Methods: A hundred and six children with CVA were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, 53 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with Tuina therapy plus oral administration of montelukast sodium tablets, and the control group was treated only by oral administration of montelukast sodium tablets. Tuina treatment was given three times per week. 5 mg of montelukast sodium tablets was given orally before bedtime every night. The therapeutic effects were assessed after the treatment of four weeks in both groups. Results: The total effective rates were 92.5% in the treatment group and 77.4% in the control group. The difference in the total effective rate between the two groups was statistically significant (P〈0.05). Conclusion: The therapeutic effect of tuina plus montelukast sodium tablets for children with CVA is better than that of oral administration of montelukast sodium tablets alone.展开更多

Methods: Sixty cases with chronic heart failure who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups, 30 cases in each group. The treatment group was treated with mild moxibustion plus routine medications and the control group was treated only with routine medications, for comparing the clinical effects and relevant indexes of heart functions between the two groups after the treatment. Results: The heart rate (HR), cardiac output (CO) and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) were obviously improved in the two groups after the treatment (P0.01), better in the treatment group than those in the control group (P0.01). The total effective rate was better in the treatment group than that in the control group (P0.05), indicating that both therapeutic programs were effective for chronic heart failure, but the clinical effect was better in the treatment group. Conclusion: The clinical effect is better in the treatment of chronic heart failure by mild moxibustion plus medications than by single application of medications.展开更多

Methods: Sixty patients were randomly allocated into two groups. The observation group was treated with long-term needle-retaining method of scalp acupuncture and the control group was treated by medications. Evaluation was made respectively before and after the treatment by means of Hasegawa dementia scale (HDS), neurological function deficit (NFD) score and main symptom (MS) score. Results: There were statistically significant differences in HDS, NFD score and MS score in both groups (P〈0.01) before and after the treatment. There were statistically significant differences in HDS, NFD score and MS score between the two groups (P〈0.05) before and after the treatment. The total effective rate was 86.8% in the observation group and 80.0% in the control group. There was a statistically significant difference in the effects between the two groups (P〈0.05). Conclusion: This long-term needle-retaining method of scalp acupuncture is precisely effective for vascular dementia.展开更多

Methods: By random single blind control method, 80 cases were divided randomly into Group A (single Tuina group) and Group B (warming needle method plus Tuina group), 40 cases in each group. Results: The effective rate was 95.0% in Group B and 85.0% in Group A, without significant difference (P〉0.05) in comparison between two groups. In assessment of Visual Analogue Scale, there was obvious decrease in both groups before and after the treatments (P〈0.01). In comparison of VAS score differences between the two groups after the treatments, there was remarkable significant difference (P〈0.01). Methods: A total of 170 patients confirmed by biopsy and surgical pathology and treated with radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer were randomly divided into an acupuncture group, an observation group and a control group by random digital table. Fifty-six cases in the acupuncture group were treated with acupuncture after surgery, one session each day, till the extubation day; 58 cases in the observation group were treated with acupuncture plus medium-frequency electric stimulation after surgery, one session each day, till the extubation day; and 56 cases in the control group didn't receive any intervention, and the catheter was retained till the extubation day. On the postoperative day 14, all groups were dealt with catheterization to determine the residual urine volume, in order to observe the occurrence rate of urinary retention and the recovery of bladder function and to compare the differences of the therapeutic effects among the groups. Results: The occurrence rates of urinary retention were respectively 16.1%, 20.7% and 46.4% in the acupuncture group, observation group and control group, with significant differences (P〈0.05). When comparing the acupuncture group and the observation group with the control group, there were significant differences (both P〈0.05). In comparison between the acupuncture group and the observation group, there was no significant difference (P〉0.05). The recovery rates of bladder function in the three group were respectively 42.9%, 60.3% and 41.1% without significant differences (P〉0.05). Moreover, there were no significant between-group differences (P〉0.05), but acupuncture plus medium-frequency electric stimulation showed a better tendency. Conclusion: The single application of acupuncture therapy is effective and able to prevent urinary retention after radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer. Acupuncture plus medium-frequency electric stimulation can effectively enhance the recovery of bladder function and reduce the residual urine volume in the bladder to the maximum.展开更多

With the social development, because of the enhancement of the medical and hygienic levels and improvement of the life quality, people pay an increasing attention to the issue of CFS. How to solve CFS, currently due to limitation in the theory of Western medicine, there is no concrete therapeutic method, in addition to the suggestion to change bad life style, regulate the psychological status and pay attention to proper balance between fatigue and physical exercise. But, TCM non-medicinal therapies have unique advantage and remarkable therapeutic effect in the elimination of CFS. Now, current-used TCM non-medicinal therapies for sub-health are summarized in the following.展开更多

Methods: A total of 63 cases were randomly divided into three groups. Twenty-three cases in the moxibustion group were treated by moxibustion, and 22 cases in the hydro-acupuncture group were treated by acupoint injection, and 18 cases in the control group were treated by oral administration of Batilol tablets. The changes of the white blood cell count and the content of immunoglobulin before and after the treatments were observed. Results: After treatments, the total leukocyte count and the content of immunoglobulin were all elevated in the moxibustion group and the hydro-acupuncture group, with statistical difference when compared with the control group (P〈0.05, P〈0.01). In the elevation of the white blood cell count, the hydro-acupuncture group was better than the moxibustion group (P〈0.05). Conclusion: Moxibustion and hydro-acupuncture can be used to treat and prevent toxic and side effects of chemotherapy. From this aspect, the different needling techniques possess different effects.展开更多

Both of the two groups were treated by oral administration of Sulfasalazine tablets. Additionally, the treatment group was given moxibustion on Governor Vessel, and the control group was given sham moxibustion. The treatment was given once every other day, 4 weeks constituted one course, 2 courses in total. Before treatment, after 1-course and 2-course treatments, the quantified scores of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndromes and the symptoms scores recommended by AS International Society [including Bath ankylosing spondylitis disease activity index(BASDAI), visual analogue scale(VAS), Bath ankylosing spondylitis functional index(BASFI) and Bath ankylosing spondylitis metrology index(BASMI)] were respectively observed and recorded, and the change of safety item was monitored. Results: After 1-course and 2-course treatments, the quantified scores of TCM syndromes were obviously improved than those before treatment in the two groups(P〈0.05), and the score was improved better in the treatment group than that in the control group(P〈0.05). In comparison within the group, there were no statistical differences between the scores after 1-course treatment and 2-course treatment in the two groups(P〈0.05). After 1-course treatment, the items of the symptoms scores were improved than those before treatment in the two groups(P〉0.05). After 2-course treatment, the therapeutic effect was more remarkable in the treatment group, with a statistical difference between the two groups(P〈0.05). During treatment, no obvious abnormality in all safety items was noticed in the two groups. Conclusion: Moxibustion on Governor Vessel can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of AS patients, without obvious adverse reaction.展开更多
