Aim: To analyze the ability of two types of Lysate-PRF in inducing the proliferation of fibroblast cells. Material & Methods: Microplate with 24 wells each filled 200 μl suspension DMEM + 10% FBS and 10 × 104 fibroblasts. Then FBS is replaced with a concentration of 1%, for serum starvation process. Each 3 wells were exposed with 50%, 25%, 12.5% Lysate-PRF and 50%, 25%, 12.5% Lysate A-PRF respectively. Three other wells are exposed to 10% FBS. Microplate was incubated for 24 hour at 37°C with 5% CO2. The growth of fibroblast was calculated by automatic cell counter. Results: The highest mean value of the Lysate-PRF group was at 12.5% (312.833) while the Lysate A-PRF group at 25% (303.500). If all the groups compared did not show any significant differences. Conclusions: Lysate-PRF and Lysate A-PRF have the same ability as 10% FBS in inducing fibroblast cell proliferation or the same as physiological condition.展开更多

Objective: To evaluate the comparison of the apical leakage between obturation using bioceramic sealer (BS) and polydimethylsiloxane sealer (PS). Materials and Methods: Thirty-six mandibular premolars were equally divided into two groups and were obturated with single cone technique. The sealers used for Group I and Group II were BS and PS respectively. After obturation, the samples were incubated (37°C, 24 h), sealed with two coats of nail polish except for 2 mm from the apex, submerged in the Indian ink for 7 days, decalcified, dehydrated, and made transparent according to Robertson technique. Dye penetration was evaluated under stereomicroscope. Samples without dye penetration were given score 0, dye penetration ≤ 0.5 mm were given score 1, 0.51 - 1 mm were given score 2, and >1 mm were given score 3. Result: The largest proportion distribution in BS group was at the score 1 (55.6%), whereas in PS group was at the score 2 (44.4%). Conclusion: Bioceramic sealer showed similar apical leakage to polydimethylsiloxane sealer. Clinical Relevance: Based on this study, bioceramic sealer can be recommended to be used as sealer with low level of apical leakage as well as polydimethylsiloxane sealer.展开更多

Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare two methods of chlorhexidine application of shear bond strength degradation between composite resin and dentin. Methods: Thirty samples of dentin were taken from the crown of premolars and then divided into three groups (n = 10). Group 1 were applied bonding without chlorhexidine, group 2 were applied with liquid chlorhexidine and followed by bonding, group 3 were applied bonding which contains chlorhexidine. Each group was divided into two sub-groups (n = 5): the group with and without 10% NaOCl immersion for one hour. Then, 4 samples in each sub-group were used to measure shear bond strength using Universal Testing Machine, and 1 sample was examined with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Data were analyzed using SPSS 17 by Mann-Whitney and Kruskal Wallis test. Results: The highest mean shear bond strength without 10% NaOCl immersion was in group 1, while the highest mean with 10% NaOCl immersion was in group 3. Significant differences occurred between the groups 1 and 2, groups 2 and 3. Conclusion: Method of using bonding contains chlorhexidine can increase and inhibit degradation shear bond strength between composite resin and dentin.展开更多

Aim: To evaluate and compare accuracy of the two electronic root canal length measurement devices;two frequencies impedance ratio and multi frequencies. Methods: Forty anterior teeth were sectioned on their cervical area. All samples were measured root canal length by radiographic. On the second phase, all the samples were measured by two frequencies impedance ratio and multi frequencies electronic devices. In the final phase, the teeth were split vertically and actual lengths were measured. All measurement by radiographic and electronic method was subtracted with actual length. Statistical analysis was performed using Chi-square and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test. Results: Accuracy of the two frequencies impedance ratio 50% and multi frequencies 47.5%. No statistical significance between two frequencies impedance ratio and multi frequencies. Conclusions: There is no difference between ratio two impedance frequencies and multi frequencies.展开更多

Case: Radix entomolaris was an additional root that located on the distolingual of mandibular first molars. In this case, the radix entomolaris was detected clinically and radiographically with root canal configuration such as curves. An awareness and understanding of this unusual root and root canal morphology could contribute to the successful outcome of endodontic treatment. Conclusion: Root canal treatment on this case shows the lack of symptoms and normal radiographic presentation for two months follow-up.展开更多
