Investigation on mechanical properties regulation of rock-like specimens based on 3D printing and similarity quantification

3D printing is widely adopted to quickly produce rock mass models with complex structures in batches,improving the consistency and repeatability of physical modeling.It is necessary to regulate the mechanical properti... 3D printing is widely adopted to quickly produce rock mass models with complex structures in batches,improving the consistency and repeatability of physical modeling.It is necessary to regulate the mechanical properties of 3D-printed specimens to make them proportionally similar to natural rocks.This study investigates mechanical properties of 3D-printed rock analogues prepared by furan resin-bonded silica sand particles.The mechanical property regulation of 3D-printed specimens is realized through quantifying its similarity to sandstone,so that analogous deformation characteristics and failure mode are acquired.Considering similarity conversion,uniaxial compressive strength,cohesion and stress–strain relationship curve of 3D-printed specimen are similar to those of sandstone.In the study ranges,the strength of 3D-printed specimen is positively correlated with the additive content,negatively correlated with the sand particle size,and first increases then decreases with the increase of curing temperature.The regulation scheme with optimal similarity quantification index,that is the sand type of 70/140,additive content of 2.5‰and curing temperature of 81.6℃,is determined for preparing 3D-printed sandstone analogues and models.The effectiveness of mechanical property regulation is proved through uniaxial compression contrast tests.This study provides a reference for preparing rock-like specimens and engineering models using 3D printing technology. 展开更多

Fusarium crown rot(FCR) is a soilborne disease causing severe yield losses in many wheat-growing areas of the world. Diseased plants show browning and necrosis of roots and stems causing white heads at maturity. Little is known about the molecular processes employed by wheat roots to respond to the disease. We characterized morphological, transcriptional and hormonal changes in wheat seedling roots following challenge with Fusarium pseudograminearum(Fp), the main pathogen of FCR. The pathogen inhibited root development to various extents depending on plants' resistance level. Many genes responsive to FCR infection in wheat roots were enriched in plant hormone pathways. The contents of compounds involved in biosynthesis and metabolism of jasmonic acid, salicylic acid, cytokinin and auxin were drastically changed in roots at five days post-inoculation. Presoaking seeds in methyl jasmonate for 24 h promoted FCR resistance, whereas presoaking with cytokinin 6-benzylaminopurine made plants more susceptible. Overexpression of TaOPR3, a gene involved in jasmonic acid biosynthesis, enhanced plant resistance as well as root and shoot growth during infection. 展开更多

As a promising candidate electrode material in both Li-and Na-ion batteries(L/SIBs),the application of Co_(9)S_(8) is being hindered by its unsatisfactory electrochemical performance caused by the sluggish ion diffusion kinetics and drastic volume expansion.Herein,a hybrid material composed of Co_(9)S_(8-x),N-doped carbon foam that seeded with Co nanoparticles(Co_(9)S_(8-x)@Co-NC) is constructed.Particularly,theoretical and experimental results imply that a built-in electric field at the interface of Co and NC is observed due to the variation of Fermi levels,forming rich Mott-Schottky-like heterointerfaces,which can significantly enhance the charge transfer capability between the active materials of Co_(9)S_(8) and conductive NC skeleton.Moreover,the sulfur defects in Co_(9)S_(8-x)can not only effectively lower the energy barrier of the ion diffusion and charge transfer processes,but also endow the target sample with more storage/adsorption/active sites for Li^(+)/Na^(+) ions,thus improving the rate performance of the Co_(9)S_(8-x)@Co-NC composite.As a result,the Co_(9)S_(8-x)@Co-NC exhibits fast surface-controlled redox kinetics and robust cycling stability.For instance,the Co_(9)S_(8-x)@Co-NC displays impressive Li-storage properties in both half and full cells with a high reversible capacity of 1007.4 mA h g^(-1)at 0.1 A g^(-1)after 100 cycles and superior rate capability up to 5 A g^(-1).Moreover,based on these comprehensive merits,the Co_(9)S_(8-x)@Co-NC composite shows decent electrochemical performance(472.2 and 311.1 mA h g^(-1)at 0.1 and 10 A g^(-1),respectively) as an anode for SIBs.This work presents an effective strategy for the construction of Mott-Schottky-like heterointerfaces in Co_(9)S_(8) based materials and provides specific inspiration for future works designing high-performance electrodes via interfacial engineering. 展开更多

Hydrogen and lithium,along with their compounds,are crucial materials for nuclear fusion research.High-pressure studies have revealed intricate structural transitions in all these materials.However,research on lithium hydrides beyond LiH has mostly focused on the low-temperature regime.Here,we use density functional theory and ab initio molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the behavior of LiH_(2),a hydrogen-rich compound,near its melting point.Our study is particularly relevant to the low-pressure region of the compression pathway of lithium hydrides toward fusion.We discovered a premelting superionic phase transition in LiH_(2)that has significant implications for its mass transportation,elastic properties,and sound velocity.The theoretical boundary for the superionic transition and melting temperature was then determined.In contrast,we also found that the primary compound of lithium hydrides,LiH,does not exhibit a superionic transition.These findings have important implications for optimizing the compression path to achieve the ignition condition in inertial confinement fusion research,especially when lithium tritium-deuteride(LiTD)is used as the fuel. 展开更多

[Objectives]This study was conducted to evaluate the nutritional value and safety of black soldier flies fed with dead pig meat and bone meal(DPMBM)and to explore the resource utilization of DPMBM.[Methods]The general nutrient composition,amino acids,fatty acids and mineral elements of black soldier fly meal(BSLM)were detected and analyzed.[Results]The results showed that the contents of moisture,crude protein,crude fat and ash in BSLM were 3.42%,42.31%,34.04%and 5.40%,respectively.The contents of total amino acids(TAA),essential amino acids(∑EAA)and non-essential amino acids(∑NEAA)and umami amino acids(∑DAA),the EAA/TAA value and the EAA/NEAA value were 37.93%,13.08%,24.85%,13.43%,34.47%,52.61%,respectively.A total of eight kinds of saturated fatty acids and seven kinds of unsaturated fatty acids were detected,accounting for 63.65%and 32.67%of the total fatty acids.Among the major mineral elements,the content of Ca was the highest,followed by K,Mg and Na.Among the trace mineral elements,the content of Mn was the highest,followed by Fe,Zn,Cu,Ni,Cr,Cd,As,Pb,Se,Sn,Ti,Sb and Hg.The contents of heavy metal mineral elements in BSLM were far lower than the limits specified in Hygienical Standard for Feeds.[Conclusions]In conclusion,BSLM has high nutritional value and good safety of heavy metals,and thus great potential for development and utilization as a high quality dietary protein,fat and mineral elements source. 展开更多

The density and viscosity of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate[BMIM][BF4]and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride[BMIM][Cl]and their binary mixtures within the temperatures from 303.15 K to323.15 K and at ambient pressure were determined in this work.The temperature dependences of density and viscosity were satisfactorily described with the linear model and the Vogel-Tammann-Fulcher type equation,respectively.The molar volume and viscosity of binary IL mixtures were predicted through ideal mixing rules showing that almost null deviations for IL mixtures were observed and their mixing was remarkably close to linear ideal behavior in the molar volumes,while comparatively large errors in viscosity occurred.Additionally,the molar volume of the investigated pure ILs and their mixtures could well be predicted by a predictive model presented by Valderrama et al.(Fluid Phase Equilib.,275(2009)145). 展开更多

The Late Paleozoic and Mesozoic tectonic framework of the Nanpanjiang Basin has much been disputed.Herein,the middle-acid volcanic rock,dacite,exposed to the Zhesang gold district,southeast Yunnan Province,has been analyzed.The results show that the dacite belongs to a calc-alkaline series,SiO_(2)contents range from 62.79 to 76.66 wt%.Zircon SHRIMP U–Pb dating of dacite demonstrates that they were formed in the Early Triassic(247.8±1.7 Ma,MSWD=1.2).All samples exhibit enrichment in LILE(e.g.Rb,K,Th,and U),and depletion in HFSE(e.g.Nb,Ta,and Ti),which has the geochemical affinity of I-type granite.La–La/Sm and La–La/Yb discrimination diagrams show that the partial melting,mainly of the mafic lower crust,of rocks,plays a major role in the formation process.The dacite has low initial ^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr ratios(0.706954 to 0.708589)and negative ε_(Nd)(t)values(-11.77 to-10.88).Zircons in dacite have ε_(Hf)(t)values of-16.2 to-8.3,and the two-stage Hf model ages are 1799–2301 Ma,mostly concentrated between 1800 and 1900 Ma,indicating that the magma source area is the reconstructed ancient lower crust mixed with some mantle materials,and crystal fractionation process underwent in the late stage of magma migration.This study reveals that the arc-volcanic rocks of the Early Triassic in the southern margin of the Nanpanjiang Basin were formed by the subduction of the Late Paleozoic ocean basin within the border region between China and Vietnam. 展开更多

The conventional distillation is hard to accomplish the separation of acetonitrile/ethyl acetate/n-hexane mixture. Herein, a heterogeneous azeotropic distillation(HAD) without adding entrainer is proposed to separate ternary mixture. The proposed scheme is optimized via the simulated annealing algorithm and minimum total annual cost(TAC) is used as objective functions. To minimize energy consumption,heat pump is added on the basis of optimal heterogeneous azeotropic distillation and heat integration technology is used to further improve the energy recovery. The TAC, gas emission, energy consumption and exergy destruction are used to discuss the economy and environmental protection of processes.Among all the processes, the heat pump with higher preheating temperature(HPT) assisted HAD process by combining with heat integration(HAD-HPT-HI) has best performances on economic, environment,energy and exergy. Compared with conventional HAD process, the HAD-HPT-HI achieves the reductions of 52.17%, 68.86%, 65.87% and 65.46% on TAC, total energy consumption, gas emissions and exergy destruction, respectively. 展开更多

Wheat awns contribute to photosynthesis and grain production.In this study,an F2population and F2:3families from a cross between the awned line 7D12 and the Chinese awnless variety Shiyou 20(SY20)were used to identify loci associated with awn length.Bulked-segregant RNA sequencing and linkage mapping identified a single dominant locus in a 0.3 cM interval on chromosome 5AL.Five genes were in the interval,including the recently cloned awn inhibitor B1.Although a single copy of the B1 gene was detected in 7D12,SY20 carried five copies of the gene.Increased copy number of B1 in SY20enhanced gene expression.Based on sequence variation among the promoter regions of five B1 gene copies in SY20,two dominant markers were developed and found to cosegregate with B1 in a population of 931 wheat accessions.All 77 awnless accessions harbored sequence variations in the B1 promoter regions similar to those of SY20 and thus carried multiple copies of the gene,whereas 15 randomly selected awned wheats carried only one copy.These results suggest that an increase in copy number of the B1 gene is associated with inhibition of awn length. 展开更多

Extractive distillation(ED)and solvent-assisted pressure-swing distillation(SA-PSD)are both special distillation processes that perform good at separating pressure-insensitive azeotropes.However,few reported studies have compared the performance of the two processes.In this paper,ED processes with N-methylpyrrolidone(NMP)and dimethlac-etamide(DMCA)as entrainer,SA-PSD process with isopropyl-alcohol(IPA)as solvent and SA-PSD process with partial heat integration(PHI-PSD)are proposed to achieve high purity separation of a mixture of cyclohexane/2-butanol system.The optimal operating conditions of the processes are obtained after optimizing with NSGA-Ⅱ algorithm when total annual cost(TAC)and the entropy production of process are set as objectives.The optimal results show that the optimal PHI-PSD process has lower TAC by 28.7% and the lower entropy production by 39.5% than the optimal SA-PSD process while the ED process with NMP as entrainer has lower TAC by 50.9% and the lower entropy production by 56.1% than the optimal SA-PSD process.The optimal results show that the ED process with NMP as entrainer has the best economic and thermodynamic efficiency among the four proposed processes in this paper. 展开更多

Real-Time Spammers Detection Based on Metadata Features with Machine Learning

Spammer detection is to identify and block malicious activities performing users.Such users should be identified and terminated from social media to keep the social media process organic and to maintain the integrity of online social spaces.Previous research aimed to find spammers based on hybrid approaches of graph mining,posted content,and metadata,using small and manually labeled datasets.However,such hybrid approaches are unscalable,not robust,particular dataset dependent,and require numerous parameters,complex graphs,and natural language processing(NLP)resources to make decisions,which makes spammer detection impractical for real-time detection.For example,graph mining requires neighbors’information,posted content-based approaches require multiple tweets from user profiles,then NLP resources to make decisions that are not applicable in a real-time environment.To fill the gap,firstly,we propose a REal-time Metadata based Spammer detection(REMS)model based on only metadata features to identify spammers,which takes the least number of parameters and provides adequate results.REMS is a scalable and robust model that uses only 19 metadata features of Twitter users to induce 73.81%F1-Score classification accuracy using a balanced training dataset(50%spam and 50%genuine users).The 19 features are 8 original and 11 derived features from the original features of Twitter users,identified with extensive experiments and analysis.Secondly,we present the largest and most diverse dataset of published research,comprising 211 K spam users and 1 million genuine users.The diversity of the dataset can be measured as it comprises users who posted 2.1 million Tweets on seven topics(100 hashtags)from 6 different geographical locations.The REMS’s superior classification performance with multiple machine and deep learning methods indicates that only metadata features have the potential to identify spammers rather than focusing on volatile posted content and complex graph structures.Dataset and REMS’s codes are available on GitHub(www.github.com/mhadnanali/REMS). 展开更多

Birth defects have become a public health concern.The hazardous environmental factors exposure to embryos could increase the risk of birth defects.Cadmium,a toxic environmental factor,can cross the placental barrier during pregnancy.Pregnant woman may be subjected to cadmium before taking precautionary protective actions.However,the link between birth defects and cadmium remains obscure.Cadmium exposure can induce excessive apoptosis in neuroepithelium during embryonic development progresses.Cadmium exposure activated the p53 via enhancing the adenosine 5‘-monophosphate(AMP)-activated protein kinase(AMPK)and reactive oxygen species'(ROS)level.And cadmium decreases the level of Paired box 3(Pax3)and murine double minute 2(Mdm2),disrupting the process of p53 ubiquitylation.And p53 accumulation induced excessive apoptosis in neuroepithelium during embryonic development progresses.Excessive apoptosis led to the failure of neural tube closure.The study emphasizes that environmental materials may increase the health risk for embryos.Cadmium caused the failure of neural tube closure during early embryotic day.Pregnant women may be exposed by cadmium before taking precautionary protective actions,because of cadmium concentration-containing foods and environmental tobacco smoking.This suggests that prenatal cadmium exposure is a threatening risk factor for birth defects. 展开更多

油气混相过程的界面传质特性对气驱提高原油采收率技术非常重要。本文针对吉林某油田的实际油组分,采用分子动力学模拟研究了气驱油过程,分析了不同气体和驱替压力下油气两相的状态变化以及界面特性,获得不同驱替气体的最小混相压力(MMP... 油气混相过程的界面传质特性对气驱提高原油采收率技术非常重要。本文针对吉林某油田的实际油组分,采用分子动力学模拟研究了气驱油过程,分析了不同气体和驱替压力下油气两相的状态变化以及界面特性,获得不同驱替气体的最小混相压力(MMP)。结果表明,随着驱替气体压力的升高,气相的密度逐渐增大,油相膨胀密度降低,气相与油相的混合程度增强,油气两相界面厚度增加,界面张力随之减小。同时发现,驱替相中二氧化碳浓度越高,在同等气体压力下,油气界面更厚,油气混合程度更高。纯CO_(2)驱油得到的MMP远远小于纯N;驱油,当这两种气体摩尔比为1:1混合时MMP介于两种纯气体之间,说明要达到同样的驱油效果二氧化碳需要的压力更小。最后,本文从分子微观作用力角度解释了驱替气体不同时影响油气混相程度的机制,通过分子平均作用势曲线发现油相分子对CO_(2)的吸引力要大于N;分子,因此CO_(2)分子更容易与油相混合,驱替效果更明显。 展开更多

Atmospheric InfraRed Sounder (AIRS) measurements are a valuable supplement to current observational data,especially over the oceans where conventional data are sparse.In this study,two types of AIRS-retrieved temperature and moisture profiles,the AIRS Science Team product (SciSup) and the single field-of-view (SFOV) research product,were evaluated with European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) analysis data over the Atlantic Ocean during Hurricane Ike (2008) and Hurricane Irene (2011).The evaluation results showed that both types of AIRS profiles agreed well with the ECMWF analysis,especially between 200 hPa and 700 hPa.The average standard deviation of both temperature profiles was approximately 1 K under 200 hPa,where the mean AIRS temperature profile from the AIRS SciSup retrievals was slightly colder than that from the AIRS SFOV retrievals.The mean SciSup moisture profile was slightly drier than that from the SFOV in the mid troposphere.A series of data assimilation and forecast experiments was then conducted with the Advanced Research version of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model and its three-dimensional variational (3DVAR) data assimilation system for hurricanes Ike and Irene.The results showed an improvement in the hurricane track due to the assimilation of AIRS clear-sky temperature profiles in the hurricane environment.In terms of total precipitable water and rainfall forecasts,the hurricane moisture environment was found to be affected by the AIRS sounding assimilation.Meanwhile,improving hurricane intensity forecasts through assimilating AIRS profiles remains a challenge for further study. 展开更多

Accurate atmospheric temperature and moisture information with high temporal/spatial resolutions are two of the key parameters needed in regional numerical weather prediction(NWP) models to reliably predict high-impact weather events such as local severe storms(LSSs). High spectral resolution or hyperspectral infrared(HIR) sounders from geostationary orbit(GEO) provide an unprecedented source of near time-continuous, three-dimensional information on the dynamic and thermodynamic atmospheric fields—an important benefit for nowcasting and NWP-based forecasting. In order to demonstrate the value of GEO HIR sounder radiances on LSS forecasts, a quick regional OSSE(Observing System Simulation Experiment)framework has been developed, including high-resolution nature run generation, synthetic observation simulation and validation, and impact study on LSS forecasts. Results show that, on top of the existing LEO(low earth orbit) sounders, a GEO HIR sounder may provide value-added impact [a reduction of 3.56% in normalized root-mean-square difference(RMSD)] on LSS forecasts due to large spatial coverage and high temporal resolution, even though the data are assimilated every 6 h with a thinning of 60 km. Additionally, more frequent assimilations and smaller thinning distances allow more observations to be assimilated, and may further increase the positive impact from a GEO HIR sounder. On the other hand, with denser and more frequent observations assimilated, it becomes more difficult to handle the spatial error correlation in observations and gravity waves due to the limitations of current assimilation and forecast systems(such as a static background error covariance). The peak reduction of 4.6% in normalized RMSD is found when observations are assimilated every 3 h with a thinning distance of 30 km. 展开更多

Haploid inducers determine the efficiency of both haploid induction and identification. It has taken decades to improve the efficiency,haploid induction rate(HIR), from the ~2% of the ancestor haploid inducer, stock6, to the ~10% of modern haploid inducers. Improvement of kernel oil content(KOC) would further enhance haploid identification efficiency. Using molecular marker-assisted selection, in combine with the number of haploids per ear as phenotypic criterion, we developed a new high-oil haploid inducer line, CHOI4, with a mean HIR of 15.8%and mean KOC of 11%. High KOC of CHOI4 can achieve a mean accuracy greater than 90% in identification of haploids of different backgrounds, with reduced false discovery rates and false negative rates in comparison with the previous high-oil haploid inducer line, CHOI3. Comparison of phenotypic selection strategies suggested that the number of haploids per ear can be used as a phenotyping criterion during haploid inducer line development. CHOI4 could further increase the efficiency of large-scale DH breeding programs with lower cost. 展开更多

The separation of ethylene and ethane is a crucial,challenging and cost-intensive process in chemical engineering.Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)are a class of novel porous adsorbents used for the separation of ethylene/ethane mixtures.However,MOFs are normally crystalline powders that cause multiple problems,such as dust,abrasion and heat/mass loss,as well as significant pressure drops on the adsorption bed resulting in a sudden stop in production.To solve these issues,we have prepared four different sphere-shaped adsorbents,including Mg-gallate,Co-gallate,MUV-10(Mn)and MIL-53(Al)using a calcium alginate method to achieve excellent ethylene/ethane separation performance.The performance of the sphere-shaped adsorbents has been validated using mechanical strength measurements,powder X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,thermogravimetric analysis,gas adsorption isotherms and dynamic breakthrough experiments.The excellent mechanical strength of these sphere-shaped adsorbents meets the criteria for industrial application in gas separation.Thus,the energy consumption and operating cost will be further reduced in the ethylene production process.We believe that this shaping method will open a prosperous route to the development of MOFs toward higher technology levels and their commercial application. 展开更多

In this work, the simulations of the co-cracking of ethane and propane, and LPG and naphtha mixtures have been conducted, and the software packages of COILSIM1 D and Sim CO are used to account for the cracking process in a tube reactor. The effects of the mixing ratio, coil outlet temperature, and pressure on cracking performance have been discussed in detail. The co-cracking of ethane and propane mixture leads to a lower profitability than the cracking of single ethane or single propane. For naphtha, cracking with LPG leads to a higher profitability than single cracking of naphtha, and more LPG can produce a higher profitability. 展开更多

It is difficult to separate the methanol and hydrocarbons in the propylene oxide(PO)purification process due to their forming azeotrope.As for this,a novel PO separation process,in that the deionized water is employed as extractant and 1,2-propylene glycol(MPG)that is formed from the PO hydrolysis reaction is recovered,is presented in this work.The salient feature of this process is that both the non-catalyzed reactions of PO hydrolysis to form MPG and dipropylene glycol(DPG)are simultaneously considered and MPG by-product with high purity is obtained in virtue of the deionized water as reflux liquid and side take-off in MPG column.In addition,the ionic liquid(IL)extractant is screened through the conductorlike screening model for segment activity coefficient(COSMO-SAC)and the comparisons of separation efficiency between the IL and normal octane(nC_(8))extractant for the separation of PO and 2-methylpentane are made.With the non-random two-liquid(NRTL)thermodynamic model,the simulation and optimization design for the full flow sheet are performed and the effects of the key operation parameters such as solvent ratio,theoretical stages,feeding stage etc.on separation efficiency are detailedly discussed.The results show that the mass purity and the mass yield of PO can be up to 99.99%and 99.0%,and the condenser duty,reboiler duty and PO loss in the process with IL extractant can be decreased by 69.66%,30.21%and 78.86%compared to ones with nC_(8).The total annual cost(TAC)calculation also suggests that the TAC would be significantly reduced if using IL in replace of nC_(8) for the investigated process.The presented results would provide a useful guide for improving the quality of PO product and the economic efficiency of industrial plant. 展开更多

Faster internet, IoT, and social media have reformed the conventional web into a collaborative web resulting in enormous user-generated content. Several studies are focused on such content;however, they mainly focus on textual data, thus undermining the importance of metadata. Considering this gap, we provide a temporal pattern mining framework to model and utilize user-generated content's metadata. First, we scrap 2.1 million tweets from Twitter between Nov-2020 to Sep-2021 about 100 hashtag keywords and present these tweets into 100 User-Tweet-Hashtag (UTH) dynamic graphs. Second, we extract and identify four time-series in three timespans (Day, Hour, and Minute) from UTH dynamic graphs. Lastly, we model these four time-series with three machine learning algorithms to mine temporal patterns with the accuracy of 95.89%, 93.17%, 90.97%, and 93.73%, respectively. We demonstrate that user-generated content's metadata contains valuable information, which helps to understand the users' collective behavior and can be beneficial for business and research.
