinese Vocabulary of the Vernalular or spoken Language of Swatow

文章从音节配合上分析《汕头白话英华对照词典》的21个声母系统,对比现代潮汕方言,探讨19世纪中叶潮汕方言声母及[b、l、g]与[m、n、?]的分布及演变。

Based on the syllable-combination analysis of 21 consonant systemsin Bilingual Dictionary of Shantou Dialect, this paper compares modern Chaoshan dialect and explores the distribution as well as evolution of Chaozhou dialect's initials, [b, l, g] and [m, N, n] in the mid nineteenth century.
