Last but not the least, Miller's proposal on repetition also has some limitations. S., keep deepening and upgrading itstheories on the basis of its profundity, and enlarging its research scope. A literaturereview of western rhetorical criticism in the past two decades can provide someacademic nutrition to domestic research and deliver certain implicational meaningto it. 文摘Rhetorical criticism enjoys a long history of studies, and the researchin this field upsurged at the end of 20th century and the beginning of 21st century.In the article, the author aims to investigate the developmental trends in this filedat home and abroad by a literature review of the studies in the past two decades.It has been proved in the research that domestic studies can be classified into fourtypes—introducing theories of western rhetorical criticism in the U.S., building newmodels of western rhetorical criticism, comparing theories of Chinese and Westernrhetorical criticism, and applying western rhetorical criticism into domestic use; whilestudies abroad in this field, especially in the U. S., keep deepening and upgrading itstheories on the basis of its profundity, and enlarging its research scope. A literaturereview of western rhetorical criticism in the past two decades can provide someacademic nutrition to domestic research and deliver certain implicational meaningto it. In the future, more studies should be carried out to systematize the theory ofwestern rhetorical criticism and to incorporate the updated theory into the analysis ofrhetorical practice in our country, thus expressing the strong interpretative power ofwestern rhetorical criticism.

This paper tries to analyze the class structure and class discrimination in the Southern United States from the perspective of Western Marxist literary criticism in the 19th to 20th centuries of the text, and further expand the thematic significance of the literary text.
文摘Feminist literary theory underpins literature from matriarchal perspective revolting against prototype patriarchal ritual i.e.established dogmatism,superstition,close-eyed religious propaganda,language engineering and so forth.It questions the textual politics of dissipating womankind in literature.It shatters long-cherishing outlook of gender inequality,gender politics,power relation,sexual objectification,oppression,patriarchy,stereotyping and so on.In this connection,this theory sees women along with their experiences,thinking,language,position and role playing,cultural conditioning,diction,and above all,matriarchal assertion in literature.Feminist literary criticism has been generated from feminism and the basic aim of the theory is to investigate and trace out how female characters have been positioned in literature compared with male characters in terms of social and biological factors of different ages of the past started from antiquity.Feminist literary theory has also deconstructed texts from two different perspectives i.e.text written by men and text written by women.This paper attempts to evalualte feminist literary criticism as a subtle machinery or paradigm of matriarchy not only in avant-garde but also in old texts of literature.
