This paper selects the data of 30 provinces in China from 2011 to 2021, takes the bi-directional fixed effect model as the benchmark model, and introduces technological innovation and urbanization level as the intermediary variables to empirically test the effect and mechanism of digital finance on carbon intensity. The study found that digital finance can significantly reduce carbon intensity in general;the coverage breadth, use depth and digitization degree of digital finance have significant inhibition effect on carbon intensity. Digital finance can achieve “digital intelligence” carbon reduction through the dual path of enhancing technological innovation and promoting urbanization. The conclusions of this paper provide important implications for the use of digital technology and financial means to enable sustainable development.展开更多
