This study aimed to investigate the effects of ammonia addition on ethylene counter-flow diffusion flames with different diluents on the fuel or oxidizer side,using kinetic analyses.A special emphasis was put on assessing the coupled chemical effects of NH_(3) and CO_(2) on C2H4 combustion chemistry.The chemical effects could be evaluated by comparing fictitious inert NH_(3) or CO_(2) with normal active NH_(3) or CO_(2).The results revealed that the addition of NH_(3) decreased the mole fractions and production rates of key soot precursors,such as acetylene,propynyl,and benzene.When CO_(2) was used as the dilution gas,the coupled chemical effects of NH_(3) and CO_(2) were affected by the chemical effects of CO_(2) to varying degrees.With the oxidizer-side CO_(2) addition,the coupled chemical effects of NH_(3) and CO_(2) reduced the mole fractions of H,O,OH radicals,acetylene,propynyl,and benzene,while the effects differed from the fuel-side CO_(2) addition.The coupled chemical effects of NH_(3) and CO_(2) also promoted the formation of aldehyde contaminants,such as acetaldehyde,to some extent,particularly with CO_(2) addition on the oxidizer side. 展开更多

Longitudinal changes in body weight of breastfeeding mothers in the first year after delivery and its relationship with human milk composition:a combined longitudinal and cross-sectional cohort study

Objective:Postpartum weight retention(PPWR)is a common problem among women after childbirth.The main objectives of this study are to understand the changes in body weight of breastfeeding mothers during long-term follow-up and preliminarily explore the relationship between maternal body weight and human milk composition,including macronutrients,leptin,and adiponectin.Methods:The study included a longitudinal cohort(122 mothers),and a cross-sectional cohort(37 mothers).The human milk,maternal weight,and dietary surveys were collected in the longitudinal cohort at different follow-up time points(1-14 days postpartum,2-4 months postpartum,5-7 months postpartum,and 12-17 months postpartum).The maternal body weight was analyzed using the responses in the survey questionnaires.A milk analyzer based on the mid-infrared spectroscopy(MIRS)was used to determine milk composition,and nutrition analysis software evaluated dietary intakes.In the cross-sectional cohort,participating mothers were asked to provide blood and human milk samples and pertinent information related to maternal body composition.Maternal body composition was measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis(BIA),while ELISA analyzed leptin and adiponectin in milk and serum.Results:At 5-7 months postpartum,the PPWR of breastfeeding mothers was(2.46±3.59)kg.At 12-17 months postpartum,the PPWR was(0.98±4.06)kg.PPWR was found to be negatively correlated with milk fat content within 14 days postpartum and positively correlated at 2-4 months postpartum.In addition,the maternal weight and body muscle mass were positively correlated with leptin and adiponectin in milk.Plasma leptin was positively correlated with the mother’s body weight,body mass index(BMI),FAT percentage,and body fat mass,while plasma adiponectin did not correlate with any parameter.The results also indicate that the PPWR did not correlate with leptin and adiponectin in plasma or milk.Conclusions:Breastfeeding mothers may retain considerable weight gain one year after delivery.Human milk composition may be related to changes in maternal body weight.Leptin and adiponectin in breast milk and leptin in plasma are associated with the maternal body composition.This study supports the notion that maternal nutritional status may affect offspring health through lactation,and future research should focus on exploring weight management of postpartum mothers. 展开更多

Etomidate protects retinal ganglion cells from hydrogen peroxide-induced injury via Nrf2/HO-1 pathway

AIM:To determine whether etomidate(ET)has a protective effect on retinal ganglion cells(RGCs)injured with hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))and to explore the potential mechanism underlying the antioxidative stress effect of ET.METHODS:Cultured RGCs were identified by double immunofluorescent labeling of microtubule-associated protein 2 and Thy1.1.An injury model of H_(2)O_(2)-induced RGCs oxidative stress was established in vitro.Cells were pretreated with different concentrations of ET(1,5,and 10μmol/L)for 4h,followed by further exposure to H_(2)O_(2)at 1000μmol/L.Cell counting kit 8 and Annexin V/propidium iodide assays were applied to detect the viabilities and apoptosis rates of the RGCs at 12,24,and 48h after H_(2)O_(2)stimulation.The levels of nitric oxide,malondialdehyde,and glutathione in culture media were measured at these time points.Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR)and Western blot were performed to observe the effects of ET on the messenger RNA and protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS),nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2),heme oxygenase 1(HO-1),glutathione peroxidase 1 and the level of conjugated acrolein in RGCs at 12,24,and 48h after H_(2)O_(2)stimulation and in the retina at 12h after optic nerve transection(ONT).RESULTS:The applications of 5 and 10μmol/L of ET significantly increased the viability of RGCs.Results from qRT-PCR indicated a decrease in the expression of iNOS and an increase in the expressions of Nrf2 and HO-1 in ETpretreated RGCs at 12,24 and 48h after H_(2)O_(2)stimulation,as well as in ET-treated retinas at 12h after ONT.Western blot analysis revealed a decrease in the expression of iNOS and levels of conjugated acrolein,along with an increase in the expressions of Nrf2 and HO-1 in ET-pretreated RGCs in vitro and ET-treated retinas in vivo.CONCLUSION:ET is a neuroprotective agent in primary cultured RGCs injured by H_(2)O_(2).The effect of ET is dosedependent with the greatest effect being at 10μmol/L.ET plays an antioxidant role by inhibiting iNOS,up-regulating Nrf2/HO-1,decreasing the production of acrolein,and increasing the scavenge of acrolein. 展开更多

Lithography is a pivotal micro/nanomanufacturing technique,facilitating performance enhancements in an extensive array of devices,encompassing sensors,transistors,and photovoltaic devices.The key to creating highly precise,multiscale-distributed patterned structures is the precise control of the lithography process.Herein,high-quality patterned ZnO nanostructures are constructed by systematically tuning the exposure and development times during lithography.By optimizing these parameters,ZnO nanorod arrays with line/hole arrangements are successfully prepared.Patterned ZnO nanostructures with highly controllable morphology and structure possess discrete three-dimensional space structure,enlarged surface area,and improved light capture ability,which achieve highly efficient energy conversion in perovskite solar cells.The lithography process management for these patterned ZnO nanostructures provides important guidance for the design and construction of complex nanostructures and devices with excellent performance. 展开更多

Although the research history of triboelectrification has been more than 2000 years, there are still many problems to be solved so far.The use of scanning probe microscopy provides an important way to quantitatively study the transfer, accumulation, and dissipation of triboelectric charges in the process of triboelectrification. Two-dimensional materials are considered to be key materials for new electronic devices in the post-Moore era due to their atomic-scale size advantages. If the electrostatic field generated by triboelectrification can be used to replace the traditional gate electrostatic field, it is expected to simplify the structure of two-dimensional electronic devices and reconfigure them at any time according to actual needs. Here, we investigate the triboelectrification process of various two-dimensional materials such as MoS_(2), WSe_(2),and ZnO. Different from traditional bulk materials, after two-dimensional materials are rubbed, the triboelectric charges generated may tunnel through the two-dimensional materials to the underlying substrate surface. Because the tunneling triboelectric charge is protected by the twodimensional material, its stable residence time on the substrate surface can reach more than 7 days, which is more than tens of minutes for the traditional triboelectric charge. In addition, the electrostatic field generated by the tunneling triboelectric charge can effectively regulate the carrier transport performance of two-dimensional materials, and the source–drain current of the field effect device regulated by the triboelectric floating gate is increased by nearly 60 times. The triboelectric charge tunneling phenomenon in two-dimensional materials is expected to be applied in the fields of new two-dimensional electronic devices and reconfigurable functional circuits. 展开更多

Our previous studies revealed that etomidate, a non-barbiturate intravenous anesthetic agent, has protective effects on retinal ganglion cells within 7 days after optic nerve transection. Whether this process is related to anti-oxidative stress is not clear. To reveal its mechanism, we established the optic nerve transection injury model by transecting 1 mm behind the left eyeball of adult male Sprague-Dawley rats. The rats received an intraperitoneal injection of etomidate(4 mg/kg) once per day for 7 days. The results showed that etomidate significantly enhanced the number of retinal ganglion cells retrogradely labeled with Fluorogold at 7 days after optic nerve transection. Etomidate also significantly reduced the levels of nitric oxide and malonaldehyde in the retina and increased the level of glutathione at 12 hours after optic nerve transection. Thus, etomidate can protect retinal ganglion cells after optic nerve transection in adult rats by activating an anti-oxidative stress response. Jujube(Ziziphus jujuba Mill.),or Chinese date,is the most important species of Rhamnaceae,a large cosmopolitan family,and is one of the oldest cultivated fruit trees in the world.It originates from the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River,the‘mother river’of the Chinese people.It is distributed in at least 48 countries on all continents except Antarctica and is becoming increasingly important,especially in arid and semiarid marginal lands.Based on a systematic analysis of the unique characteristics of jujube,we suggest that it deserves to be recognized as a superfruit.We summarized historical research achievements from the past 3000 years and reviewed recent research advances since 1949 in seven fields,including genome sequencing and application,germplasm resources and systematic taxonomy,breeding and genetics,cultivation theory and techniques,pest control,postharvest physiology and techniques,and nutrition and processing.Based on the challenges facing the jujube industry,we discuss eight research aspects to be focused on in the future. 展开更多

To achieve the utilization of the abandoned ultrafine ilmenite(-20 μm) produced in the titanium magnetite processing plant in Panzhihua,the superconducting high-gradient magnetic separation(SMS) technology was proposed in this study.After optimizing the conditions of magnetic intensity,feeding and pulsation,an SMS concentrate with TiO_(2) grade of 16.03% and TiO_(2) recovery of 66.39% was obtained through one roughing-one cleaning pre-concentration flowsheet.The specific magnetic force and magnetic force were calculated and analysed to illustrate the pre-concentration mechanism,and the results revealed that the combination of high magnetic field and strong pulsating resulted in the effective preconcentration of the ultrafine ilmenite in the SMS process.In addition,the magnetic force analysis indicated that the high magnetic intensity and high magnetic gradient are the key factors of the SMS technology.Furthermore,the EDS-Mapping detection certified that the ultrafine ilmenite was concentrated from the gangue minerals using SMS technology. 展开更多

Hierarchical TiO2 hollow nanoboxes(TiO2‐HNBs)assembled from TiO2 nanosheets(TiO2‐NSs)show improved photoreactivity when compared with the building blocks of discrete TiO2‐NSs.However,TiO2‐HNBs can only be excited by ultraviolet light.In this paper,visible‐light‐responsive N and S co‐doped TiO2‐HNBs were prepared by calcining the mixture of cubic TiOF2 and methionine(C5H11NO2S),a N‐and S‐containing biomacromolecule.The effect of calcination temperature on the structure and performance of the TiO2‐HNBs was systematically studied.It was found that methionine can prevent TiOF2‐to‐anatase TiO2 phase transformation.Both N and S elements are doped into the lattice of TiO2‐HNBs when the mixture of TiOF2 and methionine undergoes calcination at 400°C,which is responsible for the visible‐light response.When compared with that of pure 400°C‐calcined TiO2‐HNBs(T400),the photoreactivity of 400°C‐calcined methionine‐modified TiO2‐HNBs(TM400)improves 1.53 times in photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine‐B dye under visible irradiation(?>420 nm).The enhanced visible photoreactivity of methionine‐modified TiO2‐HNBs is also confirmed by photocatalytic oxidation of NO.The successful doping of N and S elements into the lattice of TiO2‐HNBs,resulting in the improved light‐harvesting ability and efficient separation of photo‐generated electron‐hole pairs,is responsible for the enhanced visible photocatalytic activity of methionine‐modified TiO2‐HNBs.The photoreactivity of methionine modified TiO2‐HNBs remains nearly unchanged even after being recycled five times,indicating its promising use in practical applications. 展开更多

Objective:L1 cell adhesion molecule(L1 CAM)exhibits oncogenic activity in tumors.However,the link between L1 CAM and the tumor microenvironment remains poorly understood in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).In this study,we investigated how L1 CAM expression in ESCC affects the oncogenic characteristics of tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment.Methods:Human ESCC samples were collected,and the m RNA and protein levels of L1 CAM were examined by real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry.Overexpression and knockdown gene expression assays were used for mechanistic studies.The cell proliferation and cell cycle were measured with CCK-8 assays and flow cytometry.Cell migration and invasion ability were measured with Transwell assays.Multiplex bead-based assays were performed to identity the factors downstream of L1 CAM.Xenograft studies were performed in nude mice to evaluate the effects of L1 CAM on tumor growth and regulatory T cell(Treg)recruitment.Results:L1 CAM expression was significantly elevated in ESCC tissues(P<0.001)and correlated with poorer prognosis(P<0.05).Ablation of L1 CAM in ESCC cells inhibited tumor growth and migration,and increased tumor cell apoptosis(P<0.05).In the tumor microenvironment,L1 CAM expression correlated with Treg infiltration in ESCC by affecting CCL22 secretion.Mechanistically,L1 CAM facilitated CCL22 expression by activating the PI3 K/Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway.Furthermore,CCL22 promoted Treg recruitment to the tumor site;the Tregs then secreted TGF-β,which in turn promoted L1 CAM expression via Smad2/3 in a positive feedback loop.Conclusions:Our findings provide new insight into the mechanism of immune evasion mediated by L1 CAM,suggesting that targeting L1 CAM-CCL22-TGF-βcrosstalk between tumor cells and Tregs may offer a unique means to improve treatment of patients with ESCC. 展开更多

The employment of microwave absorbents is highly desirable to address the increasing threats of electromagnetic pollution.Importantly,developing ultrathin absorbent is acknowledged as a linchpin in the design of lightweight and flexible electronic devices,but there are remaining unprecedented challenges.Herein,the self-assembly VS_(4)/rGO heterostructure is constructed to be engineered as ultrathin microwave absorbent through the strategies of architecture design and interface engineering.The microarchitecture and heterointerface of VS_(4)/rGO heterostructure can be regulated by the generation of VS_(4) nanorods anchored on rGO,which can effectively modulate the impedance matching and attenuation constant.The maximum reflection loss of 2VS_(4)/rGO40 heterostructure can reach−43.5 dB at 14 GHz with the impedance matching and attenuation constant approaching 0.98 and 187,respectively.The effective absorption bandwidth of 4.8 GHz can be achieved with an ultrathin thickness of 1.4 mm.The far-reaching comprehension of the heterointerface on microwave absorption performance is explicitly unveiled by experimental results and theoretical calculations.Microarchitecture and heterointerface synergistically inspire multi-dimensional advantages to enhance dipole polarization,interfacial polarization,and multiple reflections and scatterings of microwaves.Overall,the strategies of architecture design and interface engineering pave the way for achieving ultrathin and enhanced microwave absorption materials. 展开更多

The placement of pressure taps on the surface of the wind tunnel test model is an important means toobtain the surface pressure distribution.However,limited by space location and experimental cost,it isdifficult to arrange enough pressure measuring taps on the surface of complex models to obtain completepressure distribution information,thus it is impossible to obtain accurate lift and moment characteristicsthrough integration.The paper proposes a refined reconstruction method of airfoil surface pressure basedon compressed sensing,which can reconstruct the pressure distribution with high precision with lesspressure measurement data.Tests on typical airfoil subsonic flow around flow show that the accuracyof lift and moment after the pressure integration reconstructed by 4-8 measuring points can meet therequirements of the national military standard.The algorithm is robust to noise,and provides a new ideafor obtaining accurate force data from sparse surface pressure tests in engineering. 展开更多

Objective:To predict B cell and T cell epitopes of 22-kDa,47-kDa,56-kDa and 58-kDa proteins.Methods:The sequences of 22-kDa,47-kDa,56-kDa and 58-kDa proteins which were derived from Orientia tsutsugamushi were analyzed by SOPMA,DNAstar,Bcepred,ABCpred,NetMHC,NetMHCⅡand IEDB.The 58-kDa tertiary structure model was built by MODELLER9.17.Results:The 22-kDa B-cell epitopes were located at positions 194-200,20-26 and 143-154,whereas the T-cell epitopes were located at positions 154-174,95-107,17-25 and 57-65.The 47-kD a protein B-cell epitopes were at positions 413-434,150-161 and 283-322,whereas the T-cell epitopes were located at positions 129-147,259-267,412-420 and 80-88.The 56-kDa protein B-cell epitopes were at positions 167-173,410-419 and 101-108,whereas the T-cell epitopes were located at positions 88-104,429-439,232-240 and 194-202.The 58-kDa protein B-cell epitopes were at positions 312-317,540-548 and 35-55,whereas the T-cell epitopes were located at positions 415-434,66-84 and 214-230.Conclusions:We identified candidate epitopes of 22-kDa,47-kDa,56-kDa and 58-kDa proteins from Orientia tsutsugamushi.In the case of 58-kDa,the dominant antigen is displayed on tertiary structure by homology modeling.Our findings will help target additional recombinant antigens with strong specificity,high sensitivity,and stable expression and will aid in their isolation and purification. 展开更多
