Glauconite, as a K-rich authigenic phyllosilicate, is an ideal specimen to obtain the isotopic age of sedimentary rock by means of K-Ar isotopic determination, especially in the application of ancient sedimentary rocks, because of its simultaneous formation with sediments. As for the glauconite in recent marine sediments, there have been also reports on the isotopic age which appears to range from 2 to 70 Myr.
