This article summarizes the methods and strategies used for the improvement and assessment of MEDM skill, and it attempts to establish a technical framework to inspire further ideas concerning MEDM skill improvement. The skill of MEDMs can be improved by parameter optimization(PO), which is an important step in model calibration. An effi cient approach to solve the problem of PO constrained by MEDMs is the global treatment of both sensitivity analysis and PO. Model validation is an essential step following PO, which validates the effi ciency of model calibration by analyzing and estimating the goodness-of-fi t of the optimized model. Additionally, by focusing on the degree of impact of various factors on model skill, model uncertainty analysis can supply model users with a quantitative assessment of model confi dence. Research on MEDMs is ongoing; however, improvement in model skill still lacks global treatments and its assessment is not integrated. Thus, the predictive performance of MEDMs is not strong and model uncertainties lack quantitative descriptions, limiting their application. Therefore, a large number of case studies concerning model skill should be performed to promote the development of a scientifi c and normative technical framework for the improvement of MEDM skill.展开更多

Some issues concerning the dynamic behavior of the system were discussed, such as the prediction of the inverse response phenomenon. The proposed models (Het- erogeneous I and II and Pseudo-homogeneous) were able to predict with qualitative similarity the main characteristics of the dynamic behavior of a fixed-bed catalytic reactor, including the inverse response. The computational time demanded for the solution of the heterogeneous models was 10 to 50% longer than in the case of the pseudo-homogeneous model, making the use of the former suitable for applications where computational time is not the major restriction (off-line applications). On the other hand, when on-line applications are required, the simplified model (Pseudo-homogeneous model) showed to be a good alternative because this model was able to predict (qualitatively) the dynamics of the reactor using a faster and easier numerical solution.展开更多

The maximum simplified one consists of two variables, living grass biomass and soil wetness. The analyses of such models show that there exists only desert regime without grasses if the precipitation p is less than a critical value pc; the grass biomass continuously depends on p if the interaction between grass biomass and the soil wetness is weak, but the strong interaction results in the bifurcation of grass biomass in the vicinity of pc: the grass biomass is rich as p > pc, but it becomes desertification as p<pc. Periodic solutions also exist in the model, if the seasonal cycle of model's parameters is introduced. An improved model consists of three variables, i.e. the living grass biomass x, the nonliving grass biomass accumulated on the ground surface y and the soil wetness z. The behaviours of such three variables model are more complicated. The initial values of y and z play a very important role.展开更多

The thermal models are used to calculate the heat exchange between distributing air and coil pipes and outlet temperatures of air and heat or chilled fluid. The aerodynamic models are used to account for the pressure drop of the air crossing the coil tubes. They can also be used to optimize the structures of such coils. The models are based on principal laws of heat and mass conservation and fluid mechanics. They are transparent and easy to use. In our work, a coil is considered as an assembly of numbers of basic elements in which all the state variables are unique. Therefore we can conveniently simulate the coils with different structures and different geometric parameters. Two modular programs TRNSYS (Transient System Simulation) and ESACAP are utilized as supporting softwares which make the programming and simulation greatly simplified. The coil elements and a real coil were simulated. The results were compared with the data offered by the manufacturer (company SOFICA) and also with those obtained using critical methods such as NTU method, etc. and good agreement is attained.展开更多

In a noisy area, a practical solution for noise attenuation may include both the use of baffles and ANC. When the operator is required to stay in movement in a delimited spatial area, conventional ANC is usually not able to adequately cancel the noise over the whole area. New control strategies need to be devised to achieve acceptable spatial coverage. A three-dimensional actuator model is proposed in this paper. Active Noise Control (ANC) usually requires a feedback noise measurement for the proper response of the loop controller. In some situations, especially where the real-time tridimensional positioning of a feedback transducer is unfeasible, the availability of a 3D precise noise level estimator is indispensable. In our previous works [1,2], using a vibrating signal of the primary source of noise as an input reference for spatial noise level prediction proved to be a very good choice. Another interesting aspect observed in those previous works was the need for a variable-structure linear model, which is equivalent to a sort of a nonlinear model, with unknown analytical equivalence until now. To overcome this in this paper we propose a model structure based on an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) as a nonlinear black-box model to capture the dynamic nonlinear behaveior of the investigated process. This can be used in a future closed loop noise cancelling strategy. We devise an ANN architecture and a corresponding training methodology to cope with the problem, and a MISO (Multi-Input Single-Output) model structure is used in the identification of the system dynamics. A metric is established to compare the obtained results with other works elsewhere. The results show that the obtained model is consistent and it adequately describes the main dynamics of the studied phenomenon, showing that the MISO approach using an ANN is appropriate for the simulation of the investigated process. A clear conclusion is reached highlighting the promising results obtained using this kind of modeling for ANC.展开更多

Length-weight relationships and growth and mortality parameters were analyzed using FiSAT II software. Five species had isometric growth, two species had negative allometric growth, and one species had positive allometric growth. Overall, the exploitation rates of the eight species were lower in 2006 2007 than in 1997-1999: for four species (Saurida tumbil, Saurida undosquamis, Argyrosomus macrocephalus, and Nemipterus virgatus) it was lower in 2006-2007 than in 1997 1999, for two species (Parargyrops edita and Trichiurus haumela) it remained the same, and for the other two species (Trachurus japonicus and Decapterus maruadsi) it was higher in 2006~007 than in 1997-1999. The exploitation rates might have declined because of the decline in fishing intensity caused by high crude oil prices. The optimum exploitation rate, estimated using Beverton-Holt dynamic pool models, indicated that although fishes in the Beibu Gulf could sustain high exploitation rates, the under-size fishes at first capture resulted in low yields. To increase the yield per recruitment, it is more effective to increase the size at first capture than to control fishing effort.展开更多

It determines not only the population densities but also other important ecosystem structural variables. In current DGVMs, establishments of woody plant functional types (PFTs) are assumed to be either the same in the same grid cell, or largely stochastic. We investigated the uncertainties in the competition of establishment among coexisting woody PFTs from three aspects: the dependence of PFT establishments on vegetation states; background establishment; and relative establishment potentials of different PFTs. Sensitivity experi- ments showed that the dependence of establishment rate on the fractional coverage of a PFT favored the dominant PFT by increasing its share in establishment. While a small background establishment rate had little impact on equilibrium states of the ecosystem, it did change the timescale required for the establishment of alien species in pre-existing forest due to their disadvantage in seed competition during the early stage of invasion. Meanwhile, establishment purely fiom background (the scheme commonly used in current DGVMs) led to inconsistent behavior in response to the change in PFT specification (e.g., number of PFTs and their specification). Furthermore, the results also indicated that trade-off between irtdividual growth and reproduction/colonization has significant influences on the competition of establishment. Hence, further development of es- tablishment parameterization in DGVMs is essential in reducing the uncertainties in simulations of both ecosystem structures and successions.展开更多

A dynamic model of bridging fiber pull-out of composite materials was presented. Resultingly the fiber failure is governed by maximum tensile stress, the fiber breaks and hence the crack extension should occur in self-similar fashion. By the methods of complex functions, the problem studied can be transformed into the dynamic model to the Reimann-Hilbert mixed boundary value problem, and a straightforward and easy analytical solution is presented. Analytical study on the crack propagation subjected to a ladder load and an instantaneous pulse loading is obtained respectively for orthotropic anisotropic body. By utilizing the solution, the concrete solutions of this model are attained by ways of superposition.展开更多

We focused on the effect of the pre-stimulation paradigm on the SSVEP dynamic models and the dynamic response process of SSVEP, and performed a comparative analysis of three pre-stimulus paradigms(black, gray, and white). Four dynamic models with different orders(second-and third-order)and with and without a zero point were used to fit the SSVEP envelope. The zero-pole analytical method was adopted to conduct quantitative analysis on the dynamic models, and the response characteristics of SSVEP were represented by zero-pole distribution characteristics. The results of this study indicated that the pre-stimulation paradigm affects the characteristics of SSVEP, and the dynamic models had good fitting abilities with SSVEPs under various types of pre-stimulation. Furthermore, the zero-pole characteristics of the models effectively characterize the damping coefficient, oscillation period, and other SSVEP characteristics. The comparison of zeros and poles indicated that the gray pre-stimulation condition corresponds to a lower damping coefficient, thus showing its potential to improve the performance of SSVEP-BCIs.展开更多

文摘This study focuses on exploring the complex dynamical behaviors of a magnetic microrobot in a random environment. The purpose is to reveal the mechanism of influence of random disturbance on microrobot dynamics. This paper establishes stochastic dynamic models for the microrobot before and after deformation, considering the influence of Gaussian white noise. The system responses are analyzed via steady-state probability density functions and first deformation time. The effects of different magnetic field strengths and fluid viscosities on the movement speed and angular velocity of the microrobot are studied. The results indicate that random disturbances can cause deformation of microrobots in advance compared to the deterministic case. This work contributes to the design and motion control of microrobots and enhances the theoretical foundation of microrobots.

文摘Length-frequency data of eight commercial fish species in the Beibu Gulf (Golf of Tonkin), northern South China Sea, were collected during 2006-2007. To increase the yield per recruitment, it is more effective to increase the size at first capture than to control fishing effort.

文摘Vibrations of a rotor-bearing system(RBS)can be affected by the frictional forces between the components of the inherent bearings. Thus,an in-depth investigation of the influences of the frictional moments of the bearings on the vibrations of the RBS can be helpful for understanding the vibration mechanisms in the rotating machinery. In this study,an improved dynamic model of a RBS considering different frictional force models is presented.A comparative investigation on the influences of the empirical and analytical frictional force models on the vibration characteristics of the RBS is proposed. The empirical frictional force models include Palmgren’s and SKF’s models. The analytical frictional force model considers the rolling friction caused by the radial elastic material hysteresis, slipping friction between the ball and races, viscosity friction caused by the lubricating oil,and contact friction between the ball and cage. The influences of the external load and rotational speed on the vibrations of the RBS are analyzed. The comparative results show that the analytical frictional force model can give a more reasonable method for formulating the effects of the friction forces in the bearings on the vibrations of the RBS.The results also demonstrate that the friction forces in the bearings can significantly affect the vibrations of the RBSs.

文摘In order to investigate the dynamic behavior of non-conservative systems, the Lie symmetries and conserved quantities of fractional Birkhoffian dynamics based on quasi-fractional dynamics model are proposed and studied. The quasi-fractional dynamics model here refers to the variational problem based on the definition of RiemannLiouville fractional integral(RLFI),the variational problem based on the definition of extended exponentially fractional integral(EEFI),and the variational problem based on the definition of fractional integral extended by periodic laws(FIEPL).First, the fractional Pfaff-Birkhoff principles based on quasi-fractional dynamics models are established, and the corresponding Birkhoff’s equations and the determining equations of Lie symmetry are obtained.Second, for fractional Birkhoffian systems based on quasi-fractional models, the conditions and forms of conserved quantities are given, and Lie symmetry theorems are proved. The Pfaff-Birkhoff principles,Birkhoff’s equations and Lie symmetry theorems of quasi-fractional Birkhoffian systems and classical Birkhoffian systems are special cases of this article. Finally, some examples are given.
文摘The 3-hour-interval prediction of ground-level temperature from +00 h out to +45 h in South Korea (38 stations) is performed using the DLM (dynamic linear model) in order to eliminate the systematic error of numerical model forecasts. Numerical model forecasts and observations are used as input values of the DLM. According to the comparison of the DLM forecasts to the KFM (Kalman filter model) forecasts with RMSE and bias, the DLM is useful to improve the accuracy of prediction.

文摘In Dynamic Global Vegetation Models (DGVMs), the establishment of woody vegetation refers to flowering, fertiliza- tion, seed production, germination, and the growth of tree seedlings. Hence, further development of es- tablishment parameterization in DGVMs is essential in reducing the uncertainties in simulations of both ecosystem structures and successions.
文摘An elastic analysis of an internal central crack with bridging fibers parallel to the free surface in an infinite orthotropic anisotropic elastic plane was performed. By utilizing the solution, the concrete solutions of this model are attained by ways of superposition.

文摘This study explored methods for improving the performance of Steady-State Visual Evoked Potential(SSVEP)-based Brain-Computer Interfaces(BCI), and introduced a new analytical method to quantitatively analyze and reflect the characteristics of SSVEP. The comparison of zeros and poles indicated that the gray pre-stimulation condition corresponds to a lower damping coefficient, thus showing its potential to improve the performance of SSVEP-BCIs.
文摘The global pandemic, coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),has significantly affected tourism, especially in Spain,as it was among the first countries to be affected by the pandemic and is among the world’s biggest tourist destinations.Stock market values are responding to the evolution of the pandemic, especially in the case of tourist companies. Therefore, being able to quantify this relationship allows us to predict the effect of the pandemic on shares in the tourism sector, thereby improving the response to the crisis by policymakers and investors.Accordingly,a dynamic regression model was developed to predict the behavior of shares in the Spanish tourism sector according to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in the medium term.It has been confirmed that both the number of deaths and cases are good predictors of abnormal stock prices in the tourism sector.
