Real-world passive radiative cooling requires highly emissive,selective,and omnidirectional thermal emitters to maintain the radiative cooler at a certain temperature below the ambient temperature while maximizing the...Real-world passive radiative cooling requires highly emissive,selective,and omnidirectional thermal emitters to maintain the radiative cooler at a certain temperature below the ambient temperature while maximizing the net cooling power.Despite various selective thermal emitters have been demonstrated,it is still challenging to achieve these conditions sim-ultaneously because of the extreme difficulty in controlling thermal emission of photonic structures in multidimension.Here we demonstrated hybrid polar dielectric metasurface thermal emitters with machine learning inverse design,en-abling a high emissivity of~0.92 within the atmospheric transparency window 8-13μm,a large spectral selectivity of~1.8 and a wide emission angle up to 80 degrees,simultaneously.This selective and omnidirectional thermal emitter has led to a new record of temperature reduction as large as~15.4°C under strong solar irradiation of~800 W/m2,signific-antly surpassing the state-of-the-art results.The designed structures also show great potential in tackling the urban heat island effect,with modelling results suggesting a large energy saving and deployment area reduction.This research will make significant impact on passive radiative cooling,thermal energy photonics and tackling global climate change.展开更多

Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra and the measured contact angles were used to characterize the surface properties of the prepared particles. The foam stability was investigated by the foam drainage half-life and the expansion viscoelastic modulus of the liquid film. The results demonstrate that all of the modified silica nanoparticles effectively improve the foam stability. The surface hydrophobicity of the modified particles is found to be a key factor influencing the foam stability. The optimum contact angle of the particles lies in the ap- proximate range from 50° to 55°. The modifier molecular structure used can also influence the stabilizing foam property of the solid particles The foam system stabilized by (CH3)2SiCl2-modified silica particles exhibits the highest stability; its drainage half-life at maximum increases by 27% compared to that of the blank foam system and is substantially greater than those of the foam systems stabilized by KH570- and KH550-modified particles.展开更多
Sweet osmanthus(Osmanthus fragrans Lour.)is among the top ten most well-known flowers in China and is recognized as both an aromatic plant and ornamental flower.Here,manual sectioning,scanning electron microscopy,and ...Sweet osmanthus(Osmanthus fragrans Lour.)is among the top ten most well-known flowers in China and is recognized as both an aromatic plant and ornamental flower.Here,manual sectioning,scanning electron microscopy,and transmission electron microscopy of sweet osmanthus petals revealed that large amounts of lipids are present inside the petal cells and on the cell surfaces.However,no secretory structures were observed.Instead,the petal cells protrude slightly outward,and the surfaces of the cells are adorned with highly regular brush-shaped hairs.The surfaces of the‘Yingui’petals possessed mostly curled and more numerous hairs,whereas the‘Dangui’petals possessed fewer brush-shaped and more sparsely arranged hairs.In addition,many granular substances were attached to the brush-shaped hairs,and the granules were denser on the hairs of the‘Yingui’petals compared to the hairs on the‘Dangui’petals.Furthermore,35 aromatic components in the‘Yingui’petals and 30 aromatic components in the‘Dangui’petals were detected via GC-MS.The main aromatic component of the‘Yingui’petals wasβ-ionone,whereas that of the‘Dangui’petals was linalool and its oxides.Transcriptome sequencing and qRT-PCR indicated that the highβ-ionone content in the‘Yingui’petals was due to the overexpression of CCD1 and CCD4 and that the high linalool content in the‘Dangui’petals was due to the overexpression of MECS,HDR,IDI1,and LIS1,which function upstream of the linalool synthetic pathway.In particular,the expression levels of CCD4 and LIS1 were upregulated by 5.5-and 5.1-fold in the‘Yingui’and‘Dangui’petals,respectively.One transcription factor(ERF61)was cloned and named,and the expression pattern of ERF61 in sweet osmanthus petals was found to be generally consistent with that of CCD4.Tobacco transformation experiments,yeast one-hybrid experiments,and electrophoretic mobility shift assays indicated that ERF61 binds to the CCD4 promoter and stimulates CCD4 expression,thereby regulating the synthesis ofβ-ionone in sweet osmanthus petals.展开更多
Background: The interaction of the gut microbiota with key metabolic and physiological processes may be associated with poor growth outcomes in animals born with intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR).Results: Growth p...Background: The interaction of the gut microbiota with key metabolic and physiological processes may be associated with poor growth outcomes in animals born with intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR).Results: Growth performance, plasma hormone concentrations, and intestinal microbiota composition were analyzed in IUGR pigs and in normal birth weight(NBW) pigs when the NBW pigs reached 25, 50, and 100 kg of body weight(BW). Compared to NBW pigs, IUGR pigs had lower initial, weaned, and final BW, and lower average daily gain and average daily feed intake in all the considered time points. In the 25 kg BW group, IUGR pigs had higher concentrations of plasma ghrelin and pancreatic polypeptide(PP), but lower insulin concentration than NBW pigs, while the situation was reversed in the 50 kg BW group. As compared to NBW pigs, IUGR pigs had higher microbial alpha diversity in the jejunum and ileum;in the 50 and 100 kg BW groups, IUGR pigs had higher Firmicutes abundance but lower Proteobacteria abundance in the jejunum, and lower Lactobacillus abundance in the jejunum and ileum;in the 25 kg BW group, IUGR pigs showed higher unclassified Ruminococcaceae abundance in the ileum;and in 25 and 50 kg BW groups, IUGR pigs showed lower Ochrobactrum abundance in the jejunum.Spearman's correlation revealed that Lactobacillus was negatively correlated with growth performance, while unclassified Ruminococcaceae was positively correlated. Predictive metagenomic analysis detected significantly different expression of genes in the intestinal microbiota between IUGR and NBW pigs, suggesting different metabolic capabilities between the two groups.Conclusions: Growing-finishing IUGR pigs showed lower growth performance, higher microbial alpha diversity, and differences in plasma hormone concentrations compared to NBW pigs. Alterations in the abundance of Firmicutes,Proteobacteria, Ruminococcaceae, Lactobacillus, and Ochrobactrum in the small intestine may be associated with IUGR, and may therefore serve as a future target for gut microbiota intervention in growing-finishing IUGR pigs.展开更多

Compared with thermal catalytic processes, photocatalytic production of DFF from HMF has attracted tremendous attention. Herein, the MoS_(2)/CdIn_(2)S_(4)(MC)flower-like heterojunctions were prepared and considered as photocatalysts for selective oxidation of HMF into DFF under visible-light irradiation in aqueous solution. Results demonstrated MoS_(2) in MC heterojunction could promote the separation of photoexcited electron-hole pairs, while the amount of MoS_(2) dropping was proved influenced on the photocatalytic performance. 80.93% of DFF selectivity was realized when using 12.5% MC as photocatalyst. In addition, the MC catalyst also showed great potential in transformation of other biomass derived benzyl-and furyl-alcohols. The catalytic mechanism suggested that ·O_(2)^(-) was the decisive active radical for HMF oxidation. Therefore, the MC heterojunction could be applied in photocatalytic conversion of biomass to valuable chemicals under ambient condition.展开更多

However, the inherent bottlenecks, such as the low explosion of active sites, limit the application of bulk TMOs catalyst. In this study, V_(2)O_(5) nanoparticles with oxygen vacancies were prepared in large-scale via facile ball milling strategy with adding oxalic acid as a reducing agent. The as-prepared catalysts exhibit remarkable sulfur removal for oils with different initial S-concentrations and different substrates. Sulfur removal could reach up to 99.7%(< 2 ppm) under the optimized reaction conditions. This work provides a feasible desulfurization strategy for fuel oils.展开更多
AIM:To determine the risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) rupture,and report the management and long-term survival results of patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC.METHODS:Among 4209 patients with HCC who...AIM:To determine the risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) rupture,and report the management and long-term survival results of patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC.METHODS:Among 4209 patients with HCC who were diagnosed at Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital from April 2002 to November 2006,200(4.8%) patients with ruptured HCC(case group) were studied retrospectively in term of their clinical characteristics and prognostic factors.The one-stage therapeutic approach to manage ruptured HCC consisted of initial management by conservative treatment,transarterial embolization(TACE) or hepatic resection.Results of various treatments in the case group were evaluated and compared with the control group(202 patients) without ruptured HCC during the same study period.Continuous data were expressed as mean ± SD or me-dian(range) where appropriate and compared using the unpaired t test.Categorical variables were compared using the Chi-square test with Yates correction or the Fisher exact test where appropriate.The overall survival rate in each group was determined using the Kaplan-Meier method and a log-rank test.RESULTS:Compared with the control group,more patients in the case group had underlying diseases of hypertension(7.5% vs 3.0%,P =0.041) and liver cirrhosis(87.5% vs 56.4%,P < 0.001),tumor size >5 cm(83.0% vs 57.4%,P < 0.001),tumor protrusion from the liver surface(66.0% vs 44.6%,P < 0.001),vascular thrombus(30.5% vs 8.9%,P < 0.001) and extrahepatic invasion(36.5% vs 12.4%,P < 0.001).On multivariate logistic regression analysis,underlying diseases of hypertension(P = 0.002) and liver cirrhosis(P < 0.001),tumor size > 5 cm(P < 0.001),vascular thrombus(P = 0.002) and extrahepatic invasion(P < 0.001) were predictive for spontaneous rupture of HCC.Among the 200 patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC,105 patients underwent hepatic resection,33 received TACE,and 62 were managed with conservative treatment.The median survival time(MST) of all patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC was 6 mo(range,1-72 mo),and the overall survival at 1,3 and 5 years were 32.5%,10% and 4%,respectively.The MST was 12 mo(range,1-72 mo) in the surgical group,4 mo(range,1-30 mo) in the TACE group and 1 mo(range,1-19 mo) in the conservative group.Ninety-eight patients in the control group underwent hepatic resection,and the MST and median diseasefree survival time were 46 mo(range,6-93 mo) and 23 mo(range,3-39 mo) respectively,which were much longer than that of patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC undergoing hepatic resection(P < 0.001).The 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival rates and the 1-,3-and 5-year disease-free survival rates in patients with ruptured HCC undergoing hepatectomy were 57.1%,19.0% and 7.6%,27.6%,14.3% and 3.8%,respectively,compared with those of 77.1%,59.8% and 41.2%,57.1%,40.6% and 32.9% in 98 patients with-CONCLUSION:Prolonged survival can be achieved in selected patients undergoing one-stage hepatectomy,although the survival results were inferior to those of the patients without ruptured HCC.展开更多
Objective: To investigate the effect of Iptakalim(Ipt) preventing injury of endothelial microvesicles(EMVs) derived from hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R)-treated HUVECs on the relaxation of rat thoracic aortic rings and exp...Objective: To investigate the effect of Iptakalim(Ipt) preventing injury of endothelial microvesicles(EMVs) derived from hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R)-treated HUVECs on the relaxation of rat thoracic aortic rings and explore the underlying mechanism. Methods: H/R injury model was established to release H/R-EMVs from HUVECs. H/R-EMVs from HUVECs were isolated by ultracentrifugation from the conditioned culture medium. H/R-EMVs were characterized by using Transmission Electron Microscope(TEM). Thoracic aortic rings of rats were incubated with 10^(-7)-10^(-3 )mol/L Ipt and co-cultured with 10 μg/ml H/R-EMVs for 4 hours, and their endothelium- dependent relaxation in response to acetylcholine(ACh) was recorded in vitro. The nitric oxide(NO) production of ACh-treated rat thoracic aortic rings was measured by using Griess reagent. The expression of endothelial NO synthase(e NOS), phosphorylated e NOS(p-e NOS, Ser-1177), serine/threonine kinas(Akt) and phosphorylated Akt(p-Akt, Ser-473) in the thoracic aortic rings of rats was detected by Western blotting. Results: H/R-EMVs were induced by H/R-treated HUVECs and isolated by ultracentrifugation. The isolated H/R-EMVs subjected to TEM revealed small, rounded vesicles(100–1 000 nm) surrounded by a membrane. H/R-EMVs impaired relaxation induced by ACh of rat thoracic aortic rings significantly. Compared with H/R-EMVs treatment individually, relaxation and NO production of rat thoracic aortic rings were increased by Ipt treatment in a concentration-dependent manner(P<0.05, P<0.01). The expression of total e NOS(t-e NOS) and total Akt(t-Akt) was not affected by Ipt or H/R-EMVs. However, the expression of p-e NOS and p-Akt increased after treated with Ipt(P<0.01). Conclusion: Based on H/R-EMVs treatment, ACh induced endothelium-dependent relaxation of rat thoracic aortic rings was ameliorated by Ipt in a concentration-dependent manner. The mechanisms involved the increase in NO production, p-e NOS and p-Akt expression.展开更多
Background Intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR)is one of the major constraints in animal production.Our previ-ous study showed that piglets with IUGR are associated with abnormal bile acid(BA)metabolism.This study ex...Background Intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR)is one of the major constraints in animal production.Our previ-ous study showed that piglets with IUGR are associated with abnormal bile acid(BA)metabolism.This study explored whether dietary BA supplementation could improve growth performance and colonic development,function,micro-biota,and metabolites in the normal birth weight(NBW)and IUGR piglets.A total of 48 weaned piglets(24 IUGR and 24 NBW)were allocated to four groups(12 piglets per group):(i)NBW group,(ii)NBW+BA group,(iii)IUGR group,and(iv)IUGR+BA group.Samples were collected after 28 days of feeding.Results The results showed that dietary BA supplementation increased the length and weight of the colon and colon weight to body weight ratio,while decreased the plasma diamine oxidase(DAO)concentration in the NBW pig-lets(P<0.05).Dietary BA supplementation to IUGR piglets decreased(P<0.05)the plasma concentrations of D-lactate and endotoxin and colonic DAO and endotoxin,suggesting a beneficial effect on epithelial integrity.Moreover,dietary BA supplementation to NBW and IUGR piglets increased Firmicutes abundance and decreased Bacteroidetes abundance(P<0.05),whereas Lactobacillus was the dominant genus in the colon.Metabolome analysis revealed 65 and 51 differential metabolites in the colon of piglets fed a diet with/without BA,respectively,which was associated with the colonic function of IUGR piglets.Furthermore,dietary BA supplementation to IUGR piglets upregulated the expressions of CAT,GPX,SOD,Nrf1,IL-2,and IFN-γin colonic mucosa(P<0.05).Conclusions Collectively,dietary BA supplementation could improve the colonic function of IUGR piglets,which was associated with increasing proportions of potentially beneficial bacteria and metabolites.Furthermore,BA shows a promising application prospect in improving the intestinal ecosystem and health of animals.展开更多

The resultant carbons were characterized by N2 adsorption and Bohem titration and then used to remove Ponceau 4R, methyl orange and brilliant blue from aqueous solutions. Surface chemistry was found to play a signifi- cantly different role in removing these three compounds. The removal of anionic Ponceau 4R increases with increasing carbon surface ba- sicity due to the predominant dispersive interaction mechanism. In contrast, surface chemistry has little effect on the removal of anionic methyl orange, which can be explained by two parallel mechanisms involving electrostatic and dispersive interactions due to the basic amine group in a dye molecule. The influence of surface chemistry on the removal of amphoteric brilliant blue dye can also be ignored due to a weak interaction between the carbons and dye molecules, which is resulted from strong cohesive energy from electrostatic forces inside amphoteric dye molecules.展开更多

Communication and positioning,the two pillars of mobile communication systems,are currently being integrated together.The development of communication technologies is the driving force of the positioning progress.In t...Communication and positioning,the two pillars of mobile communication systems,are currently being integrated together.The development of communication technologies is the driving force of the positioning progress.In turn,the location information provided by positioning improves the communication performance in various ways.However,the competition of these two functions in terms of resource allocation is a critical issue hindering their integration.In this article,we investigate the trade-off for the integrated communication and data-assisted positioning in multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems.A data-assisted positioning method is designed first,which uses both positioning reference signals(PRSs)and data signals for positioning.The positioning and communication performance are theoretically evaluated respectively,then combined to obtain an integrated performance metric.The trade-off is analyzed and the integrated performance is optimized considering the priority of different functions.Numerical simulations show that the data-assisted positioning can not only improve the positioning accuracy,but also reduce the PRS overhead.And the established integrated performance metric can identify the optimal performance and the corresponding resource allocation schemes.展开更多
Structured illumination microscopy(SIM)is a promising super-resolution technique for imaging subcellular structures and dynamics due to its compatibility with most commonly usedffuorescent labeling methods.Structured ...Structured illumination microscopy(SIM)is a promising super-resolution technique for imaging subcellular structures and dynamics due to its compatibility with most commonly usedffuorescent labeling methods.Structured illumination can be obtained by either laser interference or projection of fringe patterns.Here,we proposed a fringe projector composed of a compact multiwavelength LEDs module and a digital micromirror device(DMD)which can be directly attached to most commercial invertedffuorescent microscopes and update it into a SIM system.The effects of the period and duty cycle of fringe patterns on the modulation depth of the structured lightfield were studied.With the optimized fringe pattern,1:6×resolution improvement could be obtained with high-end oil objectives.Multicolor imaging and dynamics of subcellular organelles in live cells were also demonstrated.Our method provides a low-cost solution for SIM setup to expand its wide range of applications to most research labs in thefield of life science and medicine.展开更多

Microbial fuel cells(MFCs),as a sustainable and promising technology to solve both environmental pollution and energy shortage,have captured tremendous attention.The conversion efficiency of chemical energy contained ...Microbial fuel cells(MFCs),as a sustainable and promising technology to solve both environmental pollution and energy shortage,have captured tremendous attention.The conversion efficiency of chemical energy contained in organic waste or wastewater to electricity via microbial metabolism strongly depends on the performance of each functional unit,including the anode,cathode and separator/membrane used in MFCs.Therefore,significant attention has been paid toward developing advanced functional materials to enhance the performance of each unit or provide new featured functions.This review paper provides a comprehensive review on recent achievements and advances in the modification and development of functional materials for MFC systems,including 1)the development of functional anode materials for enhanced microbial compatibilities as well as electron transfer capabilities,2)the development of cost-effective separators/membranes such as ion exchange membrane,porous membrane,polymer electrolyte membrane and composite membrane,and 3)the development of functional cathode catalysts to decrease the over-potential and enhance the electrocatalytic efficiency for oxygen reduction reaction in order to substitute the common costly Pt catalyst.The challenges and outlooks of functional materials for MFC applications are also discussed.展开更多
BACKGROUND The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients have been widely reported,but the assessment of doseresponse relationships and risk factors for mortality and s...BACKGROUND The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients have been widely reported,but the assessment of doseresponse relationships and risk factors for mortality and severe cases and clinical outcomes remain unclear.AIM To determine the dose-response relationship between risk factors and incidence of COVID-19.METHODS In this retrospective,multicenter cohort study,we included patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection who had been discharged or had died by February 6,2020.We used multivariable logistic regression and Cox proportional hazard models to determine the dose-response relationship between risk factors and incidence of COVID-19.RESULTS It clarified that increasing risk of in-hospital death were associated with older age(HR:1.04,95%CI:1.01-1.09),higher lactate dehydrogenase[HR:1.04,95%confidence interval(CI):1.01-1.10],C-reactive protein(HR:1.10,95%CI:1.01-1.23),and procalcitonin(natural log-transformed HR:1.88,95%CI:1.22-2.88),and D-dimer greater than 1μg/m L at admission(natural log transformed HR:1.63,95%CI:1.03-2.58)by multivariable regression.D-dimer and procalcitonin were logarithmically correlated with COVID-19 mortality risk,while there was a linear dose-response correlation between age,lactate dehydrogenase,D-dimer and procalcitonin,independent of established risk factors.CONCLUSION Higher lactate dehydrogenase,D-dimer,and procalcitonin levels were independently associated with a dose-response increased risk of COVID-19 mortality.展开更多

文摘Real-world passive radiative cooling requires highly emissive,selective,and omnidirectional thermal emitters to maintain the radiative cooler at a certain temperature below the ambient temperature while maximizing the net cooling power.Despite various selective thermal emitters have been demonstrated,it is still challenging to achieve these conditions sim-ultaneously because of the extreme difficulty in controlling thermal emission of photonic structures in multidimension.Here we demonstrated hybrid polar dielectric metasurface thermal emitters with machine learning inverse design,en-abling a high emissivity of~0.92 within the atmospheric transparency window 8-13μm,a large spectral selectivity of~1.8 and a wide emission angle up to 80 degrees,simultaneously.This selective and omnidirectional thermal emitter has led to a new record of temperature reduction as large as~15.4°C under strong solar irradiation of~800 W/m2,signific-antly surpassing the state-of-the-art results.The designed structures also show great potential in tackling the urban heat island effect,with modelling results suggesting a large energy saving and deployment area reduction.This research will make significant impact on passive radiative cooling,thermal energy photonics and tackling global climate change.

文摘As a solid foam stabilizer, spherical silica particles with diameters ranging from 150 to 190 nm were prepared via an improved Stober methOd and were subsequently modified using three different silane coupling agents to attain the optimum surface hydrophobicity of the particles. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra and the measured contact angles were used to characterize the surface properties of the prepared particles. The foam stability was investigated by the foam drainage half-life and the expansion viscoelastic modulus of the liquid film. The results demonstrate that all of the modified silica nanoparticles effectively improve the foam stability. The surface hydrophobicity of the modified particles is found to be a key factor influencing the foam stability. The optimum contact angle of the particles lies in the ap- proximate range from 50° to 55°. The modifier molecular structure used can also influence the stabilizing foam property of the solid particles The foam system stabilized by (CH3)2SiCl2-modified silica particles exhibits the highest stability; its drainage half-life at maximum increases by 27% compared to that of the blank foam system and is substantially greater than those of the foam systems stabilized by KH570- and KH550-modified particles.

文摘Sweet osmanthus(Osmanthus fragrans Lour.)is among the top ten most well-known flowers in China and is recognized as both an aromatic plant and ornamental flower.Here,manual sectioning,scanning electron microscopy,and transmission electron microscopy of sweet osmanthus petals revealed that large amounts of lipids are present inside the petal cells and on the cell surfaces.However,no secretory structures were observed.Instead,the petal cells protrude slightly outward,and the surfaces of the cells are adorned with highly regular brush-shaped hairs.The surfaces of the‘Yingui’petals possessed mostly curled and more numerous hairs,whereas the‘Dangui’petals possessed fewer brush-shaped and more sparsely arranged hairs.In addition,many granular substances were attached to the brush-shaped hairs,and the granules were denser on the hairs of the‘Yingui’petals compared to the hairs on the‘Dangui’petals.Furthermore,35 aromatic components in the‘Yingui’petals and 30 aromatic components in the‘Dangui’petals were detected via GC-MS.The main aromatic component of the‘Yingui’petals wasβ-ionone,whereas that of the‘Dangui’petals was linalool and its oxides.Transcriptome sequencing and qRT-PCR indicated that the highβ-ionone content in the‘Yingui’petals was due to the overexpression of CCD1 and CCD4 and that the high linalool content in the‘Dangui’petals was due to the overexpression of MECS,HDR,IDI1,and LIS1,which function upstream of the linalool synthetic pathway.In particular,the expression levels of CCD4 and LIS1 were upregulated by 5.5-and 5.1-fold in the‘Yingui’and‘Dangui’petals,respectively.One transcription factor(ERF61)was cloned and named,and the expression pattern of ERF61 in sweet osmanthus petals was found to be generally consistent with that of CCD4.Tobacco transformation experiments,yeast one-hybrid experiments,and electrophoretic mobility shift assays indicated that ERF61 binds to the CCD4 promoter and stimulates CCD4 expression,thereby regulating the synthesis ofβ-ionone in sweet osmanthus petals.

文摘Background: The interaction of the gut microbiota with key metabolic and physiological processes may be associated with poor growth outcomes in animals born with intrauterine growth restriction(IUGR).Results: Growth performance, plasma hormone concentrations, and intestinal microbiota composition were analyzed in IUGR pigs and in normal birth weight(NBW) pigs when the NBW pigs reached 25, 50, and 100 kg of body weight(BW). Compared to NBW pigs, IUGR pigs had lower initial, weaned, and final BW, and lower average daily gain and average daily feed intake in all the considered time points. In the 25 kg BW group, IUGR pigs had higher concentrations of plasma ghrelin and pancreatic polypeptide(PP), but lower insulin concentration than NBW pigs, while the situation was reversed in the 50 kg BW group. As compared to NBW pigs, IUGR pigs had higher microbial alpha diversity in the jejunum and ileum;in the 50 and 100 kg BW groups, IUGR pigs had higher Firmicutes abundance but lower Proteobacteria abundance in the jejunum, and lower Lactobacillus abundance in the jejunum and ileum;in the 25 kg BW group, IUGR pigs showed higher unclassified Ruminococcaceae abundance in the ileum;and in 25 and 50 kg BW groups, IUGR pigs showed lower Ochrobactrum abundance in the jejunum.Spearman's correlation revealed that Lactobacillus was negatively correlated with growth performance, while unclassified Ruminococcaceae was positively correlated. Predictive metagenomic analysis detected significantly different expression of genes in the intestinal microbiota between IUGR and NBW pigs, suggesting different metabolic capabilities between the two groups.Conclusions: Growing-finishing IUGR pigs showed lower growth performance, higher microbial alpha diversity, and differences in plasma hormone concentrations compared to NBW pigs. Alterations in the abundance of Firmicutes,Proteobacteria, Ruminococcaceae, Lactobacillus, and Ochrobactrum in the small intestine may be associated with IUGR, and may therefore serve as a future target for gut microbiota intervention in growing-finishing IUGR pigs.

文摘The selective oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF) into 2,5-diformylfuran(DFF) is an important reaction for renewable biomass building blocks. Compared with thermal catalytic processes, photocatalytic production of DFF from HMF has attracted tremendous attention. Herein, the MoS_(2)/CdIn_(2)S_(4)(MC)flower-like heterojunctions were prepared and considered as photocatalysts for selective oxidation of HMF into DFF under visible-light irradiation in aqueous solution. Results demonstrated MoS_(2) in MC heterojunction could promote the separation of photoexcited electron-hole pairs, while the amount of MoS_(2) dropping was proved influenced on the photocatalytic performance. 80.93% of DFF selectivity was realized when using 12.5% MC as photocatalyst. In addition, the MC catalyst also showed great potential in transformation of other biomass derived benzyl-and furyl-alcohols. The catalytic mechanism suggested that ·O_(2)^(-) was the decisive active radical for HMF oxidation. Therefore, the MC heterojunction could be applied in photocatalytic conversion of biomass to valuable chemicals under ambient condition.

文摘In recent years, transition-metal oxides(TMOs) have been long employed for aerobic oxidative desulfurization. However, the inherent bottlenecks, such as the low explosion of active sites, limit the application of bulk TMOs catalyst. In this study, V_(2)O_(5) nanoparticles with oxygen vacancies were prepared in large-scale via facile ball milling strategy with adding oxalic acid as a reducing agent. The as-prepared catalysts exhibit remarkable sulfur removal for oils with different initial S-concentrations and different substrates. Sulfur removal could reach up to 99.7%(< 2 ppm) under the optimized reaction conditions. This work provides a feasible desulfurization strategy for fuel oils.

文摘AIM:To determine the risk factors for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) rupture,and report the management and long-term survival results of patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC.METHODS:Among 4209 patients with HCC who were diagnosed at Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital from April 2002 to November 2006,200(4.8%) patients with ruptured HCC(case group) were studied retrospectively in term of their clinical characteristics and prognostic factors.The one-stage therapeutic approach to manage ruptured HCC consisted of initial management by conservative treatment,transarterial embolization(TACE) or hepatic resection.Results of various treatments in the case group were evaluated and compared with the control group(202 patients) without ruptured HCC during the same study period.Continuous data were expressed as mean ± SD or me-dian(range) where appropriate and compared using the unpaired t test.Categorical variables were compared using the Chi-square test with Yates correction or the Fisher exact test where appropriate.The overall survival rate in each group was determined using the Kaplan-Meier method and a log-rank test.RESULTS:Compared with the control group,more patients in the case group had underlying diseases of hypertension(7.5% vs 3.0%,P =0.041) and liver cirrhosis(87.5% vs 56.4%,P < 0.001),tumor size >5 cm(83.0% vs 57.4%,P < 0.001),tumor protrusion from the liver surface(66.0% vs 44.6%,P < 0.001),vascular thrombus(30.5% vs 8.9%,P < 0.001) and extrahepatic invasion(36.5% vs 12.4%,P < 0.001).On multivariate logistic regression analysis,underlying diseases of hypertension(P = 0.002) and liver cirrhosis(P < 0.001),tumor size > 5 cm(P < 0.001),vascular thrombus(P = 0.002) and extrahepatic invasion(P < 0.001) were predictive for spontaneous rupture of HCC.Among the 200 patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC,105 patients underwent hepatic resection,33 received TACE,and 62 were managed with conservative treatment.The median survival time(MST) of all patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC was 6 mo(range,1-72 mo),and the overall survival at 1,3 and 5 years were 32.5%,10% and 4%,respectively.The MST was 12 mo(range,1-72 mo) in the surgical group,4 mo(range,1-30 mo) in the TACE group and 1 mo(range,1-19 mo) in the conservative group.Ninety-eight patients in the control group underwent hepatic resection,and the MST and median diseasefree survival time were 46 mo(range,6-93 mo) and 23 mo(range,3-39 mo) respectively,which were much longer than that of patients with spontaneous rupture of HCC undergoing hepatic resection(P < 0.001).The 1-,3-,and 5-year overall survival rates and the 1-,3-and 5-year disease-free survival rates in patients with ruptured HCC undergoing hepatectomy were 57.1%,19.0% and 7.6%,27.6%,14.3% and 3.8%,respectively,compared with those of 77.1%,59.8% and 41.2%,57.1%,40.6% and 32.9% in 98 patients with-CONCLUSION:Prolonged survival can be achieved in selected patients undergoing one-stage hepatectomy,although the survival results were inferior to those of the patients without ruptured HCC.

文摘Objective: To investigate the effect of Iptakalim(Ipt) preventing injury of endothelial microvesicles(EMVs) derived from hypoxia/reoxygenation(H/R)-treated HUVECs on the relaxation of rat thoracic aortic rings and explore the underlying mechanism. Methods: H/R injury model was established to release H/R-EMVs from HUVECs. H/R-EMVs from HUVECs were isolated by ultracentrifugation from the conditioned culture medium. H/R-EMVs were characterized by using Transmission Electron Microscope(TEM). Thoracic aortic rings of rats were incubated with 10^(-7)-10^(-3 )mol/L Ipt and co-cultured with 10 μg/ml H/R-EMVs for 4 hours, and their endothelium- dependent relaxation in response to acetylcholine(ACh) was recorded in vitro. The nitric oxide(NO) production of ACh-treated rat thoracic aortic rings was measured by using Griess reagent. The expression of endothelial NO synthase(e NOS), phosphorylated e NOS(p-e NOS, Ser-1177), serine/threonine kinas(Akt) and phosphorylated Akt(p-Akt, Ser-473) in the thoracic aortic rings of rats was detected by Western blotting. Results: H/R-EMVs were induced by H/R-treated HUVECs and isolated by ultracentrifugation. The isolated H/R-EMVs subjected to TEM revealed small, rounded vesicles(100–1 000 nm) surrounded by a membrane. H/R-EMVs impaired relaxation induced by ACh of rat thoracic aortic rings significantly. Compared with H/R-EMVs treatment individually, relaxation and NO production of rat thoracic aortic rings were increased by Ipt treatment in a concentration-dependent manner(P<0.05, P<0.01). The expression of total e NOS(t-e NOS) and total Akt(t-Akt) was not affected by Ipt or H/R-EMVs. However, the expression of p-e NOS and p-Akt increased after treated with Ipt(P<0.01). Conclusion: Based on H/R-EMVs treatment, ACh induced endothelium-dependent relaxation of rat thoracic aortic rings was ameliorated by Ipt in a concentration-dependent manner. The mechanisms involved the increase in NO production, p-e NOS and p-Akt expression.

文摘Background Intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR)is one of the major constraints in animal production.Our previ-ous study showed that piglets with IUGR are associated with abnormal bile acid(BA)metabolism.This study explored whether dietary BA supplementation could improve growth performance and colonic development,function,micro-biota,and metabolites in the normal birth weight(NBW)and IUGR piglets.A total of 48 weaned piglets(24 IUGR and 24 NBW)were allocated to four groups(12 piglets per group):(i)NBW group,(ii)NBW+BA group,(iii)IUGR group,and(iv)IUGR+BA group.Samples were collected after 28 days of feeding.Results The results showed that dietary BA supplementation increased the length and weight of the colon and colon weight to body weight ratio,while decreased the plasma diamine oxidase(DAO)concentration in the NBW pig-lets(P<0.05).Dietary BA supplementation to IUGR piglets decreased(P<0.05)the plasma concentrations of D-lactate and endotoxin and colonic DAO and endotoxin,suggesting a beneficial effect on epithelial integrity.Moreover,dietary BA supplementation to NBW and IUGR piglets increased Firmicutes abundance and decreased Bacteroidetes abundance(P<0.05),whereas Lactobacillus was the dominant genus in the colon.Metabolome analysis revealed 65 and 51 differential metabolites in the colon of piglets fed a diet with/without BA,respectively,which was associated with the colonic function of IUGR piglets.Furthermore,dietary BA supplementation to IUGR piglets upregulated the expressions of CAT,GPX,SOD,Nrf1,IL-2,and IFN-γin colonic mucosa(P<0.05).Conclusions Collectively,dietary BA supplementation could improve the colonic function of IUGR piglets,which was associated with increasing proportions of potentially beneficial bacteria and metabolites.Furthermore,BA shows a promising application prospect in improving the intestinal ecosystem and health of animals.

文摘Commercial activated carbons were modified by a series of chemical or physical treatments using H202, NH3, and heating under N2 flow without notably changing their pore structures. The resultant carbons were characterized by N2 adsorption and Bohem titration and then used to remove Ponceau 4R, methyl orange and brilliant blue from aqueous solutions. Surface chemistry was found to play a signifi- cantly different role in removing these three compounds. The removal of anionic Ponceau 4R increases with increasing carbon surface ba- sicity due to the predominant dispersive interaction mechanism. In contrast, surface chemistry has little effect on the removal of anionic methyl orange, which can be explained by two parallel mechanisms involving electrostatic and dispersive interactions due to the basic amine group in a dye molecule. The influence of surface chemistry on the removal of amphoteric brilliant blue dye can also be ignored due to a weak interaction between the carbons and dye molecules, which is resulted from strong cohesive energy from electrostatic forces inside amphoteric dye molecules.
文摘A straightforward protocol using readily available aromatic amines,N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine or N,N,N',N'-tetramethylbenzidine,as photocatalysts was developed for theefficient hydrodehalogenation of organic halides,such as 4'-bromoacetophenone,polyfluoroarenes,cholorobenzene,and 2,2',4,4'-tetrabromodiphenyl ether(a resistant and persistent organic pollu-tant).The strongly reducing singlet excited states of the amines enabled diffusion-controlled disso-ciative electron transfer to effectively cleave carbon-halogen bonds,followed by radical hydrogena-tion.Diisopropylethylamine served as the terminal electron/proton donor and regenerated theamine sensitizers.
文摘Communication and positioning,the two pillars of mobile communication systems,are currently being integrated together.The development of communication technologies is the driving force of the positioning progress.In turn,the location information provided by positioning improves the communication performance in various ways.However,the competition of these two functions in terms of resource allocation is a critical issue hindering their integration.In this article,we investigate the trade-off for the integrated communication and data-assisted positioning in multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems.A data-assisted positioning method is designed first,which uses both positioning reference signals(PRSs)and data signals for positioning.The positioning and communication performance are theoretically evaluated respectively,then combined to obtain an integrated performance metric.The trade-off is analyzed and the integrated performance is optimized considering the priority of different functions.Numerical simulations show that the data-assisted positioning can not only improve the positioning accuracy,but also reduce the PRS overhead.And the established integrated performance metric can identify the optimal performance and the corresponding resource allocation schemes.

文摘Structured illumination microscopy(SIM)is a promising super-resolution technique for imaging subcellular structures and dynamics due to its compatibility with most commonly usedffuorescent labeling methods.Structured illumination can be obtained by either laser interference or projection of fringe patterns.Here,we proposed a fringe projector composed of a compact multiwavelength LEDs module and a digital micromirror device(DMD)which can be directly attached to most commercial invertedffuorescent microscopes and update it into a SIM system.The effects of the period and duty cycle of fringe patterns on the modulation depth of the structured lightfield were studied.With the optimized fringe pattern,1:6×resolution improvement could be obtained with high-end oil objectives.Multicolor imaging and dynamics of subcellular organelles in live cells were also demonstrated.Our method provides a low-cost solution for SIM setup to expand its wide range of applications to most research labs in thefield of life science and medicine.

文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to improve the drought resistance of rice and cultivate new varieties of drought-tolerant rice to effectively alleviate the reduction in rice yield caused by drought.[Methods]Twenty two indica and japonica rice varieties were tested to compare the yield differences under drought stress in the whole growth period and under drought stress in the flowering period.[Results]Drought stress in the whole growth period and flowering period significantly reduced rice yield,as well as the number of filled grains per plant,the number of filled grains per panicle and grain weight per plant.To evaluate the drought tolerance of rice varieties,relative yield could be used as the index under both drought stresses in the whole growth period and the flowering period.[Conclusions]This study provides a theoretical reference for drought-tolerant rice breeding and screening.

文摘Microbial fuel cells(MFCs),as a sustainable and promising technology to solve both environmental pollution and energy shortage,have captured tremendous attention.The conversion efficiency of chemical energy contained in organic waste or wastewater to electricity via microbial metabolism strongly depends on the performance of each functional unit,including the anode,cathode and separator/membrane used in MFCs.Therefore,significant attention has been paid toward developing advanced functional materials to enhance the performance of each unit or provide new featured functions.This review paper provides a comprehensive review on recent achievements and advances in the modification and development of functional materials for MFC systems,including 1)the development of functional anode materials for enhanced microbial compatibilities as well as electron transfer capabilities,2)the development of cost-effective separators/membranes such as ion exchange membrane,porous membrane,polymer electrolyte membrane and composite membrane,and 3)the development of functional cathode catalysts to decrease the over-potential and enhance the electrocatalytic efficiency for oxygen reduction reaction in order to substitute the common costly Pt catalyst.The challenges and outlooks of functional materials for MFC applications are also discussed.
文摘BACKGROUND The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients have been widely reported,but the assessment of doseresponse relationships and risk factors for mortality and severe cases and clinical outcomes remain unclear.AIM To determine the dose-response relationship between risk factors and incidence of COVID-19.METHODS In this retrospective,multicenter cohort study,we included patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection who had been discharged or had died by February 6,2020.We used multivariable logistic regression and Cox proportional hazard models to determine the dose-response relationship between risk factors and incidence of COVID-19.RESULTS It clarified that increasing risk of in-hospital death were associated with older age(HR:1.04,95%CI:1.01-1.09),higher lactate dehydrogenase[HR:1.04,95%confidence interval(CI):1.01-1.10],C-reactive protein(HR:1.10,95%CI:1.01-1.23),and procalcitonin(natural log-transformed HR:1.88,95%CI:1.22-2.88),and D-dimer greater than 1μg/m L at admission(natural log transformed HR:1.63,95%CI:1.03-2.58)by multivariable regression.D-dimer and procalcitonin were logarithmically correlated with COVID-19 mortality risk,while there was a linear dose-response correlation between age,lactate dehydrogenase,D-dimer and procalcitonin,independent of established risk factors.CONCLUSION Higher lactate dehydrogenase,D-dimer,and procalcitonin levels were independently associated with a dose-response increased risk of COVID-19 mortality.
文摘Diabetes is a condition of persistent hyperglycemia caused by the endocrine disorder of the pancreas.Therefore,all pancreatic diseases have the risk of diabetes.In particular,increasing attention has been paid recently to new-onset diabetes secondary to acute pancreatitis(AP).The complications of secondary diabetes have caused a lot of trouble for patients and have garnered increasing attention.At present,the pathophysiological mechanism of new-onset diabetes caused by AP is not clear.This review summarizes the current understanding of new-onset diabetes secondary to AP.
