Recently,increasing natural infection cases and experimental animal challenge studies demonstrated domestic cats are susceptible to multiple subtypes influenza A virus(IAV)infections.Notably,some subtype IAV strains c...Recently,increasing natural infection cases and experimental animal challenge studies demonstrated domestic cats are susceptible to multiple subtypes influenza A virus(IAV)infections.Notably,some subtype IAV strains could circulate in domestic cats after cross-species transmission and even infected humans,posing a threat to public health.Host factors related to viral polymerase activity could determine host range of IAV and acidic nuclear phosphoprotein 32(ANP32)is the most important one among them.However,role of cat-derived ANP32 on viral polymerase activity and host range of IAV is still unknown.In the present study,a total of 10 feline ANP32(feANP32)splice variants(including 5 feANP32A,3 feANP32B,and 2 feANP32E)were obtained from domestic cats by RT-PCR.Sequence alignment results demonstrated amino acid deletions and/or insertions occurred among feANP32 variants,but all feANP32 proteins were primarily localized to cell nucleus.Minigenome replication systems for several representative IAV strains were established and the support ability of feANP32 on IAV polymerase activity was estimated.The results indicated that most feANP32A and feANP32B splice variants were able to support all the tested IAV strains,though the support activity of a single feANP32 protein on polymerase activity varied among different IAV strains.In addition,the role of feANP32 in supporting H3N2 canine influenza virus was determined by investigating viral replication in vitro.Collectively,our study systematically investigated the support activity of feANP32 on IAV,providing a clue for further exploring the mechanism of susceptibility of cats to IAV.展开更多
Background:The long-term outcomes of patients treated with a Kawashima procedure and keeping the antegrade pulmonary blood flow(AnPBF)in single-ventricle(SV)and interrupted inferior vena cava(IVC)heart disease is stil...Background:The long-term outcomes of patients treated with a Kawashima procedure and keeping the antegrade pulmonary blood flow(AnPBF)in single-ventricle(SV)and interrupted inferior vena cava(IVC)heart disease is still uncertain as yet.Methods:We investigated 18 patients who underwent the Kawashima procedure with SV physiology and an interrupted IVC between January 2009 and June 2018,perioperative,operative and postoperative characteristics were recorded.Results:A total of 18 patients underwent the Kawashima procedure at a median age of 2.7 years(range 0.5–24.7 years),of which 12(66.7%)were male and 6(33.3%)were female.The mean saturation was 76.2±8.5%in preoperative period and 94.2±2.2%in postoperative period.All patients had kept AnPBF.The median duration of mechanical ventilation was 12 h(range 2.5–22.5 h)and the median duration of pleural drainage was 5 days(range 2–27 days).The median hospital stay was 9 days(range 6–70 days).There was no operative death and no mortality was seen in early postoperative period.Follow-up was 100%completed,with an average follow-up period of 6.1±2.7 years(range 1–11 years).4 patients died during the follow-up.The overall 5 and 10 years’survival rates estimated by Kaplan-Meier method were 88%and 68%,respectively.Although there were no significant differences in the duration of postoperative follow-up between the death group and the survival group(p>0.05),the major systemic ventricular end-diastolic diameter(SVEDD)(p=0.018)and the degree of AVVR(p=0.001)showed significant difference between the two groups.The diameters of main pulmonary artery showed significant growth in both the death group(p=0.015)and the survival group(p=0.012)over time.SVEDD had no significant increase in the survival group(p=0.665)but was significantly larger in the death group(p=0.014).Multivariable risk factors of late mortality in patients treated with Kawashima procedure were follow-up AVVR(p=0.044;HR:3.124;95%CI:1.030–9.473)and SVEDD(p=0.031;HR:9.766;95%CI:1.226–77.8).14 patients(100%)were all in New York Heart Association(NYHA)functional class I and the mean saturation was 93±2%at last follow-up.Only one patient finished Fontan completion.Conclusions:The Kawashima procedure with AnPBF can be safely performed with acceptable early and long outcomes.Although some previous studies have shown the risk of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations(PAVMS)after Kawashima procedure in the mid-and long-term,our findings are in contradiction with it.No PAVMs occurred in all the survivors.Kawashima procedure with open AnPBF may be a good option for unsuitable Fontan candidates.展开更多
Background:Double aortic arch(DAA)with distal left-sided aortic arch atresia(LAAA)can form complete vascular ring by ligamentum connection.We aimed to introduce an uncommon DAA-LAAA diagnosis and treatment by the mini...Background:Double aortic arch(DAA)with distal left-sided aortic arch atresia(LAAA)can form complete vascular ring by ligamentum connection.We aimed to introduce an uncommon DAA-LAAA diagnosis and treatment by the minimally invasive surgical technique(MIST).Methods:We retrospectively reviewed 7 cases of DAA-LAAA that were treated from January 2017 to July 2021.All infant patients underwent surgical repair by minimally invasive surgical technique.Mean follow-up was 14.43 months(range,5–21 months).Results:There were seven patients with DAA-LAAA,including six males and one female.Median age was 19.29 months(range,9.0–29.0 months).Median weight was 11.30 kg(range,9.6–13.0 kg).Three patients were found severe tracheal compression by cardiac computed tomography angiography(cCTA).Six patients with isolated DAA-LAAA were performed operations through left subaxillary minithoracotomy,and one patient with ventricular septal defect(VSD)was performed operation concurrently under the cardiopulmonary bypass(CPB)through right subaxillary minithoracotomy.All patients had symptom improvement in the postoperative period and discharged successfully.Follow-up data showed good results in short-term.Conclusions:We introduce a new surgical pathway for DAA-LAAA treatment with good symptomatic relief in short-term.MIST is a safe,feasible and economical approach for infant patients.展开更多

Background:There is scarce research on large cohorts with tetralogy of Fallot(TOF)from China.The database in Fuwai Hospital was reviewed to ascertain current trends in the management of TOF and to determine the preval...Background:There is scarce research on large cohorts with tetralogy of Fallot(TOF)from China.The database in Fuwai Hospital was reviewed to ascertain current trends in the management of TOF and to determine the prevalence of various surgical techniques and the optimal early outcome.Methods:This cross-sectional study included 1861 patients who underwent surgery between 2012 and 2017 and were aged 0-18 years old with a primary diagnosis of TOF.A total of 1760 eligible patients were included in the analyses.Results:A total of 1683 patients underwent repair of TOF as a one-stage operation(primary repair).Sixty-one patients underwent repair of TOF after prior palliation.Of patients who underwent one-stage repair(n=1683):858 were 6 months to 1 year old,421 were 1 to 2 years old,251 were 2-18 years old,and 145 were 3 to 6 months old.Of patients who underwent repair following prior palliation(n=61),58(95.1%)were older than 1 year of age.Of 1744 complete repairs,986(56.0%)had annulus-sparing(AS)repair.Total in-hospital mortality was 15 of 1744(0.9%)for complete repair(including one-stage and staged repairs).The total incidence of the optimal early outcome was 78.2%in terms of a composite of the absence of death in the first year,significant right ventricular outflow tract obstruction,significant pulmonary valve insufficiency,or catheter or surgical reintervention.Conclusions:Surgical correction in patients with TOF can achieve an acceptable outcome in terms of death and reintervention.Primary repair at 6 months to 1 year of age is the most prevalent strategy in our centre.However,the relatively high incidence of early undesirable surgical adequacy of the pulmonary valve(PV)represents a wake-up call.展开更多

Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)are one of the most urgent threats to humans worldwide,which are responsible for almost one-third of global mortality.Over the last decade,research on flexible electronics for monitoring a...Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)are one of the most urgent threats to humans worldwide,which are responsible for almost one-third of global mortality.Over the last decade,research on flexible electronics for monitoring and treatment of CVDs has attracted tremendous attention.In contrast to conventional medical instruments in hospitals that are usually bulky,hard to move,monofunctional,and time-consuming,flexible electronics are capable of continuous,noninvasive,real-time,and portable monitoring.Notable progress has been made in this emerging field,and thus a number of significant achievements and concomitant research prospects deserve attention for practical implementation.Here,we comprehensively review the latest progress of flexible electronics for CVDs,focusing on new functions provided by flexible electronics.First,the characteristics of CVDs and flexible electronics and the foundation of their combination are briefly reviewed.Then,four representative applications of flexible electronics for CVDs are elaborated:blood pressure(BP)monitoring,electrocardiogram(ECG)monitoring,echocardiogram monitoring,and direct epicardium monitoring.Their operational principles,progress,merits and demerits,and future efforts are discussed.Finally,the remaining challenges and opportunities for flexible electronics for cardiovascular healthcare are outlined.展开更多

They look like funnels: round or nearly round, concave of pit-like, with a diameter ranging from several centimeters to 20 or 30 cm, and depth from several millimeters to over 20 cm. There is a vertical pipe (called gas discharging conduit) in the center, with a diameter of several millimeters to 1 cm, depth of several centimeters to more than 10 cm. There may be a lip-like relief (called 'lip-like relief') on the periphery or some parts of the periphery, with ring structures showing horizontal stratification on the inner margin. Plant debris carbonized, plant fragments or dark-colored minerals may sometimes be found in the center of the pits. Such structures are usually developed in silt (with minor clay laminations), often underlain by one or more thin layers of mud matter. Our studies find that they are genetically related with gas discharging of organic matter during biological degradation.展开更多
Bovine hepacivirus(BovHepV)is a novel virus that was recently discovered in Ghana and Germany in 2015.Until now,this virus has been identified in cattle population worldwide and is classified into subtypes A-G.To full...Bovine hepacivirus(BovHepV)is a novel virus that was recently discovered in Ghana and Germany in 2015.Until now,this virus has been identified in cattle population worldwide and is classified into subtypes A-G.To fully understand the epidemic situation and genetic characteristic of BovHepV in China,a total of 612 cattle serum samples were collected from 20 farms in seven provinces and municipality in China between 2018 and 2020 and were tested for the presence of BovHepV RNA via semi-nested PCR.The results demonstrated that 49(8.0%)samples were BovHepV RNA-positive.It is noted that BovHepV infection in yak was confirmed for the first time.BovHepV was detected in all the seven provinces,with the positive rate ranging from 3.1%to 13.3%,which indicates a wide geographical distribution pattern of BovHepV in China.Sequencing results revealed that 5'UTR of the 49 field BovHepV strains have a nucleotide similarity of 96.3%-100%between each other and 93.9%-100%with previously reported BovHepV strains.In addition,genetic analysis identified five critical nucleotide sites in 5'UTR to distinguish different subtypes,which was further verified by genomic sequencing and nucleotide similarity analysis.All the 49 Chinese field BovHepV strains were classified into subtype G and this subtype is only determined in cattle in China currently.This study will provide insights for us to better understand the epidemiology and genetic diversity of BovHepV.展开更多

文摘Cardiovascular diseases(CVDs)are one of the most urgent threats to humans worldwide,which are responsible for almost one-third of global mortality.Over the last decade,research on flexible electronics for monitoring and treatment of CVDs has attracted tremendous attention.In contrast to conventional medical instruments in hospitals that are usually bulky,hard to move,monofunctional,and time-consuming,flexible electronics are capable of continuous,noninvasive,real-time,and portable monitoring.Notable progress has been made in this emerging field,and thus a number of significant achievements and concomitant research prospects deserve attention for practical implementation.Here,we comprehensively review the latest progress of flexible electronics for CVDs,focusing on new functions provided by flexible electronics.First,the characteristics of CVDs and flexible electronics and the foundation of their combination are briefly reviewed.Then,four representative applications of flexible electronics for CVDs are elaborated:blood pressure(BP)monitoring,electrocardiogram(ECG)monitoring,echocardiogram monitoring,and direct epicardium monitoring.Their operational principles,progress,merits and demerits,and future efforts are discussed.Finally,the remaining challenges and opportunities for flexible electronics for cardiovascular healthcare are outlined.

文摘A kind of special sedimentary structures are developed in the overwater plains of the Yellow River delta. They look like funnels: round or nearly round, concave of pit-like, with a diameter ranging from several centimeters to 20 or 30 cm, and depth from several millimeters to over 20 cm. There is a vertical pipe (called gas discharging conduit) in the center, with a diameter of several millimeters to 1 cm, depth of several centimeters to more than 10 cm. There may be a lip-like relief (called 'lip-like relief') on the periphery or some parts of the periphery, with ring structures showing horizontal stratification on the inner margin. Plant debris carbonized, plant fragments or dark-colored minerals may sometimes be found in the center of the pits. Such structures are usually developed in silt (with minor clay laminations), often underlain by one or more thin layers of mud matter. Our studies find that they are genetically related with gas discharging of organic matter during biological degradation.

文摘Bovine hepacivirus(BovHepV)is a novel virus that was recently discovered in Ghana and Germany in 2015.Until now,this virus has been identified in cattle population worldwide and is classified into subtypes A-G.To fully understand the epidemic situation and genetic characteristic of BovHepV in China,a total of 612 cattle serum samples were collected from 20 farms in seven provinces and municipality in China between 2018 and 2020 and were tested for the presence of BovHepV RNA via semi-nested PCR.The results demonstrated that 49(8.0%)samples were BovHepV RNA-positive.It is noted that BovHepV infection in yak was confirmed for the first time.BovHepV was detected in all the seven provinces,with the positive rate ranging from 3.1%to 13.3%,which indicates a wide geographical distribution pattern of BovHepV in China.Sequencing results revealed that 5'UTR of the 49 field BovHepV strains have a nucleotide similarity of 96.3%-100%between each other and 93.9%-100%with previously reported BovHepV strains.In addition,genetic analysis identified five critical nucleotide sites in 5'UTR to distinguish different subtypes,which was further verified by genomic sequencing and nucleotide similarity analysis.All the 49 Chinese field BovHepV strains were classified into subtype G and this subtype is only determined in cattle in China currently.This study will provide insights for us to better understand the epidemiology and genetic diversity of BovHepV.
