Recently, the non-antibacterial applications of macrolides are frequently reported, such as the therapy of malignant tumor, exudative pleurisy, pulmonary fibrosis, rheumatoid arthritis, bronchiectasis, asthma, gastrointestinal peristalsis disorders, and so on with new pharmacological effects, including reverse of tumor resistance, anti-chemical adherence, anti-fibrosis, and modulations of gastrointestinal motility as well as immune activity.
