Geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthetase(GGPPS) has gained increasing attention as a key enzyme in terpene analysis.We designed specific primers based on plant GGPPS homologs and used reverse transcription polymerase c...Geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthetase(GGPPS) has gained increasing attention as a key enzyme in terpene analysis.We designed specific primers based on plant GGPPS homologs and used reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) to obtain and identify Pin GGPPS,a GGPPS gene sequence from Pinus massoniana,using bioinformatics tools.Quantitative PCR analysis of Pin GGPPS expression levels in roots,pine needles,immature stems,and semilignified stems from 6-month-old P.massoniana showed that expression levels of Pin GGPPS were highest in pine needles,followed by immature stems and semilignified stems,and lowest in roots.When we examined the correlation between Pin GGPPS gene expression levels and resin productivity in 20 adult plants for 28 successive days,Pin GGPPS expression levels presented a substantially linear distribution when plotted against their corresponding resin yields.In summary,we characterized the gene Pin GGPPS for the first time in P.massoniana,and established a correlation between Pin GGPPS gene expression levels and resin productivity,suggesting the importance of theory and production practice for P.massoniana.展开更多
Based on the phase-change material Ge_(2)Sb_(2)Te_(5)(GST),achromatic metasurface optical device in the longer-infrared wavelength is designed.With the combination of the linear phase gradient GST nanopillar and the a...Based on the phase-change material Ge_(2)Sb_(2)Te_(5)(GST),achromatic metasurface optical device in the longer-infrared wavelength is designed.With the combination of the linear phase gradient GST nanopillar and the adjustment of the crystalline fraction m value of GST,the polarization insensitive achromic metalenses and beam deflector metasurface within the longer-infrared wavelength 9.5μm to 13μm are realized.The design results show that the achromatic metalenses can be focused on the same focal plane within the working waveband.The simulation calculation results show that the fullwidth at half-maximum(FWHM)of the focusing spot reaches the diffraction limit at each wavelength.In addition,the same method is also used to design a broadband achromatic beam deflector metasurface with the same deflection angle of 19°.The method proposed in this article not only provides new ideas for the design of achromatic metasurfaces,but also provides new possibilities for the integration of optical imaging,optical coding and other related optical systems.展开更多
Background and Aims:With high rates of recurrence post-treatment,hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide and the major cause of cancer death.To improve the overall survival of ...Background and Aims:With high rates of recurrence post-treatment,hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide and the major cause of cancer death.To improve the overall survival of HCC patients,identification of a reliable biomarker and precise early diagnosis of HCC remain major unsolved problems.Methods:We initially screened data from the Cancer Genome Atlas liver cancer cohort to identify potential prognosis-related genes.Then,a metaanalysis of five international HCC cohorts was implemented to validate such genes.Subsequently,artificial intelligence models(random forest and neural network)were trained to predict prognosis accurately,and a log-rank test was performed for validation.Finally,the correlation between the molecular hepatocellular carcinoma prognostic score(mHPS)and the stromal and immune scoring in HCC were explored.Results:A comprehensive list of 65 prognosis-related genes was obtained,most of which have been not extensively studied thus far.A universal HCC mHPS system depending on the expression pattern of only 23 genes was established.The mHPS system had general applicability to HCC patients(log-rank p<0.05)in a platform-independent manner(RNA sequencing or microarray).The mHPS was also correlated with the stromal and immune scoring in HCC,reflecting the status of the tumor immune microenvironment.Conclusions:Overall,the mHPS is an easy and cost-effective prognosis predicting system,which can disclose previously uncovered heterogeneity among patient subpopulations.The mHPS system can further stratify patients who are at the same clinical stage and should be valuable for precise treatment.Moreover,the prognosis-related genes recog-nized in this study have potential in targeted and immune therapy.展开更多

Overcooling causes thermal discomfort and wastes energy.Effectiveness of a novel dedicated outdoor air system(DOAS)consisting of a multi-stage direct expansion coil to generate extra-low temperature(XT)outdoor air to ...Overcooling causes thermal discomfort and wastes energy.Effectiveness of a novel dedicated outdoor air system(DOAS)consisting of a multi-stage direct expansion coil to generate extra-low temperature(XT)outdoor air to handle the entire space cooling demand for better energy and humidity control has been confirmed in previous studies.In these studies,the terminal system was assumed using variable air volume(VAV)without reheating.The conventional VAV system without reheating has overcooling problem.This is associated with uncertain fluctuations of operating characteristics.However,virtually no study has been done to investigate its overcooling risk,and how it is compared with XT-DOAS.In this study,a rigorous probabilistic approach is proposed to account for the uncertain fluctuations of operating characteristics to assess their overcooling risks.Monte Carlo simulations with 10,000 interactions was used for risk analysis.A morphing method was employed to develop 10,000 weather files that could give an accurate prediction of future variations in yearly weather conditions.Reliable datasets were used to develop the probability distribution functions to account for the daily variations in use patterns.The most probable operating characteristics were input to EnergyPlus for hour-by-hour simulations.The annual cooling load profile formulated by the probabilistic approach was successfully validated by in-situ measurements.The probabilistic assessment results show that XT-DOAS has far less overcooling hours and lower long-term percentage of dissatisfied than the conventional VAV system.The results also indicate that the proposed probabilistic approach is useful for a robust system performance evaluation.展开更多
