New mixed ligand chelates synthesized from di-and trivalent metal ions (Cr, Co, Ni, and Cu ions) and Schiff base (L1) resulted from the condensation of 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde with 2-aminophenol as primary ligand,...New mixed ligand chelates synthesized from di-and trivalent metal ions (Cr, Co, Ni, and Cu ions) and Schiff base (L1) resulted from the condensation of 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde with 2-aminophenol as primary ligand, whereas 2-nitroaniline (L2) represents the secondary ligand in a molar ratio of M:L1:L2 [1:1:1]. The synthesized Schiff base and chelates have been characterized by using several tools, such as, elemental analysis, molar conductivity, magnetic moment measurements, infrared and electronic spectra. The mass spectra of the ligands and Ni(II) chelate were used to justify the process of modification, as well as, the electron paramagnetic resonance spectrum which was carried out for Cu(II) chelate all in order to elucidate the chemical and geometrical structure of the chelates. On the basis of the obtained data, the geometry of the products was proposed for all the chelates.展开更多

The samples were prepared without farther treatment and sorted according to th...The Fava Beans were used in this work as low cost adsorbent material for removal of Pb(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II) ions from aqueous solutions. The samples were prepared without farther treatment and sorted according to the particles diameter by standard sieves 250 - 500 μm. Batch adsorption experiments were carried out to study the adsorption process, several parameters such as Initial pH of adsorbent, effect of contact time, effect of adsorbent amount and effect of metal concentration were conducted in these experiments. The effects of any one of those previously mentioned parameters on the adsorption capacity were studied while the other parameters were kept constant. It was found that the obtained maximum adsorption capacities of Fave beans for the removal of selected heavy metals were very high. This provide us to use Fava beans as a low coast adsorbent material to clean up the water in the environment from toxic heavy metals such as Pb(II), Cd(II) and Zn(II) ions.展开更多

These Schiff bases can be directly prepared from aromatic amine with aromatic carbonyl groups, which are stable and can be manipulated under different and suitable conditions. The phenomena of coordination of Schiff bases with metal ions give the Schiff bases the good advantages to be introduced in the dyes synthesis. The classification of dyes is based on the chemical structure or on the basis of the chromophoric system. The metal complex dyes are combinations of dyestuff and metal ions, in which the coordination complex can be applied or used to be improvement factors in dye techniques. The investigation and the characterization of the resulted dyes were performed by using different physical techniques. The produced dyes were applied to different fibres, such as sheep wool and goat hair with two Schiff bases synthesised from salicylaldehyde either with 2-aminophenol or 2-aminobenzyl alcohol.
