During the cold war,the relationship between India and Saudi Arabia was very icy due to the bipolar structure and Pakistan. After the cold war,the relations between the two countries began to improve, and speed up after 9·11. This is mainly because both sides have adjusted their foreign policy, and they hope to strengthen economic and trade exchanges, enhance energy cooperation, fight against terrorism and promote human resources cooperation. In addition,India also hopes to strengthen the relationship with Saudi Arabia to balance the impact of Pakistan in the Islamic world and negative publicity for India. The main obstacles affecting the relationship between the two countries have disappeared or gradually fade; the future of bilateral relations will continue to heat up.
