Ginger oil-loaded transdermal adhesive patch treats post-traumatic stress disorder

Objective:To find a viable alternative to reduce the number of doses required for the patients with post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD),and to improve efficacy and patient compliance.Methods: In this study,we used ginger oil,a phytochemical with potential therapeutic properties,to prepare ginger oil patches.High-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)was used to quantify the main active component of ginger oil,6-gingerol.Transdermal absorption experiments were conducted to optimize the various pressure-sensitive adhesives and permeation enhancers,including their type and concentration.Subsequently,the ginger oil patches were optimized and subjected to content determination and property evaluations.A PTSD mouse model was established using the foot-shock method.The therapeutic effect of ginger oil patches on PTSD was assessed through pathological sections,behavioral tests,and the evaluation of biomarkers such as tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),interleukin-6(IL-6),brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF),and melatonin(MT).Results: The results demonstrated that ginger oil patches exerted therapeutic effects against PTSD by inhibiting inflammatory responses and modulating MT and BDNF levels.Pharmacokinetic experiments revealed that ginger oil patches maintained a stable blood drug concentration for at least one day,addressing the rapid metabolism drawback of 6-gingerol and enhancing its therapeutic efficacy.Conclusions: Ginger oil can be prepared as a transdermal drug patch that meets these requirements,and the bioavailability of the prepared patch is better than that of oral administration.It can improve PTSD with good patient compliance and ease of administration.Therefore,it is a promising therapeutic formulation for the treatment of PTSD. 展开更多

Background The benefit/risk ratio of stenting in acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with single vessel intermediate stenosis culprit lesions merits further study, therefore the subject of the present study. Methods and results It was a pro- spective, multicenter, randomized controlled trial. Between April 2012 and July 2015, 399 acute STEMI patients with single vessel disease and intermediate (40%-70%) stenosis of the culprit lesion before or after aspiration thrombectomy and/or intracoronary tirofiban (15 pg/kg) were enrolled and were randomly assigned (h 1) to stenting group (n = 201) and non-stenting group (n = 198). In stenting group, patients received pharmacologic therapy plus standard percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with stent implantation. In non-stenting group, pa- tients received pharmacologic therapy and PCI (thrombectomy), but without dilatation or stenting. Primary endpoint was 12-month rate of major adverse cardiac and eerebrovascular events (MACCE), a composite of cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction (M1), repeat re- vascularization and stroke. Secondary endpoints were 12-month rates of all cause death, ischemia driven admission and bleeding complica- tion. Median follow-up time was 12.4 ~ 3.1 months. At 12 months, MACCE occurred in 8.0% of the patients in stenting group, as compared with 15.2% in the non-stenting group (adjusted HR: 0.42, 95% Ch 0.19-0.89, P = 0.02). The stenting group had lower non-fatal MI rate than non-stenting group, (1.5% vs. 5.5%, P = 0.03). The two groups shared similar cardiac death, repeat revascularization, stroke, all cause death, ischemia driven readmission and bleeding rates at 12 months. Conclusions Stent implantation had better efficacy and safety in reducing MACCE risks among acute STEMI patients with single vessel intermediate stenosis culprit lesions. 展开更多

Background Interleukin (IL)-10, IL-6 and their ratio (IL-6/IL-10) play an important role in the risk of developing coronary artery disease, and may correlate with its outcomes. Few clinical trials have investigated the prognostic impact of these factors on long-term car- diovascular events in patients presented with chest pain. Methods A prospective study was performed on 566 patients admitted with chest pain and identified mild to moderate coronary artery lesions. 1L-10, IL-6 and IL-6/IL-10 were measured. Results A total of 511 patients com- pleted the follow-up. The median follow-up time was 74 months. Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated a clear increase of the incidence of major adverse cardiac events during the follow-up period in patients with below-median levels of IL-10 (P = 0.006) and above-median levels of IL-6/IL-10 (P = 0.012). Multivariate Cox proportional hazards analysis indicated the IL-10 levels to be strong independent predictors after adjustment for underlying confounders. Conclusions Elevated IL-10 levels are associated with a more favorable long-term prognosis in patients with chest pain and mild to moderate coronary artery lesions. IL-10 could be used for early risk assessment of long-term prognosis. 展开更多

Wearable and portable mobile phones play a critical role in the market, and one of the key technologies is the flexible electrode with high specific capacity and excellent mechanical flexibility. Herein, a wire-in-wire TiO_(2)/C nanofibers (TiO_(2) ww/CN) film is synthesized via electrospinning with selenium as a structural inducer. The interconnected carbon network and unique wire- in-wire nanostructure cannot only improve electronic conductivity and induce effective charge transports, but also bring a superior mechanic flexibility. Ulti-mately, TiO_(2) ww/CN film shows outstanding electrochemical performance as free-standing electrodes in Li/K ion batteries. It shows a discharge capacity as high as 303 mAh g^(−1) at 5 A g^(−1) after 6000 cycles in Li half-cells, and the unique structure is well-reserved after long-term cycling. Moreover, even TiO_(2) has a large diffusion barrier of K^(+), TiO_(2) ww/CN film demonstrates excellent perfor-mance (259 mAh g^(−1) at 0.05 A g^(−1) after 1000 cycles) in K half-cells owing to extraordinary pseudocapacitive contribution. The Li/K full cells consisted of TiO_(2) ww/CN film anode and LiFePO_(4)/Perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic dianhydride cathode possess outstanding cycling stability and demonstrate practical application from lighting at least 19 LEDs. It is, therefore, expected that this material will find broad applications in portable and wearable Li/K-ion batteries. 展开更多

To standardize and improve the level of clinical diagnosis and treatment of cold injury in China, it is necessary to make a consensus that is practical and adapted to the conditions in China. We used the latest population-level epidemiological and clinical research data, combined with relevant literature from China and foreign countries. The consensus was developed by a joint committee of multidisciplinary experts. This expert consensus addresses the epidemiology, diagnosis, on-site emergency procedures, in-hospital treatment, and prevention of cold injury. 展开更多

Long term outcomes of drug-eluting stent versus coronary artery bypass grafting for left main coronary artery disease: a meta-analysis 被引量:3

Background It is still controversial whether percutaneous coronary intervention with drug-eluting stent (DES) is safe and effective compared to coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) for unprotected left main coronary artery (ULMCA) disease at long-term follow up (≥3 years). Methods Eligible studies were selected by searching PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library up to December 6, 2016. The primary endpoint was a composite of death, myocardial infarction (MI) or stroke during the longest follow-up. Death, cardiac death, MI, stroke and repeat revascularization were the secondary outcomes. Results Four randomized controlled trials and twelve adjusted observational studies involving 14,130 patients were included. DES was comparable to CABG regarding the occurrence of the primary endpoint (FIR = 0.94, 95% CI: 0.86-1.03). Besides, DES was significantly associated with higher incidence of MI (HR = 1.56, 95% CI: 1.09-2.22) and repeat revascularization (HR = 3.09, 95% CI: 2.33-4.10) compared with CABG, while no difference was found between the two strategies regard as the rate of death, cardiac death and stroke. Furthermore, DES can reduce the risk of the composite endpoint of death, MI or stroke (HR = 0.80, 95% CI: 0.67-0.95) for ULMCA lesions with SYNTAX score ≤32. Conclusions Although with higher risk of repeat revascularization, PCI with DES appears to be as safe as CABG for ULMCA disease at long-term follow up. In addition, treatment with DES could be an alternative interventional strategy to CABG for ULMCA lesions with low to intermediate anatomic complexity. 展开更多

Objective:To study the effects of methylprednisolone combined with montelukast on immune function and cytokines in children with recurrent Henoch-Schonlein purpura.Methods:Children who were diagnosed with recurrent Henoch-Schonlein purpura in Zigong Third People's Hospital between September 2015 and August 2017 were selected as the research subjects and randomly divided into the intervention group who received methylprednisolone combined with montelukast therapy and the control group who received hydrocortisone therapy. The levels of Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg immunity indexes in peripheral blood as well as cytokines in serum were measured before treatment as well as 4 and 8 weeks after treatment.Results: 4 weeks and 8 weeks after treatment, Th1 and Treg cell contents as well as T-bet and FoxP3 mRNA expression in peripheral blood of both groups of patients were significantly higher than those before treatment whereas Th2 and Th17 cell contents as well as GATA-3 and RORγt mRNA expression in peripheral blood and NF-κB, OPN, IL-33, MK and HMGB1 contents in serum were significantly lower than those before treatment, and Th1 and Treg cell contents as well as T-bet and FoxP3 mRNA expression in peripheral blood of intervention group were significantly higher than those of control group whereas Th2 and Th17 cell contents as well as GATA-3 and RORγt mRNA expression in peripheral blood and NF-κB, OPN, IL-33, MK and HMGB1 contents in serum were significantly lower than those of control group.Conclusion: methylprednisolone combined with montelukast treatment of recurrent Henoch-Schonlein purpura can regulate the immune function and inhibit the cytokine secretion. 展开更多

The duration of vehicle fire incidents has been closely associated with incidents loss. Understanding the influential priority of factors is significant to take targeted countermeasures for the managements. Based on the database from WSDOT (Washington Department of Transportation) in USA, we analyze the probability distribution of the vehicle fire accidents' duration. Then we classify the influential factors into the first-grade factors including three categories: time, incident type, operation and the second-grade factors including eight categories: quarter, week and day time, etc. Then GILA (grey relational analysis) model is applied to calculate grey relational grades of the influential factors. The results show that the most important factor of the first-grade factors is incident type, vehicles involved and agencies involved are the major factors among the second-grade factors. 展开更多

模拟临床的猪腹壁切口疝模型建立研究

目的探讨建立模拟临床的猪腹壁切口疝模型方法及其可行性。方法入组36只实验猪,采用开放手术切除腹白线并保留腹膜的方式建立猪腹壁切口疝模型,术后每周观察猪腹部隆起和猪的生长情况,确认腹壁切口疝形成时间。于造模术后3个月行腹腔镜... 目的探讨建立模拟临床的猪腹壁切口疝模型方法及其可行性。方法入组36只实验猪,采用开放手术切除腹白线并保留腹膜的方式建立猪腹壁切口疝模型,术后每周观察猪腹部隆起和猪的生长情况,确认腹壁切口疝形成时间。于造模术后3个月行腹腔镜联合开腹手术,测量腹壁腱膜缺损大小(缺损长径、短径、面积)、确诊切口疝形成的则行疝环单纯缝合修复。修复术后每周观察腹壁切口疝复发情况,验证腹壁切口疝模型能否模拟临床切口疝的病理生理。结果造模后,36只猪均活动良好,无死亡。所有猪造模后生长情况良好。36只猪在造模术后1个月左右均出现腹部隆起,触诊形成腹壁切口疝。均于造模术后3个月时行腹腔镜联合开腹手术下疝环单纯缝合修复术,所有猪在修复术后1个月左右(平均25 d)出现疝复发,腹壁疝造模均成功。其成模时的疝环长径、疝环短径、疝环面积大于造模时的腹壁缺损长径、缺损短径及缺损面积,差异均有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论采用本文的造模方法可以建立有效而稳定、无自愈倾向能模拟临床切口疝病理生理的猪腹壁切口疝模型。 展开更多

Phospholipase C zeta(PLC)is a key sperm-borne oocyte-activating factor that triggers Ca^(2+)oscillations and the subsequent block to polyspermy following gamete fusion.Mutations in PLCZ1,the gene encoding PLCζ,cause male infertility and intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)fertilization failure;and PLCζ expression and localization patterns are significantly correlated with ICSI fertilization rate(FR).However,in conventional in vitro fertilization(cIVF),whether and how sperm PLCζ affects fertilization remain unclear.Herein,we identified one previously reported and two novel PLCZ1 mutations associated with polyspermy in vitro that are characterized by excessive sperm-zona binding and a delay in pronuclei(PN)formation.Immunofluorescence staining and oocyte activation testing revealed that virtually all spermatozoa from patients lacked functional PLCζ and were thus unable to evoke Ca^(2+) oscillations.ICSI with an artificial oocyte activation treatment successfully rescued the polyspermic phenotype and resulted in a live birth.Furthermore,we analyzed PLCζ in an additional 58 males after cIVF treatment in the Reproductive and Genetic Hospital of CiTiC-Xiangya(Changsha,China)between February 2019 and January 2022.We found that the proportion of spermatozoa that expressed PLCζ was positively correlated with both 2PN rate and total FR.The optimal cutoff value below which males were likely to experience low FR(total FR≤30%)after clVF was 56.7%for the proportion of spermatozoa expressing PLC5.Our study expands the mutation and the phenotypic spectrum of PLCZ1 and further suggests that PLCζ constitutes a promising biomarker for identifying low FRs cases in cIVF due to sperm-related oocyte activation deficiency and that sperm PLCζ analysis may benefit the widermale population and not onlymen with IcsI failure. 展开更多

Zinc-based flow battery is an energy storage technology with good application prospects because of its advantages of abundant raw materials,low cost,and environmental friendliness.The chemical stability of zinc electrodes exposed to electrolyte is a very important issue for zinc-based batteries.This paper reports on details of chemical stability of the zinc metal exposed to a series of solutions,as well as the relationship between the morphological evolution of zinc electrodes and their properties in an alkaline medium.Chemical corrosion of zinc electrodes by the electrolyte will change their surface morphology.However,we observed that chemical corrosion is not the main contributor to the evolution of zinc electrode surface morphology,but the main contributor is the Zn/Zn^(2+)electrode process.The morphological evolution of zinc electrodes was controlled by using ionic liquids,1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate(EMIA),and 1-propylsulfonic-3-methylimidazolium tosylate(PSMIT),and the electrode performance was recorded during the morphological evolution process.It was observed that the reversible change of zinc electrode morphology was accompanied by better electrode performance. 展开更多

Objective:To explore the new treatment strategies for radiation proctitis,which is the most common complication of pelvic tumor malignancies.Methods:Four cases of patients with severe radiation proctitis were treated with high-dosage vitamin C(VC,12–24 g/d,iv)combined with cyclooxygenase-2(cyclooxygenase-2,COX-2)inhibitors.Results:For these four cases,the diarrhea,hematochezia,tenesmus,pain,and other symptoms were significantly improved.The edema of the rectal wall is also significantly improved in the imaging review.Conclusion:The high-dosage VC combined with the treatment of severe radiation proctitis is safe and effective. 展开更多

目的观察研究基底膜生物补片应用于腹腔内修补(IPOM)大鼠腹壁部分层次缺损手术引导腹壁组织再生的过程。方法选取21只健康大鼠,建立腹壁部分层次缺损模型。3只作为对照组观察造模效果;18只在造模后,分别用4层和12层基底膜补片进行修补,... 目的观察研究基底膜生物补片应用于腹腔内修补(IPOM)大鼠腹壁部分层次缺损手术引导腹壁组织再生的过程。方法选取21只健康大鼠,建立腹壁部分层次缺损模型。3只作为对照组观察造模效果;18只在造模后,分别用4层和12层基底膜补片进行修补,每组各9只,于术后2、3、4周各取3只大鼠处死取其修复区及其周围组织进行观察,通过大体观察、组织病理染色、新生血管标记和间皮细胞免疫荧光标记,观察研究生物补片在修复早期引导腹膜和组织再生的基本过程和机制。结果补片植入术后2周的大体观察和新生血管标记结果表明基底膜生物补片显著促进组织的血管化,新生血管从补片网孔处向周围蔓延发散形成血供网络;HE和马松染色表明补片腹壁侧和腹腔侧有明显组织再生,新生组织从补片网孔处向周围蔓延,覆盖、包裹补片;间皮细胞免疫荧光标记表明,在腹腔侧新生组织表面形成扁平的连续间皮细胞层,即腹膜再生。结论IPOM腹壁修复中,基底膜生物补片在早期可以引导组织和腹膜再生,新生组织和血管通过网孔从腹壁侧向腹腔侧蔓延,并在补片表面形成组织层和连续的间皮细胞层,可以有效防止补片与内脏粘连的发生。 展开更多

目的评估模拟腹内压力对生物疝修补补片分层性能的影响及全层腹壁肌缺损比格犬体内植入修补术后的疝复发风险。方法选择两种市售生物疝修补补片作为样本[基底膜与小肠黏膜下层复合细胞外基质补片(BM/SIS复合补片)和小肠黏膜下层补片(SI... 目的评估模拟腹内压力对生物疝修补补片分层性能的影响及全层腹壁肌缺损比格犬体内植入修补术后的疝复发风险。方法选择两种市售生物疝修补补片作为样本[基底膜与小肠黏膜下层复合细胞外基质补片(BM/SIS复合补片)和小肠黏膜下层补片(SIS补片)],模拟腹腔内生物补片持续受力的环境,在生理盐水中分别对补片进行20000次循环机械拉伸(拉伸率设置为:±10%和±20%),以研究力学加载对补片分层性能的影响。选择4只比格犬,切除整个腹壁组织进行全层腹壁肌缺损造模,并采用不同(BM/SIS、SIS)生物补片进行修补,术后比格犬均饲养2周后处死,取出补片以及周围组织,观察补片植入动物体内后的分层和疝复发现象。结果经过20000次循环机械拉伸后,BM/SIS复合补片未见明显分层和厚度变化;全层腹壁肌缺损比格犬体内植入后组织修复效果较好,未见疝复发。SIS补片在±10%循环机械拉伸下层间距增加,厚度显著增加(P=0.007);在±20%的循环机械拉伸下分层明显,补片厚度显著增加(P=0.001);动物体内植入2周后,可见补片明显分层,与组织融合较差。结论BM/SIS生物补片层间结构稳定,不易发生分层,补片强度稳定,可以有效防止补片分层造成的疝复发风险。 展开更多

Mo has been widely reported as a conducive element for the corrosion resistance of massive alloy sys-tems.However,the mechanism of Mo optimizing the corrosion resistance is complicated,and in-depth studies are still required.The present work comprehensively and quantitatively studied the critical influ-ences of Mo on the passivation and repassivation behavior of CoCrFeNi HEA based on the dissolution-diffusion-deposition model proposed in our previous work.The experimental results indicated that Mo remarkably eliminated the metastable pitting corrosion,significantly improved the breakdown potential and perfectly protected the CoCrFeNiMo_(0.2)HEA from pitting corrosion.The modelling and X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy(XPS)results both show that in the passivation process,MoO_(2)was the last product to deposit,thereby existing in the outer layer of the passive film.Mo addition increased the Cr content by weakening the deposition of Fe_(2)O_(3)and Fe_(3)O_(4)and also improved the Cr_(2)O_(3)/Cr(OH)3 ratio by promot-ing deprotonation of Cr(OH)_(3),thus enhancing the quality of passive film.Besides,when pitting corrosion occurred,MoO_(2),MoO_(3),and FeMoO_(4)were the first products to deposit and accelerated the repassivation process of HEA by timely covering the matrix in the pit cavity,thereby preventing further corrosion of the matrix. 展开更多

Downstream Competition and Upstream Innovation:Theory and Evidence from China

Competition is the catalyst of corporate innovation,which is the foundation of a country's core competitiveness.From the view of vertical industrial chain,this paper examines how downstream competition affects upstream firms'innovation output.Given innovation helps reduce the production cost of each product,increasing demand of intermediate products caused by downstream competition enhances the marginal revenue of upstream firms'innovation,thus leading to an innovation incentive effect.To identify causality,we utilize China's WTO accession,a quasinatural experiment,to calculate downstream competition combined with import tariff reduction and input-output table,and then run a difference-in-difference regression.Using the data of Annual Survey of Industrial Firms and State Intellectual Property Office,our results find that downstream competition has a significantly positive impact on upstream firms'innovation,and this effect is more pronounced in firms with less industry competition,greater initial innovation capacity and weaker financial constraints.Moreover,the number of firms,the degree of industry competition and the scale of intermediate products in the downstream sector increase,confirming the market size channel.In sum,our findings document that downstream competition can motivate upstream firms to innovate through vertical industrial chain,providing some useful insights for China to build a fair market competition environment and promote innovation-driven growth regime. 展开更多
