鲸川与鲸海小考:古代东亚图籍中的日本海——韩日有关日本海/东海名称争议的中国视角

A Study on the Whale River and the Sea of Whale:the Sea of Japan in ancient East Asian literature and cartographies——Korean-Japanese debates over its name viewed from Chinese perspectives

近年来,韩国一直在努力要求国际社会将日本海的名称改为“东海”.清末以前,中国长期是日本海/东海沿岸国家,我国历史文献与图籍中有关日本海的记载勘称丰富.自公元5-6世纪至15世纪,这片海域曾先后被称为小海、北海与南海、辽海与东海、及鲸川之海或鲸海,并被标注在《混一疆理历代国都之图》上.

In recent years, Korea has tried to persuade the international society to use the term of the "East Sea" instead of the "Sea of Japan". In fact, before the late Qing period, China had been one of the nations around the Sea of Japan for centuries, therefore rich sources in Chinese literature and cartographies can be found. From the 5th and the 6th centuries till the 15 th century, this water area had been named as the Minor Sea, the North Sea & the South Sea, the Sea of Lao and the East Sea and the Sea of Whale or the Sea of the Whale River separately, and the last name appeared on the famous Korean map entitled Konrido of the 15 th century.
