When the same image emerges in the writers' works of different cultural background, it must have their own cultural imprint. The similarities and differences between eastern and Western civilizations are discussed through the similarities and differences of the images of the windows in Dream of Red Mansion and Jane Eyre.In ancient China, the "connection" of the window was emphasized, while in the West its "separation" was highlighted: Ancient Chinese people attached great importance to the decorative function of windows, whereas Westerners paid more attention to their practical value.Nevertheless, the custom of combining the window with poetic and elegant life style seems to be consistent between China and the west.
