Methods: We obtained 1500 resected lymph nodes from the specimen of 86 patients with resected esophageal carcinoma and checked these lymph nodes by routine histopathology. Additiionally, frozen tissue sections of 540 lymph nodes classified as tumor-free by routine histopathology were screened for micrometastases by immunohistology with the monoclonal antibody Ber-EP4. Results: Forty-two patients (49%) had pN0 disease, and 61 patients (71%) had lymph node micrometastases detected by immunohistochemistry, skip metastases detected by routine histopathology were present in 26%(11/42) of pN0 and 41%(18/44) of pN1 patients. Skipping of micrometastases detected by immunohistochemistry was found in 71%(61/86). Twenty-six of 42 patients (62%) with tumor staged as pN0 and 35 of 44 patients (80%) with stage pN1 had nodal micrometastasis. The presence of micrometastases was associated with a significantly decreased relapse-free time and overall survival (P<0.0001 and P=0.004, respectively). Conclusion: Lymph node skip metastases are a frequent event in esophageal carcinoma. Extensive lymph node sampling, in conjunction with immunohistochemical detection, will lead to accurate staging and prognosis.展开更多

The result shows that a total of 5 nucleotide positions are found to have gaps or insertions of base pairs among these individuals, and 13 positions are examined to be variable in all the sequences, which range from 494 to 509 base pairs. All of the individuals are grouped into 7 haplotypes (h1-h7). No marked genetic difference is observed among those populations. All of the individuals from Nagasaki belong to hl and the h3 haplotype is found only in the coastal waters of China. A(?)G transition in Nucleotide 255 is suggested to be taken as a kind of genetic marker to identify the populations distributed in East-South China Sea and the Nagasaki waters of Japan.展开更多

Although qualitative SDG expresses the causing effects between variables easily and clearly, it has many disadvantages or limitations. Probabilistic SDG proposed in the article describes deliver relationships among faults and variables by conditional probabilities, which contains more information and performs more applicability. The article introduces the concepts and con- struction approaches of probabilistic SDG, and presents the inference approaches aiming at fault diagnosis in this framework, i.e. Bayesian inference with graph elimination or junction tree algorithms to compute fault probabilities. This paper studies a configuratio...In implementing mass customization, how to respond rapidly to customers’ requirements is a key problem. Configuration design is considered effective in early stage of product design. This paper studies a configuration method based on constraints and fuzzy decision for product family. The configuration method is evolved from constraint based product configuration. It employs fuzzy optimum selection in the reasoning process, which can select similar components when customers’ requirements can not be met precisely. In the configurator, product family is represented with GBOM(Generic Bill Of Material) and ACL(Article Characteristic List). Every node of GBOM has an ACL to list all instances of a component family. Constraints are attached to every node, which involves variable definition and constraints definition. In the reasoning process, constraint satisfaction and fuzzy optimum selection interact to search optimum solution. A prototype is developted to demonstrate how to run the configurator. The paper ends with a discussion of advantages, future work of the configuration method.展开更多

Its constitutive relations are analyzed from the point of view of energy and internal force equivalence. The macrophages abnormally proliferated in bone marrow were isolated. Electrophoresis analysis was made after DNA extraction, enzyme restriction of human ardrogen receptor (HUMARA) genetic locus, and PCR amplification. In the 9 specimens, clonal proliferation was found in 2 cases and nonclonal proliferation in 7. Among the 7 cases of nonclonal proliferation, 3 were voluntarily discharged without clinical outcome, 2 cases fully recovered after 2-3 week treatment of large dose gamma globulin intravenous drip and hormone therapy, 1 case died at the 43th day after the hormone and anti-infection therapy, and one case was found to have granular leukoblast in peripheral blood after 3 weeks and diagnosed as having M2a after bone puncture. For the two patients with clonal proliferation, one obtained remission after chemotherapy and the other was died after 32 days without chemotherapy. It was concluded that there do exist clonal or malignant proliferation in HPS, so not every case is reactive.展开更多

For making the modified FALCON learning more efficient and stable, a simulated annealing (SA) learning coefficient is introduced into learning algorithm. At first, the basic concepts and main advantages of FALCON were briefly reviewed. Subsequently, the topological structure and nodes operation were illustrated; the gradient-descent learning algorithm with SA learning coefficient was derived; and the distinctions between the archetype and the modification were analyzed. Eventually, the significance and worthiness of the modified FALCON were validated by its application to probability prediction of anode effect in aluminium electrolysis cells.展开更多
