As a part of the systematical investigation of the phase relationships of the Zn-Al base alloys,decomposi- tion of the supersaturated phase β_S in a eutectoid Zn-Al-Cu-Si alloy was studied by hardness testing,opti- cal,electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction.Com- pared to the monotectoid Zn-Al-Cu-Si alloy,a similar sequence of decomposition was found to consist of three stages of phase transformation,which were in accordance to various equilibrium reactions at the temperatures above the ageing temperatures. 展开更多

The microstructure and tensile properties of Al_4C_3 dispersion strengthened Al composite fabricated by reaction milling technique were investigated.It is indicated that the rod-like Al_4C_3 dispersoids having a diameter of 0.02-0.03 μm and a length of 0.1-0.3μm are formed by reaction of C with Al, and uniformly distributed in the Al matrix.The interface between Al_4C_3 and Al is clean and the interfacial bonding is good.The matrix consists of the subgrains which have the size of 0.3-0.4μm, and most of the Al_4C_3 dispersoids are distributed on the subgrain boundaries.The 11 vol.-% Al_4C_3/Al composite exhibits an UTS (ultimate tensile strength) of 400 MPa and an elongation-to-failure of 8.0%. 展开更多

The origin of low ductility at elevated tempera- ture in the cryogenic and non-magnetic steel Fe-23Mn-4Al-5Cr-0.3C was investigated by means of impact test at elevated temperatures,opti- cal microscope,SEM and TEM.The experimental results indicate that the impact toughness lowers with increasing testing temperature,and exhibits a low trough of ductility from 865℃ to 1050℃ and a peak value at 1150℃.The intergranular fracture occurs in the temperature region of low ductility and the transgranular ductile rupture below this re- gion principally.There is a process of precipitating, gathering,growing,and dissolution of carbide (FeMnCr)_(23)C_6 and AlN between 500℃ and 1000℃.The coalescence of microvoids caused by the process at grain boundaries results in the intergranular fracture and the low ductility at ele- vated temperatures. 展开更多

An investigation has been made of the disloca- tion distribution and dislocation free zone near the crack tip in bulk Fe-3% Si single crystal during deformation in SEM.It has been found that a number of dislocations were emitted from the crack tip during deformation.After that,the dislocations moved rapidly away from the crack tip,which indi- cated that they were strongly repelled by the stress field at the crack tip.Between the crack tip and the plastic zone there is a region of dislocation-free, which is referred to as dislocation-free zone (DFZ). The length of DFZs is roughly estimated 100 μm which is much longer than that found in thin foil specimen.The variation of dislocation density as a function of the distance from the crack tip was measured,which showed that the dislocations are inversely piled up in the plastic zone.The length of DFZs increased with both the length of pre-crack and the amplitude of applied stress. 展开更多

The structure and electric properties of the mixed conductors of Li_(1+x)V_3O_8(x=0.1) containing dispersed second-phase α-Al_2O_3 particles have been studied in the paper. The total conductivity of the specimen containing 6m/o α-Al_2O_3 is five or six times as much as that of pure Li_(1+x)V_3O_8 (x=0.1) at room temperature. By the analyses of NMR and ESR, it is known that at low temperature, the transport activation energy of Li^+ ions reduced, the transport frequency of Li^+ ions are speeded up and thus ionic conductivity increased in the specimens containing α-Al_2O_3 particles. At high temperature, diffusion effect of α-Al_2O_3 on electronic transport becomes great, the enhancement of ionic conductivity caused by α-Al_2O_3 doesn't make up the decrease of electronic conductivity caused by the diffusion effect, so that total conductivity of the specimens containing DSPP is lower than that of pure Li_(1+x)V_3O_8(x=0.1). As a result, DSPP mainly increases ionic conductivity of the mixed conductors at room temperature. 展开更多

The relationship between the high-frequency magnetic properties and surface structure of the amorphous [Co_(0.94-x)Fe_(0.06)(MnMo)_x]_(77)(SiB)_(23) alloys annealed at 400-500℃ then control-cooled was investigated using XRD,TEM and XPS techniques.The results have shown that the high-frequency losses of the present alloys ob- viously reduced after suitable treatment.A crystalline layer with ultrafine grains of γ-Co formed on the surface of the amorphous ribbons.The size of the grains is 10-20 nm.The thickness of the layer is less than 0.1 μm.The sur- face of the crystalline layer is covered with an extremely thin oxide film which is very uniform and dense with thickness of less than 30 nm,the size of grains of the oxide is less than 10 nm.These ultrafine grains and the dense oxide film effectively refine the magnetic domains and increase the resistance of the layers of the magnetic core,consequently the losses at high frequency are fairly reduced. 展开更多

A study has been made of the fatigue crack growth in an Al-Li alloy 2091 in 3.5%NaCl solu- tion and at an elevated temperature of 130℃.The aging and environmental effects on the crack growth behaviour were examined.It is shown that the fatigue crack growth resistance decreases with aging.The specimen with underaged structures shows the highest resistance to fatigue crack growth due to more deflected crack paths and the resulting high crack closure levels.As compared to laborato- ry air,both 3.5% NaCl solution and elevated tem- perature of 130℃ cause an increase of near-thresh- old crack growth rates and a decrease of threshold levels.The elevated temperature is more effective. The effect of elevated temperature is mainly due to the precipitate coarsening which results in an enhancement of slip irreversibility.Hydrogen embritttlement is supposed to be responsible for the degradation of fatigue crack growth resistance in 3.5%NaCl solution 展开更多

The quench transfomation in a Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al near B-titanium alloy was studied by means of X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and optical micyoscopy. The quenching temperatures were above and below the β transus temperature. The phase constitutions of specimens quenched from various solution temperatures were identified and the phase morphologies were examined. In addition, the relationship between phase lattice parameters and quenching tempera- tures was given for α, β and α ^(11) phases. This alloy has a tendency of precipitation of athermal ω phase and formation of stress induced α^(11) mar- tensite from β phase during quenching. Quenched from the temperatures above the β transus tem- perature, the alloy mainly consists of β phase, a small amount of α^(11) martensite and athemal ω phase aye also present in the alloy. After quenching from the temperatures below the β transus temperature, the α phase appeays in the alloy in addition to the phases mentioned above. 展开更多

Based on the experimental and theoretical analysis, the tensile elastic modulus, strength and fracture characteristics of squeeze casting δ-Al2O3/Al alloy composites were studied. The fracture characteristics of composites were observed by SEM. The elastic modulus was predicted by the finite element method based on the energy equivalence principle, and the strength was predicted by the statistical integration average method using the maximum energy criterion of composite strength. In the prediction, the distribution density functions of the fiber's. orientation and length were considered. These functions were gained by experimental measurement. It is shown that the predicted results are in agreement with the experimental values well and the microstructure feature of composites controls the fracture characteristics. 展开更多
