The effects of the erosion present on the leading edge of a wind turbine airfoil(DU 96-W-180)on its aerodynamic performances have been investigated numerically in the framework of a SST k–ωturbulence model based on the Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations(RANS).The results indicate that when sand-induced holes and small pits are involved as leading edge wear features,they have a minimal influence on the lift and drag coefficients of the airfoil.However,if delamination occurs in the same airfoil region,it significantly impacts the lift and resistance characteristics of the airfoil.Specifically,as the angle of attack grows,there is a significant decrease in the lift coefficient accompanied by a sharp increase in the drag coefficient.As wear intensifies,these effects gradually increase.Moreover,the leading edge wear can exacerbate flow separation near the trailing edge suction surface of the airfoil and cause forward displacement of the separation point. 展开更多

The focus of this research was on the equivalent particle roughness height correction required to account for the presence of ice when determining the performances of wind turbines.In particular,two icing processes(frost ice and clear ice)were examined by combining the FENSAP-ICE and FLUENT analysis tools.The ice type on the blade surfaces was predicted by using a multi-time step method.Accordingly,the influence of variations in icing shape and ice surface roughness on the aerodynamic performance of blades during frost ice formation or clear ice formation was investigated.The results indicate that differences in blade surface roughness and heat flux lead to disparities in both ice formation rate and shape between frost ice and clear ice.Clear ice has a greater impact on aerodynamics compared to frost ice,while frost ice is significantly influenced by the roughness of its icy surface. 展开更多

Intranasal delivery of rapid-onset antidepressants:a new trend of treating major depressive disorder

Existing antidepressants seem to have an onset time of several weeks.However,newly found depression-related receptors and pathways may enlighten us to find more rapid-onset antidepressants,in which ketamine is one of the most potential antidepressants.By intranasal administration,drugs can be directly delivered to the brain via olfactory nerve route,which is proved to be suitable for some antidepressants.Well-designed rapid-onset antidepressants are the urgent requirements of the patients with depression.Intranasal administration,as a potential strategy to deliver antidepressants to brain,can improve drug efficacy and largely shorten the onset time.In this article,we sorted out some new formulation approaches in treating depression with different mechanisms and pathways compared with traditional treating strategies,along with new findings in clinical studies,proving that the combination of rapid-onset antidepressants with intranasal delivery will lead a new trend in treating depression. 展开更多

Activatable and Self-Monitoring Hydrogen Sulfide-Based Molecular Senomorphics for Visualized Regulation of Cellular Senescence

Specific regulation of the senescence-associated secretory phenotype(SASP)is vital to block senescence-induced detrimental cellular plasticity.Recently,some chemical compounds called senomorphics have demonstrated such potential,but it remains challenging to achieve site-specific activation and real-time monitoring of the action of senomorphics,posing great obstacles for transformable applications.Here,we report a tailor-made hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)donor(Lyso-FH_(2)S-Gal)as a new class of molecule senomorphics for spatially controlled delivery of H_(2)S for visualization of regulation of cellular senescence.It comprises four functional moieties in a single molecular structure,including a lysosome-targeting group for cell recognition,a lysosomal enzyme-cleaved scaffold for site-specific activation,thiocarbamate as the H_(2)S precursor,and a switchable fluorophore for concurrent selfreporting of H_(2)S release and senescence imaging.Lyso-FH_(2)S-Gal exhibited remarkable response selectivity,sustained H_(2)S release,and 141-fold fluorescence enhancement.In cellular models,Lyso-FH_(2) S-Gal preferentially enriched in senescent cells over nonsenescent cells,and alleviated the levels of SASP and reactive oxygen species(ROS)in senescent cells,while remaining inert in nonsenescent cells.More impressively,it efficiently inhibited the SASPmediated crosstalk between senescent cells and surrounding nonsenescent cells,thereby preventing senescence propagation.This work offers a useful molecular tool with the hope for controlled intervention of senescence-related important biological processes. 展开更多
