AIM To evaluate the safety and efficacy of sorafenib plus transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) treatment for intermediate hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS Sixty-seven patients with intermediate-stage [Barcelona Clinic liver cancer stage B(BCLC-B)] HCC who were treated with sorafenib plus TACE or TACE alone between 2009 and 2011 were included in the study. Follow-up was until 2014 or patient death. Two groups were defined in the experiment: The experimental group, treated with sorafenib plus TACE, and the control group, treated with standard TACE alone.RESULTS The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the median overall survival(m OS) of the experimental group was 35.2 mo, while that of the control group was 22.0 mo(P < 0.05). Sorafenib plus TACE showed higher incidence rates of rash, hand-foot syndrome(HFS), and hypertension(P < 0.05) than TACE treatment alone.CONCLUSION Sorafenib plus TACE treatment for BCLC-B HCC significantly prolonged the m OS of patients compared to TACE treatment alone. The most common toxicities with sorafenib were rash(31.6%), HFS(39.5%) and hypertension(31.6%), but there were no intolerable adverse events. The Cox multivariate analysis showed that the survival of patients with BCLC-B HCC depended on the Child-Pugh classification, tumor diameter, and treatment with sorafenib plus TACE compared to TACE alone. 展开更多

The objective of receptivity is to investigate the mechanisms by which external disturbances generate unsta- ble waves. In hypersonic boundary layers, a new receptivity process is revealed, which is that fast and slow acoustics through nonlinear interaction can excite the second mode near the lower-branch of the second mode. They can generate a sum-frequency disturbance though nonlinear interaction, which can excite the second mode. This receptivity process is generated by the nonlinear interaction and the nonparal- lel nature of the boundary layer. The receptivity coefficient is sensitive to the wavenumber difference between the sumfrequency disturbance and the lower-branch second mode. When the wavenumber difference is zero, the receptivity coefficient is maximum. The receptivity coefficient decreases with the increase of the wavenumber difference. It is also found that the evolution of the sum-frequency disturbance grows linearly in the beginning. It indicates that the forced term generated by the sum-frequency disturbance resonates with the second mode. 展开更多

As one of the representative drugs for clearing heat-toxicity, Chinese medicine DaXueTeng (Caulis Sargentodoxae) contains various chemical substances such as tannins, glycosides, cyclic polyphenols, triterpenoids, lignins, flavonoids, terpenoids and organic acids. It has a wide range of pharmacological effects. Meanwhile, it is valued by the doctor. Modern research suggests that DaXueTeng has antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, and immunosuppressive effects. It has been experimentally and clinically proven that the active constituents of DaXueTeng have a good therapeutic effect on inflammatory diseases. It is widely used in the treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease, annexitis, prostatitis, appendicitis, periappendiceal abscess, inflammatory intestinal obstruction, UC, endometriosis, inflammatory secondary infertility, gouty arthritis, pharyngitis, and stomatitis. Here we review the anti-inflammatory pharmacological effects and clinical applications of. 展开更多

Background: We summarized the Polyporusus Bellatus (PPS) efficacy of immunomodulation, liver protection and anti-tumor, then provide scientific basis for further research and clinical application. This dissertation first overview relevant literatures of PPS recent years and describe comprehensively the research progress of the immunoregulation, liver protection and anti-tumor effects and mechanism of PPS. The review shows that the PPS play anti-tumor effects through antioxidation, scavenging free radicals, inhibiting tumor cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, affecting tumor gene expressions and enhancing immune functions. PPS can exert immunoregulatory, hepatoprotective and anti-tumor effects through multiple pathways and multiple targets, which provides a good application prospect in clinic. 展开更多
