Objective:Metastasis is one of the key causes of high mortality in lung cancer.Aberrant DNA methylation is a common event in metastatic lung cancer.We aimed to identify new epigenetic regulation of metastasis-associat...Objective:Metastasis is one of the key causes of high mortality in lung cancer.Aberrant DNA methylation is a common event in metastatic lung cancer.We aimed to identify new epigenetic regulation of metastasis-associated genes and characterize their effects on lung cancer progression.Methods:We screened genes associated with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)metastasis by integrating datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO)database.We obtained epigenetic-regulated candidate genes by analyzing the expression profile of demethylation genes.By overlapping analysis,epigenetically modulated metastasis-associated genes were obtained.Kaplan-Meier plotter(KM plotter)was utilized to assess the overall survival(OS)of stomatin in lung cancer.Immunohistochemistry(IHC)was conducted to determine the association between stomatin and metastasis-associated clinical indicators.Both in vitro and in vivo assays were performed to investigate the potential role of stomatin in metastasis.The regulation mechanisms of transforming growth factorβ1(TGFβ1)on stomatin were determined by Sequenom MassARRAY quantitative methylation and western blot assays.Results:A series of bioinformatic analyses revealed stomatin as the metastasis-associated gene regulated by DNA methylation.The KM plotter analysis showed a positive association between stomatin and the OS of lung cancer.IHC analysis indicated that the decreased stomatin expression is linked with advanced TNM stage.Loss-and gainof-function experiments displayed that stomatin could inhibit the migration and invasion of NSCLC cells.Furthermore,TGFβ1 repressed stomatin expression during epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition(EMT).The negative correlation between stomatin and TGFβ1 was also validated in advanced stage III lung tumor samples.The underlying mechanism by which TGFβ1 inhibits stomatin is due in part to DNA methylation.Conclusions:Our results suggest that stomatin may be a target for epigenetic regulation and can be used to prevent metastatic diseases.展开更多

Gel polymer electrolytes(GPEs)have attracted extensive attention in lithium-ion batteries due to their high security and excellent electrochemical performance.However,their inferior Li-ion transference number,low room...Gel polymer electrolytes(GPEs)have attracted extensive attention in lithium-ion batteries due to their high security and excellent electrochemical performance.However,their inferior Li-ion transference number,low room-temperature ionic conductivity,and poor long cycle stability raise challenges in practical applications.Herein,a flexible poly(vinylidene fluoride-cohexafluoropropylene)-butanedinitrile(PVDF-HFP-SN)-based GPE(PSGPE)is synthesized successfully by a general immersion precipitation method.The resultant PSGPEs have numerous connecting pores to ensure sufficient space for liquid electrolytes.Moreover,the reduced crystallinity of PVDF-HFP and the high polarity of SN can reduce the energy barrier of Li-ions shuttling between pores.The synergistic effect possesses a high ionic conductivity of 1.35 mS·cm^(-1)at room temperature with a high Li-ion transference number of 0.69.The PVDF-HFP-SN-based GPE is applied in a LiFePO_(4)/graphite battery,which can realize stable cycling performance for 350 cycles and good rate performance at room temperature.These results demonstrate that the novel PSGPE possesses advantage in simplified production process,which can improve the practicability of gel polymer lithium-ion batteries.展开更多
Importance:Preserving skin health is crucial for atopic dermatitis control as well as for the thriving of children.However,a well-developed and validated tool that measures the knowledge,attitude,and practice of skin ...Importance:Preserving skin health is crucial for atopic dermatitis control as well as for the thriving of children.However,a well-developed and validated tool that measures the knowledge,attitude,and practice of skin care is lacking.Objective:To develop and validate the atopic dermatitis and infant skincare knowledge,attitude,and practice(ADISKAP 1.0)scale that measures parental health literacy on atopic dermatitis and skin care.Methods:We conducted a review of the literature,a focus group(two dermatologists and 12 parents),and a panel discussion in order to generate the ADISKAP prototype.Two samples of parents with knowingly superior(dermatologists,n=59)and inferior(general population,n=395)knowledge traits participated in the validation of ADISKAP.Cronbach’s alpha was reported as a measure of internal consistency,and the intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC)was calculated to assess the test-retest validity.The known-groups technique was used to evaluate construct validity.Results:The ADISKAP scale contained 17 items after content and face validity validation.After removing items that displayed poor test-retest reliability(n=4)and construct validity(n=3),12 items were retained in the ADISKAP 1.0.Interpretation:ADISKAP 1.0 is a reliable and valid tool for assessing parental knowledge,attitude,and practice on infantile atopic dermatitis and skin care.展开更多

In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an all-fiber passively Q-switched erbium doped fiber laser (EDFL) by using gold nanostars (GNSs) as a saturable absorber (SA) for the first time, to the best of our know...In this paper, we propose and demonstrate an all-fiber passively Q-switched erbium doped fiber laser (EDFL) by using gold nanostars (GNSs) as a saturable absorber (SA) for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. In comparison with other gold nanomorphologies, GNSs have multiple localized surface plasmon resonances, which means that they can be used to construct wideband ultrafast pulse lasers. By inserting the GNS SA into an EDFL cavity pumped by a 980 nm laser diode, a stable passively Q-switched laser at 1564.5 nm was achieved for a threshold pump power of 40 mW. By gradually increasing the pump power from 40 to 120 mW, the pulse duration decreases from 12.8 to 5.3 its and the repetition rate increases from 10 to 17 kHz. Our results indicate that the GNSs are a promising SA for constructing pulse lasers.展开更多

Here, we report the third-order nonlinear optical response of gold nanorods(GNRs) ranging from 800 nm to the mid-infrared regime(2810 nm) enabled by their size and overlapping behavior-dependent longitudinal surface plasmon resonance. In addition, we demonstrate a wavelength-tunable Er3+-doped fluoride fiber laser modulated by GNRs, which can deliver pulsed laser output, with the pulse duration down to 533 ns, tunable wavelength ranging from 2760.2 to 2810.0 nm, and spectral 3 d B bandwidth of about 1 nm. The experimental results not only validate the GNRs’ robust mid-infrared nonlinear optical response, but also manifest their application potential in high-performance broadband optoelectronic devices.展开更多
