Hong & W. Z. Zhao是一个合法名称, 而P. spontanea (Rehder) T. Hong & W. Z. Zhao则确实是一个多余名。太白山紫斑牡丹的学名应是P. rockii ssp. atava (Brühl) D. Y. Hong & K. Y. Pan, 因此P. moutan Sims ssp. atava Brühl不应是可疑的分类群。本文还对Halda的6个组合和两个杂交种名作了处理。结果, 本文包括了5个新异名和一个新组合。展开更多

Legumes of the World (Eds G. Lewis, B. Schrire, B. Mackinder, M. Lock; Kew Publishing; ISBN 1 900 34780 6; £55), recently published by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, is the first fully-illustrated encyclopaedia of t...Legumes of the World (Eds G. Lewis, B. Schrire, B. Mackinder, M. Lock; Kew Publishing; ISBN 1 900 34780 6; £55), recently published by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, is the first fully-illustrated encyclopaedia of the world’s 727 legume genera and an authoritative compendium of legume information. The study of legumes at Kew has a long and virtually continuous history, beginning with G. Bentham in the middle of the19th century. R. Polhill and his coworkers organized in 1978 at Kew the first International Legume Conference, bringing together over 400 legume researchers. As a result, 11 volumes of Advances in Legume Systematics have been published. This book is thus a jewel of a long-term key project at Kew, and is a product of wisdom of legume experts all over the world. It contains rich knowledge, not only of morphology and taxonomy, but also of biogeography and advances in recent studies on molecular phylogenies conducted by several research groups. Thirty-six tribes and 727 genera of Leguminosae are recognized and treated in the book. In each tribe, relationships of the tribe with other groups and those between genera are discussed in detail. Given under each genus are the main synonyms, number of species, geographical range of the genus and sections, etymology, ecology, important literature, phylogenetic notes and economic uses. Also important, there are several beautiful colour photos with characteristics highlighted under each genus, and accompanied with a line drawing for about 50% of the genera. As is well known, the Leguminosae are one of the most important families economically, and knowledge about these plants is used by the professional, student and amateur across a broad range of disciplines. The research on the systematics of this family will certainly set up a good example for studies on other families or groups of plants. The publication of this precious book, I believe, will surely receive much international acclaim.展开更多
