摘要
Twenty years ago the term 'biobanking' was used infrequently to describe a set of activities relating to the collection of biological material within a limited scope of actions. However, the creation of high-profile projects of international significance and with multiple contributors often at very different locations and contexts, such as the Human Genome Project, brought forward the realization that a set of biobanking best practices was required that would procure research-ready tissues of high quality, reproducibility, and comparability.
