Logic regression is an adaptive regression method which searches for Boolean (logic) combinations of binary variables that best explain the variability in the outcome, and thus, it reveals interaction effects which are associated with the response. In this study, we extended logic regression to longitudinal data with binary response and proposed “Transition Logic Regression Method” to find interactions related to response. In this method, interaction effects over time were found by Annealing Algorithm with AIC (Akaike Information Criterion) as the score function of the model. Also, first and second orders Markov dependence were allowed to capture the correlation among successive observations of the same individual in longitudinal binary response. Performance of the method was evaluated with simulation study in various conditions. Proposed method was used to find interactions of SNPs and other risk factors related to low HDL over time in data of 329 participants of longitudinal TLGS study. 展开更多

Dysphagia is a symptom, commonly found in healthcare residents and the elderly, may lead to undernutrition and negative effects on quality of life.Providing special food products that cannot only be swallowed by patients but also meet nutritional requirements is a challenge for food rheologists and healthcare staff. The purpose of this paper was to review the literature on rheological aspects of dysphagia-oriented products. Also, some suggestions were proposed for better exploitation of rheological data in the field of dysphagia-rheology.©2013 Beijing Academy of Food Sciences.Production and hosting by Elsevier B.V.All rights reserved. 展开更多

ObjectiveTo present the geographical map of malaria and identify some of the important environmental factors of this disease in Sistan and Baluchistan province, Iran.MethodsWe used the registered malaria data to compute the standard incidence rates (SIRs) of malaria in different areas of Sistan and Baluchistan province for a nine-year period (from 2001 to 2009). Statistical analyses consisted of two different parts: geographical mapping of malaria incidence rates, and modeling the environmental factors. The empirical Bayesian estimates of malaria SIRs were utilized for geographical mapping of malaria and a Poisson random effects model was used for assessing the effect of environmental factors on malaria SIRs.ResultsIn general, 64 926 new cases of malaria were registered in Sistan and Baluchistan Province from 2001 to 2009. Among them, 42 695 patients (65.8%) were male and 22 231 patients (34.2%) were female. Modeling the environmental factors showed that malaria incidence rates had positive relationship with humidity, elevation, average minimum temperature and average maximum temperature, while rainfall had negative effect on malaria SIRs in this province.ConclusionsThe results of the present study reveals that malaria is still a serious health problem in Sistan and Baluchistan province, Iran. Geographical map and related environmental factors of malaria can help the health policy makers to intervene in high risk areas more efficiently and allocate the resources in a proper manner. 展开更多

It is estimated that 499 million new cases of curable STIs occur every year. The existence of more than one million reported cases of STIs annually in Iran shows that addressing this issue must be a priority for Iranian health authorities. While recognition of the importance of gender issues to reproductive health (RH) programs has grown significantly in the past several years, major challenges remain in implementing gender-sensitive programs. Gender mainstreaming in Iranian reproductive health program is a relatively new issue, so this study aims to explore gender sensitive STIs/HIV/AIDS prevention policies. Method: This study employed a qualitative research design. Participants were health managers, health policy makers and reproductive health providers. They were selected purposefully and then continued by snowball sampling method. 43 semi-structured in-depth interviews with 37 key informants were done. All the interviews were recorded and transcribed. The data were analyzed by content analysis method. Trustworthiness of the data was achieved by using credibility, trans-ferability and conformability. Results: Key informants clearly explained the gender sensitive STIs/ HIV/AIDS prevention policies in three main categories: 1) advocacy, 2) collaboration between different sectors and 3) community empowerment to gender sensitive STIs/HIV/AIDS prevention programs. Conclusion: Changing gender neural STIs/HIV/AIDS prevention policy to more complete gender sensitive policy needs advocacy, collaboration of sectors and community empowerment. 展开更多
