This editorial discusses a case report recently published in the World Journal of Clinical Cases.The report describes the clinical presentation,imaging,diagnosis,and treatment of a patient with tuberous sclerosis comp...This editorial discusses a case report recently published in the World Journal of Clinical Cases.The report describes the clinical presentation,imaging,diagnosis,and treatment of a patient with tuberous sclerosis complex(TSC)combined with primary lymphedema(PLE).Additionally,it retrospectively analyzes the data of 16 previously reported cases of children with TSC combined with PLE to summarize the epidemiology,genetic diagnosis,and current main treatments of these patients.The report also speculates on the pathological and physiological mechanisms underlying TSC combined with PLE.TSC combined with PLE is rare;therefore,the report provides a theoretical basis for understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms and treatment options for patients with TSC and PLE.Comprehensive clinical management of TSC is essential due to the diverse and multiorgan nature of its manifestations,often requiring a multidisciplinary approach for newly diagnosed cases.展开更多
Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen(EPR) steering is an example of nontrivial quantum nonlocality and characteristic in the non-classical world.The directivity(or asymmetry) is a fascinating trait of EPR steering,and it is diff...Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen(EPR) steering is an example of nontrivial quantum nonlocality and characteristic in the non-classical world.The directivity(or asymmetry) is a fascinating trait of EPR steering,and it is different from other quantum nonlocalities.Here,we consider the strategy in which two atoms compose a two-qubit X state,and the two atoms are owned by Alice and Bob,respectively.The atom of Alice suffers from a reservoir,and the atom of Bob couples with a bit flip channel.The influences of auxiliary qubits on EPR steering and its directions are revealed by means of the entropy uncertainty relation.The results indicate that EPR steering declines with growing time t when adding fewer auxiliary qubits.The EPR steering behaves as damped oscillation when introducing more auxiliary qubits in the strong coupling regime.In the weak coupling regime,the EPR steering monotonously decreases as t increases when coupling auxiliary qubits.The increases in auxiliary qubits are responsible for the fact that the steerability from Alice to Bob(or from Bob to Alice) can be more effectively revealed.Notably,the introductions of more auxiliary qubits can change the situation that steerability from Alice to Bob is certain to a situation in which steerability from Bob to Alice is certain.展开更多

Background:Flammulina velutipes stem waste(FVS)is the by-product of mushroom industry.The objectives of this study were to determine the available energy and amino acid digestibility of FVS fed to pigs,and to evaluate...Background:Flammulina velutipes stem waste(FVS)is the by-product of mushroom industry.The objectives of this study were to determine the available energy and amino acid digestibility of FVS fed to pigs,and to evaluate the effects of dietary FVS inclusion on growth performance,biochemical profile of serum,fecal short chain fatty acid(SCFA)concentration,carcass traits,meat quality,intestinal morphology and microflora of pigs.In Exp.1,twelve crossbred barrows with initial body weight(IBW)of 37.48±4.31 kg were randomly allotted to 2 dietary treatments,including a corn basal diet and an experimental diet containing 24.35%FVS.In Exp.2,twelve barrows fitted with an ileal T-cannula(IBW:32.56±1.67 kg)were randomly allotted to 2 dietary treatments,which included a N-free diet and an experimental diet containing 40.0%FVS.In Exp.3,ninety growing pigs(IBW:63.98±6.89 kg)were allotted to 1 of 3 treatment diets for 63 d,including a basal diet and 2 experimental diets with 2.5%and 5%FVS,respectively.Results:The digestible energy(DE)and metabolizable energy(ME)of FVS were 4.58 and 4.06 MJ/kg on dry matter basis,respectively,and the standardized ileal digestibility(SID)of indispensable AAs ranged from 17.50%to 59.47%.Pigs fed diets with 2.5%FVS showed no difference on average daily gain(ADG)and gain to feed ratio(G/F).Although dietary 5%FVS inclusion impaired apparent total tract digestibility(ATTD)of organic matter and gross energy,it elevated the SCFA concentration(P≤0.04)in gut and antioxidant capacity in serum.In addition,dietary FVS inclusion depressed the backfat thickness(P=0.03)in pigs.The longissimus dorsi muscle of pigs fed FVS revealed higher n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid concentration and optimized fatty acid composition.Dietary 2.5%FVS inclusion also improved the intestinal development and health by increasing the villius height to crypt depth ratio(V/C)in jejunum(P<0.01),and promoting microbial diversity and beneficial microbiota proliferation.Conclusions:It is feasible to include moderate content of FVS as an unconventional fiber ingredient in diet of growingfinishing pigs.展开更多
A uniform Al-doped LiNi_(0.5)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.3)O_(2) cathode material was prepared using a coprecipitation method to take advantage of the positive effect of Al on regenerated NCM(Ni,Co,Mn)cathode materials and ameliora...A uniform Al-doped LiNi_(0.5)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.3)O_(2) cathode material was prepared using a coprecipitation method to take advantage of the positive effect of Al on regenerated NCM(Ni,Co,Mn)cathode materials and ameliorate cumbersome and high-cost impurity removal processes during lithium-ion battery recycling.When the Al^(3+) content in the leachate was 1 at.%with respect to the total amount of transition metals(Ni,Co,and Mn),the produced Al-doped NCM cathode material increased concentrations of lattice oxygen and Ni^(2+).The initial specific capacity at 0.1C was 167.4 mA·h/g,with a capacity retention of 79.1%after 400 cycles at 1C.Further,this Al-doped sample showed improved rate performance and a smaller electrochemical impedance.These findings provide a reference for developing industrial processes to resynthesize cathode materials with improved electrochemical performance by incorporating Al^(3+) impurities produced during lithium-ion battery recycling.展开更多

Then the short-term load forecasting model of Shanxi Power Grid (China) based on BP-ANN method and correlation analysis is established. Objective To compare the similarities and differences of early CT manifestations of three types of viral pneumonia induced by SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19),SARS-CoV(SARS)and MERS-CoV(MERS)using a systemic review.Methods Electr...Objective To compare the similarities and differences of early CT manifestations of three types of viral pneumonia induced by SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19),SARS-CoV(SARS)and MERS-CoV(MERS)using a systemic review.Methods Electronic database were searched to identify all original articles and case reports presenting chest CT features for adult patients with COVID-19,SARS and MERS pneumonia respectively.Quality of literature and completeness of presented data were evaluated by consensus reached by three radiologists.Vote-counting method was employed to include cases of each group.Data of patients’manifestations in early chest CT including lesion patterns,distribution of lesions and specific imaging signs for the three groups were extracted and recorded.Data were compared and analyzed using SPSS 22.0.Results A total of 24 studies were included,composing of 10 studies of COVID-19,5 studies of MERS and 9 studies of SARS.The included CT exams were 147,40,and 122 respectively.For the early CT features of the 3 pneumonias,the basic lesion pattern with respect to"mixed ground glass opacity(GGO)and consolidation,GGO mainly,or consolidation mainly"was similar among the 3 groups(χ^2=7.966,P>0.05).There were no significant differences on the lesion distribution(χ^2=13.053,P>0.05)and predominate involvement of the subpleural area of bilateral lower lobes(χ^2=4.809,P>0.05)among the 3 groups.The lesions appeared more focal in COVID-19 pneumonia at early phase(χ^2=23.509,P<0.05).The proportions of crazy-paving pattern(χ^2=23.037,P<0.001),organizing pneumonia pattern(P<0.05)and pleural effusions(P<0.001)in COVID-19 pneumonia were significantly lower than the other two.Although rarely shown in the early CT findings of all three viral pneumonias,the fibrotic changes were more frequent in SARS than COVID-19 and MERS(χ^2=6.275,P<0.05).For other imaging signs,only the MERS pneumonia demonstrated tree-in-buds,cavitation,and its incidence rate of interlobular or intralobular septal thickening presented significantly increased as compared to the other two pneumonia(χ^2=22.412,P<0.05).No pneumothorax,pneumomediastinum and lymphadenopathy was present for each group.Conclusions Imaging findings on early stage of these three coronavirus pneumonias showed similar basic lesion patterns,including GGO and consolidation,bilateral distribution,and predominant involvement of the subpleural area and the lower lobes.Early signs of COVID-19 pneumonia showed less severity of inflammation.Early fibrotic changes appeared in SARS only.MERS had more severe inflammatory changes including cavitation and pleural effusion.The differences may indicate the specific pathophysiological processes for each coronavirus pneumonia.展开更多

Microstructural evolution in the quenched sample was observed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrometry, and the combustion temperature was measured. The results showed that the combustion reaction started with local formation of Ti-Cu melt and could be described with the dissolution-precipitation mechanism, namely, Ti, Cu, and C particles dissolved into the Ti-Cu solution and TiC particles precipitated in the saturated Ti-Cu-C liquid solution. The local formation of Ti-Cu melt resulted from the solid diffusion between Ti and Cu particles.展开更多
Poly(arylene sulfide sulfone)/graphene nanoplate(PASS/GNP) composites with segregated structure based on continuous polymer fiber skeletons were fabricated by coating a thin conductive layer on the PASS fibers and the...Poly(arylene sulfide sulfone)/graphene nanoplate(PASS/GNP) composites with segregated structure based on continuous polymer fiber skeletons were fabricated by coating a thin conductive layer on the PASS fibers and then performing compression molding. The formation of a unique segregated conductive network endowed the PASS/GNP composites with high electrical conductivity and excellent electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding effectiveness(SE), reaching 17.8 S/m and 30.1 d B, respectively, when the content of the GNPs in the conductive layer was 20 wt%. The PASS/GNP composites also exhibited outstanding mechanical properties, which was attributed to the continuous PASS fiber skeletons that could withstand large loads and the strong interfacial interaction between the conductive layers and the PASS fibers that could provide good stress transfer. This approach is suitable for most soluble polymers.展开更多

Nacre-like composites with excellent in-plane heat dissipation are ideal as heat spreaders for thin and planar electronics. However, the intrinsically poor viscoelasticity, i.e., adhesion and elasticity, prevents them from simultaneous self-adhesion and arbitrary elongation along with current flexible devices as well as incurring high interfacial thermal impedance. In this paper, we propose a soft thermochromic composite(STC) membrane with a layered structure, considerable stretchability, high in-plane thermal conductivity(~30 Wm^(-1) K^(-1)), low thermal contact resistance(~12 mm^2 KW^(-1), 4–5 times lower than that of silver paste), strong yet sustainable adhesion forces(~4607 Jm^(-2), 2220 Jm^(-2) greater than that of epoxy paste) and self-healing efficiency. As a self-adhesive heat spreader, it implements efficient cooling of various soft electronics with a temperature drop of 20℃ than the polyimide case. In addition to its self-healing function, the chameleon-like behavior of STC facilitates temperature monitoring by the naked eye, hence enabling smart thermal management.展开更多

The electromagnetic and microwave absorption properties of the ferrite were investigated. The results indicated that calcining temperature of the ferrite had a significant influence on the effective properties of the ferrite. When the calcining temperature was 500, 600 and 700℃, the average size of particles was 10, 30 and 80 nm, respectively. The dielectric loss (ε″) and magnetic loss (μ″) of the ferrite was around 0.65 and 0.29 at 8.2 GHz, respectively. Microwave absorption properties of the ferrites were simultaneously influenced due to the strong correlation between reflection loss and electromagnetic parameters of the ferrite.展开更多
Solid-state electrolyte(SSE)of the sodium-ion battery have attracted tremendous attention in the next generation energy storage materials on account of their wide electrochemical window and thermal stability.However,t...Solid-state electrolyte(SSE)of the sodium-ion battery have attracted tremendous attention in the next generation energy storage materials on account of their wide electrochemical window and thermal stability.However,the high interfacial impedance,low ion transference number and complex preparation process restrict the application of SSE.Herein,inspired by the excellent sieving function and high specific surface area of red blood cells,we obtained a solid-like electrolyte(SLE)based on the combination of the pancake-like metal-organic framework(MOF)with liquid electrolyte,possessing a high ionic conductivity of 6.60×10^(-4) S cm^(−1),and excellent sodium metal compatibility.In addition,we investigated the ion restriction effect of MOF’s apertures size and special functional groups,and the ion transference number increased from 0.16 to 0.33.Finally,the assembled Na_(0.44)MnO_(2)//SLE//Na full batteries showed no obvious capacity decrease after 160 cycles.This material design of SLE in our work is an important key to obtain fast ion migration SLE for high-performance sodium-ion batteries.展开更多
BACKGROUND Gallbladder polyps are one indication for cholecystectomy,but this procedure carries some disadvantages,including the potential for severe injury and high risk of post-operative complications.Laparoscopy co...BACKGROUND Gallbladder polyps are one indication for cholecystectomy,but this procedure carries some disadvantages,including the potential for severe injury and high risk of post-operative complications.Laparoscopy combined with endoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive treatment option.We herein report a young patient with a gallbladder polyp who was successfully discharged from the hospital after laparoscopic-assisted endoscopy.This procedure may offer an alternative in the management of such lesions.CASE SUMMARY A 24-year-old female patient was hospitalized primarily for a gallbladder polyp.Due to the surgical risk associated with cholecystectomy and the low postoperative quality of life,the woman underwent laparoscopic-assisted transumbilical gastroscopy for gallbladder-preserving polypectomy under endotracheal intubation and general anaesthesia.The operation went smoothly.CONCLUSION We conclude laparoscopic-assisted transumbilical gastroscopy for gallbladderpreserving polypectomy is a safe and effective technique for the treatment of gallbladder polyps.展开更多
BACKGROUND Lissencephaly(LIS)is a malformation of cortical development with broad gyri,shallow sulci and thickened cortex characterized by developmental delays and seizures.Currently,20 genes have been implicated in L...BACKGROUND Lissencephaly(LIS)is a malformation of cortical development with broad gyri,shallow sulci and thickened cortex characterized by developmental delays and seizures.Currently,20 genes have been implicated in LIS.However,GRP56-related LIS has never been reported.GRP56 is considered one of the causative genes for bilateral frontoparietal polymicrogyria.Here,we report a twin infant with LIS and review the relevant literature.The twins both carried the novel compound heterozygous GPR56 mutations.CASE SUMMARY A 5-mo-old female infant was hospitalized due to repeated convulsions for 1 d.The patient had a flat head deformity that manifested as developmental delays and a sudden onset of generalized tonic-clonic seizures at 5 mo without any causes.The electroencephalography was normal.Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a simple brain structure with widened and thickened gyri and shallow sulci.The white matter of the brain was significantly reduced.Patchy long T1 and T2 signals could be seen around the ventricles,which were expanded,and the extracerebral space was widened.Genetic testing confirmed that the patient carried the GPR56 gene compound heterozygous mutations c.228delC(p.F76fs)and c.1820_1821delAT(p.H607fs).The unaffected father carried a heterozygous c.1820_1821delAT mutation,and the unaffected mother carried a heterozygous c.228delC mutation.The twin sister carried the same mutations as the proband.The patient was diagnosed with LIS.CONCLUSION This is the first case report of LIS that is likely caused by mutations of the GPR56 gene.展开更多

文摘A uniform Al-doped LiNi_(0.5)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.3)O_(2) cathode material was prepared using a coprecipitation method to take advantage of the positive effect of Al on regenerated NCM(Ni,Co,Mn)cathode materials and ameliorate cumbersome and high-cost impurity removal processes during lithium-ion battery recycling.When the Al^(3+) content in the leachate was 1 at.%with respect to the total amount of transition metals(Ni,Co,and Mn),the produced Al-doped NCM cathode material increased concentrations of lattice oxygen and Ni^(2+).The initial specific capacity at 0.1C was 167.4 mA·h/g,with a capacity retention of 79.1%after 400 cycles at 1C.Further,this Al-doped sample showed improved rate performance and a smaller electrochemical impedance.These findings provide a reference for developing industrial processes to resynthesize cathode materials with improved electrochemical performance by incorporating Al^(3+) impurities produced during lithium-ion battery recycling.

文摘Aiming at the low accuracy problem of power system short-term load forecasting by traditional methods, a back-propagation artificial neural network (BP-ANN) based method for short-term load forecasting is presented in this paper. The forecast points are related to prophase adjacent data as well as the periodical long-term historical load data. Then the short-term load forecasting model of Shanxi Power Grid (China) based on BP-ANN method and correlation analysis is established. The simulation model matches well with practical power system load, indicating the BP-ANN method is simple and with higher precision and practicality.
文摘Objective To compare the similarities and differences of early CT manifestations of three types of viral pneumonia induced by SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19),SARS-CoV(SARS)and MERS-CoV(MERS)using a systemic review.Methods Electronic database were searched to identify all original articles and case reports presenting chest CT features for adult patients with COVID-19,SARS and MERS pneumonia respectively.Quality of literature and completeness of presented data were evaluated by consensus reached by three radiologists.Vote-counting method was employed to include cases of each group.Data of patients’manifestations in early chest CT including lesion patterns,distribution of lesions and specific imaging signs for the three groups were extracted and recorded.Data were compared and analyzed using SPSS 22.0.Results A total of 24 studies were included,composing of 10 studies of COVID-19,5 studies of MERS and 9 studies of SARS.The included CT exams were 147,40,and 122 respectively.For the early CT features of the 3 pneumonias,the basic lesion pattern with respect to"mixed ground glass opacity(GGO)and consolidation,GGO mainly,or consolidation mainly"was similar among the 3 groups(χ^2=7.966,P>0.05).There were no significant differences on the lesion distribution(χ^2=13.053,P>0.05)and predominate involvement of the subpleural area of bilateral lower lobes(χ^2=4.809,P>0.05)among the 3 groups.The lesions appeared more focal in COVID-19 pneumonia at early phase(χ^2=23.509,P<0.05).The proportions of crazy-paving pattern(χ^2=23.037,P<0.001),organizing pneumonia pattern(P<0.05)and pleural effusions(P<0.001)in COVID-19 pneumonia were significantly lower than the other two.Although rarely shown in the early CT findings of all three viral pneumonias,the fibrotic changes were more frequent in SARS than COVID-19 and MERS(χ^2=6.275,P<0.05).For other imaging signs,only the MERS pneumonia demonstrated tree-in-buds,cavitation,and its incidence rate of interlobular or intralobular septal thickening presented significantly increased as compared to the other two pneumonia(χ^2=22.412,P<0.05).No pneumothorax,pneumomediastinum and lymphadenopathy was present for each group.Conclusions Imaging findings on early stage of these three coronavirus pneumonias showed similar basic lesion patterns,including GGO and consolidation,bilateral distribution,and predominant involvement of the subpleural area and the lower lobes.Early signs of COVID-19 pneumonia showed less severity of inflammation.Early fibrotic changes appeared in SARS only.MERS had more severe inflammatory changes including cavitation and pleural effusion.The differences may indicate the specific pathophysiological processes for each coronavirus pneumonia.

文摘The mechanism of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) of TiC-Cu cermets was studied using a combustion front quenching method. Microstructural evolution in the quenched sample was observed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrometry, and the combustion temperature was measured. The results showed that the combustion reaction started with local formation of Ti-Cu melt and could be described with the dissolution-precipitation mechanism, namely, Ti, Cu, and C particles dissolved into the Ti-Cu solution and TiC particles precipitated in the saturated Ti-Cu-C liquid solution. The local formation of Ti-Cu melt resulted from the solid diffusion between Ti and Cu particles.

文摘Poly(arylene sulfide sulfone)/graphene nanoplate(PASS/GNP) composites with segregated structure based on continuous polymer fiber skeletons were fabricated by coating a thin conductive layer on the PASS fibers and then performing compression molding. The formation of a unique segregated conductive network endowed the PASS/GNP composites with high electrical conductivity and excellent electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding effectiveness(SE), reaching 17.8 S/m and 30.1 d B, respectively, when the content of the GNPs in the conductive layer was 20 wt%. The PASS/GNP composites also exhibited outstanding mechanical properties, which was attributed to the continuous PASS fiber skeletons that could withstand large loads and the strong interfacial interaction between the conductive layers and the PASS fibers that could provide good stress transfer. This approach is suitable for most soluble polymers.

文摘Cutting-edge heat spreaders for soft and planar electronics require not only high thermal conductivity and a certain degree of flexibility but also remarkable self-adhesion without thermal interface materials, elasticity, arbitrary elongation along with soft devices, and smart properties involving thermal self-healing, thermochromism and so on. Nacre-like composites with excellent in-plane heat dissipation are ideal as heat spreaders for thin and planar electronics. However, the intrinsically poor viscoelasticity, i.e., adhesion and elasticity, prevents them from simultaneous self-adhesion and arbitrary elongation along with current flexible devices as well as incurring high interfacial thermal impedance. In this paper, we propose a soft thermochromic composite(STC) membrane with a layered structure, considerable stretchability, high in-plane thermal conductivity(~30 Wm^(-1) K^(-1)), low thermal contact resistance(~12 mm^2 KW^(-1), 4–5 times lower than that of silver paste), strong yet sustainable adhesion forces(~4607 Jm^(-2), 2220 Jm^(-2) greater than that of epoxy paste) and self-healing efficiency. As a self-adhesive heat spreader, it implements efficient cooling of various soft electronics with a temperature drop of 20℃ than the polyimide case. In addition to its self-healing function, the chameleon-like behavior of STC facilitates temperature monitoring by the naked eye, hence enabling smart thermal management.

文摘Nanocrystalline Co0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 ferrite was synthesized by polyacrylamide gel method. The electromagnetic and microwave absorption properties of the ferrite were investigated. The results indicated that calcining temperature of the ferrite had a significant influence on the effective properties of the ferrite. When the calcining temperature was 500, 600 and 700℃, the average size of particles was 10, 30 and 80 nm, respectively. The dielectric loss (ε″) and magnetic loss (μ″) of the ferrite was around 0.65 and 0.29 at 8.2 GHz, respectively. Microwave absorption properties of the ferrites were simultaneously influenced due to the strong correlation between reflection loss and electromagnetic parameters of the ferrite.

文摘Solid-state electrolyte(SSE)of the sodium-ion battery have attracted tremendous attention in the next generation energy storage materials on account of their wide electrochemical window and thermal stability.However,the high interfacial impedance,low ion transference number and complex preparation process restrict the application of SSE.Herein,inspired by the excellent sieving function and high specific surface area of red blood cells,we obtained a solid-like electrolyte(SLE)based on the combination of the pancake-like metal-organic framework(MOF)with liquid electrolyte,possessing a high ionic conductivity of 6.60×10^(-4) S cm^(−1),and excellent sodium metal compatibility.In addition,we investigated the ion restriction effect of MOF’s apertures size and special functional groups,and the ion transference number increased from 0.16 to 0.33.Finally,the assembled Na_(0.44)MnO_(2)//SLE//Na full batteries showed no obvious capacity decrease after 160 cycles.This material design of SLE in our work is an important key to obtain fast ion migration SLE for high-performance sodium-ion batteries.
文摘BACKGROUND Gallbladder polyps are one indication for cholecystectomy,but this procedure carries some disadvantages,including the potential for severe injury and high risk of post-operative complications.Laparoscopy combined with endoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive treatment option.We herein report a young patient with a gallbladder polyp who was successfully discharged from the hospital after laparoscopic-assisted endoscopy.This procedure may offer an alternative in the management of such lesions.CASE SUMMARY A 24-year-old female patient was hospitalized primarily for a gallbladder polyp.Due to the surgical risk associated with cholecystectomy and the low postoperative quality of life,the woman underwent laparoscopic-assisted transumbilical gastroscopy for gallbladder-preserving polypectomy under endotracheal intubation and general anaesthesia.The operation went smoothly.CONCLUSION We conclude laparoscopic-assisted transumbilical gastroscopy for gallbladderpreserving polypectomy is a safe and effective technique for the treatment of gallbladder polyps.

文摘BACKGROUND Lissencephaly(LIS)is a malformation of cortical development with broad gyri,shallow sulci and thickened cortex characterized by developmental delays and seizures.Currently,20 genes have been implicated in LIS.However,GRP56-related LIS has never been reported.GRP56 is considered one of the causative genes for bilateral frontoparietal polymicrogyria.Here,we report a twin infant with LIS and review the relevant literature.The twins both carried the novel compound heterozygous GPR56 mutations.CASE SUMMARY A 5-mo-old female infant was hospitalized due to repeated convulsions for 1 d.The patient had a flat head deformity that manifested as developmental delays and a sudden onset of generalized tonic-clonic seizures at 5 mo without any causes.The electroencephalography was normal.Brain magnetic resonance imaging revealed a simple brain structure with widened and thickened gyri and shallow sulci.The white matter of the brain was significantly reduced.Patchy long T1 and T2 signals could be seen around the ventricles,which were expanded,and the extracerebral space was widened.Genetic testing confirmed that the patient carried the GPR56 gene compound heterozygous mutations c.228delC(p.F76fs)and c.1820_1821delAT(p.H607fs).The unaffected father carried a heterozygous c.1820_1821delAT mutation,and the unaffected mother carried a heterozygous c.228delC mutation.The twin sister carried the same mutations as the proband.The patient was diagnosed with LIS.CONCLUSION This is the first case report of LIS that is likely caused by mutations of the GPR56 gene.
