Preliminary Report on Treatment of Children's Scoliosis by Luque's Operation——Its procedure, advantages, disadvantages and complications

Lnque手术或称节段性脊柱器械矫正术,也称L-形杠器械矫正术(L-rod ins trumentation-LKI).

Since February 1985,the author has adopted Luque's operation in the treatment of children's scoliosis with satisfactory results.The author gives a description of the the basic surgical skill.Taking complications,especially neural injuries,into consideration,the author also discusses the operative indications,and compares this technique with Harrington's operation.Measures to prevent damage to the nerves are given which include preparation of the wire and meticulous passage of sublaminar wire to avoid direct contusion of the spinal cord and any push or pull on the nerve roots.In addition,decision on the desired correction degrees prior to the operation is essential in averting stretching damage to the spinal cord.
