The Sports Garbage Pickup Tournament is a sports event that incorporates elements of competition into cleaning activities,as opposed to traditional cleaning activities. As of the end of December 2016,a total of 552 Sports Garbage Pickup Tournaments have been held, mobilizing a cumulative total number of 62,989 people. As each tournament brings a revenue of over 300,000 yen,the total sales so far would be more than 165,000,000 yen. This game was recently reported on the International Olympic Committee channel. The garbage issue,a social problem for local communities, should be solved by residents, visitors, and workers themselves through sports, cooperating with local governments. This is an eco-friendly sport aimed at“solving local social problems through sports.”Sports Garbage Pickup Tournaments can be held anywhere, inside the city or in a natural environment. In addition, the competition allows participants to visually understand the environmental capacity of garbage produced in the community,as the points are weighted according to the types of garbage. The Sports Garbage Pickup Tournament is an educational program for sustainable development with emphasis on experience, pursuit, and practice, and also an action-based program aimed at promoting spontaneous action. This is an optimal competition for participants to acquire skills through mutual communication. As children, adults, and people with disabilities can play together, the competition will promote communication across the generations. 展开更多

In this research project,we focus on sports hospitality at the Rugby World Cup 2019 as a practical example of the qualitative pursuit of sports tourism in the Japanese tourism industry.STH Japan K.K.,Japan’s first company specializing in sports hospitality, hosted the first mega sports event held in Japan.A similar spectator service will next be implemented at the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.Sports hospitality is a new way to enjoy watching sports by adding a meal and entertainment before and after the match to the event ticket.Positioning and using sports hospitality as a tourism experience product,we can use qualitatively designed creative and effective methods that professional human resources could provide to tourists. This research project provides an overview of tourism experience products, looks at their economic effects at the Rugby World Cup 2019,and the sales results of the sports hospitality at the event.I conducted an observation survey at the Rugby World Cup 2019 Scotland vs.Samoa match held at Misaki Park Stadium(Kobe,Hyogo)on September 30,2019 focusing only on tourism products in that framework.I also conducted a qualitative survey on March 18,2020 in a semi-structured interview format with STH Japan K.K.senior advisors. The research results revealed the possibility of eliminating overtourism in spectator sports and the lack of sports hospitality spaces in Japan.Usually, when watching a sports match where many spectators gather, the uniform start and end times cause crowding and overtourism. The conventional challenge has been to create tourism products that reduce congestion and provide an enjoyable tourism experience.Sports hospitality is effective for relieving the stress caused by overtourism in spectator sports. In order to solve the shortage of sports hospitality spaces, one issue to consider is the deregulation by the government. 展开更多

This study’s dynamic survey of spectators at the HRS(Hanazono Rugby Stadium)in HOC(Higashi Osaka City)during the 2019 RWC(Rugby World Cup)tournament used location information big data to analyze nine items, including spectator attributes-60 min or more stay in HOC(excluding residents),more than 15 min stay in the HRS on match days(besides, the days before and after the match). To compare spectators, visitors to HOC during the matches were added to the target group. The results show that the RWC attracted a high number of male visitors aged 20,40,and 50 years, mainly from the Kinki region, whose stopovers inside and outside the region were limited to Osaka City.Stopovers in tourist areas unrelated to the RWC were few, partly because it was possible to undertake a day trip solely to watch the game without any stopovers. 展开更多
