BACKGROUND Phosphoglycerate kinase 1(PGK1)has been identified as a possible biomarker for breast cancer(BC)and may play a role in the development and advancement of triple-negative BC(TNBC).AIM To explore the PGK1 and...BACKGROUND Phosphoglycerate kinase 1(PGK1)has been identified as a possible biomarker for breast cancer(BC)and may play a role in the development and advancement of triple-negative BC(TNBC).AIM To explore the PGK1 and BC research status and PGK1 expression and mecha-nism differences among TNBC,non-TNBC,and normal breast tissue.METHODS PGK1 and BC related literature was downloaded from Web of Science Core Co-llection Core Collection.Publication counts,key-word frequency,cooperation networks,and theme trends were analyzed.Normal breast,TNBC,and non-TNBC mRNA data were gathered,and differentially expressed genes obtained.Area under the summary receiver operating characteristic curves,sensitivity and specificity of PGK1 expression were determined.Kaplan Meier revealed PGK1’s prognostic implication.PGK1 co-expressed genes were explored,and Gene Onto-logy,Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes,and Disease Ontology applied.Protein-protein interaction networks were constructed.Hub genes identified.RESULTS PGK1 and BC related publications have surged since 2020,with China leading the way.The most frequent keyword was“Expression”.Collaborative networks were found among co-citations,countries,institutions,and authors.PGK1 expression and BC progression were research hotspots,and PGK1 expression and BC survival were research frontiers.In 16 TNBC vs non-cancerous breast and 15 TNBC vs non-TNBC datasets,PGK1 mRNA levels were higher in 1159 TNBC than 1205 non-cancerous breast cases[standardized mean differences(SMD):0.85,95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.54-1.16,I²=86%,P<0.001].PGK1 expression was higher in 1520 TNBC than 7072 non-TNBC cases(SMD:0.25,95%CI:0.03-0.47,I²=91%,P=0.02).Recurrence free survival was lower in PGK1-high-expression than PGK1-low-expression group(hazard ratio:1.282,P=0.023).PGK1 co-expressed genes were concentrated in ATP metabolic process,HIF-1 signaling,and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis pathways.CONCLUSION PGK1 expression is a research hotspot and frontier direction in the BC field.PGK1 may play a strong role in promoting cancer in TNBC by mediating metabolism and HIF-1 signaling pathways.展开更多

Despite their apparent effectiveness, recent studies have suggested that ESAs could result in ser...Background: Erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs) are widely used in the management of anemia in cancer patients. Despite their apparent effectiveness, recent studies have suggested that ESAs could result in serious adverse events and even higher mortality. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the benefits and risks of ESAs in the management of cancer patients with anemia using a recta-analysis. Methods: The initial literature search covered Medline, PubMed, Embase, and the Cochrane Center Register of Controlled Trials, and identified 1,569 articles. The final meta-analysis included eight randomized controlled trials (n=2,387) in cancer patients with 〈11 g/dL hemoglobin (Hb) at the baseline and target Hb (for stopping ESA treatment) at no more than 13 g/dL. The assessment measures included Hb response, blood transfusion rate and adverse events that included venous thromboemblism (VTE), hypertension, and on-study mortality. The results are expressed as pooled odds ratio (OR). Publication bias was assessed using funnel plot analysis. Results: ESAs significantly increased the Hb concentration [OR 7.85, 95% confidence interval (CI): 5.85 to 10.53, P〈O.O01] and reduced the red blood cell (RBC) transfusion rate (OR 0.52, 95% CI: 0.42 to 0.65, P〈0.001). ESAs did not increase the accumulated adverse events (OR 0.95, P=0.82), or the on-study mortality (OR 1.09, P=0.47). Conclusions: ESAs are not associated with increased frequency of severe adverse events in anemic cancer patients when the target Hb value is no more than 13 g/dL.展开更多

We report the 3-year outcome on CD4+ lymphocyte count o...National Free Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) HIV/AIDS Treatment Program had been carried out for more than 5 years, treating 9267 cases accumulately by 2009. We report the 3-year outcome on CD4+ lymphocyte count of 807 cases of HIV/AIDS enrolled in the National Free TCM HIV/AIDS Treatment Pro- gram, the CD4+ lymphocyte count were measured every 6 month at 7 time points (0, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36 month). The results showed that the overall CD4+ ly mphocyte count maintained stable at the 6th month and the 12th month, declined significantly at the 18th month, 24th month and 30th month, then elevated to the pre-treatment level at the 36th month. Patients with pre-treatment CD4+ lymphocyte count level 350/mm3 had CD4+ lymphocyte count declined significantly after all visits. In summary, combined treatment of Chinese herbal medicine and conventional therapy on HIV/AIDS suggested promising effect, but more evidences from larger, rigorous designed studies still needed to support the affirmative effect of TCM in the future.展开更多

Objective:To assess the effects of moxibustion on immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome(IRIS)in patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)by tracking T-cell subsets over a 48-week prospective cohort...Objective:To assess the effects of moxibustion on immune reconstitution inflammatory syndrome(IRIS)in patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome(AIDS)by tracking T-cell subsets over a 48-week prospective cohort study.Methods:Patients with AIDS who had low viral loads and weakened immune systems were divided into a moxibustion group and a non-moxibustion group.The non-moxibustion group received standard western treatment,including 48 weeks of antiretroviral therapy(ART).The moxibustion group received ART combined with moxibusion therapy,administered three times weekly.Each treatment lasted 10 weeks,with four courses completed over 48 weeks,separated by 2-week breaks.At different time points,plasma levels of CD4^(+),CD8^(+),CD45RAt,CD45RO^(+),CD4^(+)CD28^(+),CD8^(+)CD38^(+),and CD4^(+)CD38^(+)were compared between the two groups.Results:A total of 200 eligible patients were included and divided into two groups,with 100 in the non-moxibustion group and 100 in the moxibustion group.At Week 24,the CD4^(+)T cell count was(180.71±79.62)cells/μL in the non-moxibustion group and(218.22±82.02)cells/μL in the moxibustion group.By Week 36,the counts were(204.83±96.78)cells/μuL and(239.35±81.90)cells/μL,respectively.At Weeks 24 and 48,the CD8^(+)T cell and CD45RO^(+)counts were higher in the moxibustion group than in the non-moxibustion group(P<0.05).By Week 48,the CD45RA^(+)count was also higher in the moxibustion group(P<0.05).At Week 24,the CD4^(+)CD25^(+)count was lower in the moxibustion group than in the non-moxibustion group(P<0.05).展开更多

The microstructure of as-prepared samples was characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and ultraviolet-visible diffusion reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic performance of Bi2O3 powder was evaluated using rhodamine B as a model pollutant under visible light irradiation. The visible light photocatalytic activity of Bi2O3 with different morphologies is as follows, nanorod 〉 nanorod/nanoflake 〉 N doped TiO2 〉 irregular particle 〉 agglomerated particle. The γ-Bi2O3 shows the best photocatalytic performance and it can effectively degrade 97% RhB within 60 min.展开更多
Repair and reconstruction of large bone defect were often difficult,and bone substitute materials,including autogenous bone,allogenic bone and artificial bone,were common treatment strategies.The key to elucidate the ...Repair and reconstruction of large bone defect were often difficult,and bone substitute materials,including autogenous bone,allogenic bone and artificial bone,were common treatment strategies.The key to elucidate the clinical effect of these bone repair materials was to study their osteogenic capacity and immunotoxicological compatibility.In this paper,the mechanical properties,micro-CT imaging analysis,digital image analysis and histological slice analysis of the three bone grafts were investigated and compared after different time points of implantation in rat femur defect model.Autogenous bone and biphasic calcium phosphate particular artificial bone containing 61.4% HA and 38.6%β-tricalcium phosphate with 61.64%porosity and 0.8617±0.0068 g/cm^(3) den-sity(d≤2 mm)had similar and strong bone repair ability,but autogenous bone implant materials caused greater secondary damage to experimental animals;allogenic bone exhibited poor bone defect repair ability.At the early stage of implantation,the immunological indexes such as Immunoglobulin G,Immunoglobulin M concentration and CD4 cells'population of allogenic bone significantly increased in compared with those of autologous bone and artificial bone.Although the repair process of artificial bone was relatively inefficient than autologous bone graft,the low immunotoxicological indexes and acceptable therapeutic effects endowed it as an excellent alter-native material to solve the problems with insufficient source and secondary trauma of autogenous bone.展开更多
OBJECTIVE: To provide survival estimates of people living with human immunodeficiency virus(PLHIV) after treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) in rural China, to identify the prognostic factors at enrollmen...OBJECTIVE: To provide survival estimates of people living with human immunodeficiency virus(PLHIV) after treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) in rural China, to identify the prognostic factors at enrollment, and to explore the effectiveness of TCM intreating PLHIV.METHODS: PLHIV who enrolled in national TCM HIV treatment trial program in October 2004 were analyzed in this study and followed up to October 2010. Survival time was estimated by the Kaplan-Meier curve and hazard ratios, and identifying prognostic factors were computed through Cox proportional hazard models.RESULTS:A total of 1666 PLHIV were included with 102 591 person-months of follow-up. Overall, 312(18.7%) patients died. The total mortality rate over the study period was 3.6 per 100 person-years,which was lower than the worldwide rate. The cumulative survival rate was 95.9% at 1 year[95% confidence interval(CI)(94.8-96.8)] and 80.4% at 6years [95% CI(78.4-82.3)]. Elevated death risks emerged among males, older individuals, and thosewithlowerCD4+T-cellcounts.CONCLUSION: TCM could increase survival and lengthen the life span of PLHIV in Henan province of China, as shown by our retrospective cohort study. Factors such as sex, age, education, and CD4+ T-cell counts correlated to survival. However,retrospective cohorts bias the data, so more prospective studies should be performed to confirm our primary results.展开更多

The development of catalytic aerobic epoxidation by numerous metal complexes in the presence of aldehyde as a sacrificial reductant(Mukaiyama epoxidation)has been reported,however,comprehensive examination of oxygen a...The development of catalytic aerobic epoxidation by numerous metal complexes in the presence of aldehyde as a sacrificial reductant(Mukaiyama epoxidation)has been reported,however,comprehensive examination of oxygen atom transfer mechanism involving free radical and highly reactive intermediates has yet to be presented.Herein,meso-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrinatooxidovanadium(Ⅳ)(VOTPFPP)was prepared and proved to be efficient toward aerobic olefin epoxidation in the presence of isobutyraldehyde.In situ electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy(in situ EPR)showed the generation,transfer pathways and ascription of free radicals in the epoxidation.According to the spectral and computational studies,the side-on vanadium-peroxo complexes are considered as the active intermediate species in the reaction process.In the cyclohexene epoxidation catalyzed by VOTPFPP,the kinetic isotope effect value of 1.0 was obtained,indicating that epoxidation occurred via oxygen atom transfer mechanism.The mechanism was further elucidated using isotopically labeled dioxygen experiments and density functional theory(DFT)calculations.展开更多

文摘The development of catalytic aerobic epoxidation by numerous metal complexes in the presence of aldehyde as a sacrificial reductant(Mukaiyama epoxidation)has been reported,however,comprehensive examination of oxygen atom transfer mechanism involving free radical and highly reactive intermediates has yet to be presented.Herein,meso-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrinatooxidovanadium(Ⅳ)(VOTPFPP)was prepared and proved to be efficient toward aerobic olefin epoxidation in the presence of isobutyraldehyde.In situ electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy(in situ EPR)showed the generation,transfer pathways and ascription of free radicals in the epoxidation.According to the spectral and computational studies,the side-on vanadium-peroxo complexes are considered as the active intermediate species in the reaction process.In the cyclohexene epoxidation catalyzed by VOTPFPP,the kinetic isotope effect value of 1.0 was obtained,indicating that epoxidation occurred via oxygen atom transfer mechanism.The mechanism was further elucidated using isotopically labeled dioxygen experiments and density functional theory(DFT)calculations.
