Ultrashort pulses complicate the frequency conversion in a nonlinear crystal, where group velocity mismatch becomes the main obstacle due to dispersion. We present a design for group velocity compensated second harmonic generation in a modulated nonlinear structure, embedded in a liquid crystal box. In this structure, nonlinear crystals act as sources of signal and liquid crystals compensate for group velocity mismatch originating from nonlinear crystals. There are the advantages of the flexible, controllable birefringence of liquid crystals. Meanwhile, a method calculating the parameters of this type of structure is presented. To make it clear, an example is provided. Furthermore, the structure can also be shaped as a waveguide to support integration into other optical devices, applicable to all-optical processing systems. 展开更多

In 0.1 mol/L HCl medium, 12-tungstophosphoric(TP) acid reacted with matrine(Mat) and oxymatrine(Oxy) to form an ion-association complex. As a result, the new spectra of resonance Rayleigh scattering(RRS), second-order scattering(SOS) and frequency doubling scattering(FDS) appeared and their intensities were enhanced greatly. The maximum scattering wavelengths of RRS, SOS and FDS were located at 370, 670 and 390 nm, respectively. The in-crements of scattering intensity were directly proportional to the concentration of Mat and Oxy in a certain range. Based on this, the method for the determination of matrine and oxymatrine has been established. It has been applied to the determination of matrine and oxymatrine in samples of Radix sophorae flavescentis with satisfactory result. The reaction mechanism and reasons of RRS enhancement were discussed. 展开更多

By using an external-cavity frequency-doubling master oscillator fiber power amplifier (MOPA), a 700 mW continuous-wave single-frequency laser source at 780 nm is produced. It is shown that the frequency doubling efficiency is improved when the seed diode laser is optically locked to a resonant frequency of a confocal Fabry-Perot (F-P) cavity. This phenomenon can be attributed to the narrowing of the 1.56 μm laser linewidth and explained by our presented theoretical model. The experimental results are found to be in good agreement with the theoretical predictions. 展开更多

The thickness of ... Design and preparation of frequency doubling antireflection coating with different thicknesses of interlayer were investigated for LIB3O5 (LBO) substrate. The design was based on the vector method. The thickness of the inserted SiO2 interlayer could be changed in a wide range for the four-layer design with two zeros at 1064 and 532 nm. The coatings without any interlayer and with 0.1 quarter-wave (λ/4), 0.3 λ/4, 0.5 λ/4 SiO2 interlayer were deposited respectively on LBO by using electron beam evaporation technique. All the prepared coatings with SiO2 interlayer indicated satisfying optical behavior. This expanded our option for the thickness of an interlayer when coating on LBO substrate. The prepared films with SiO2 interlayer showed better adhesion than that without any interlayer. The thickness of the interlayer affected the adhesion, the adhesion for the coating with 0.5 λ/4 SiO2 interlayer was not as good as the other two. 展开更多

The interaction between palladium(II)-chlorpromazine hydrochloride and sodium tungstate was investigated by ultravioletvisible absorption,resonance Rayleigh scattering(RRS),second-order scattering(SOS)and frequency doubling scattering (FDS)spectroscopy.In pH 5.3 Britton-Robinson(BR)buffer medium,chlorpromazine hydrochloride(CPZ)reacted with Pd(II) to form 2:1 cationic chelate,which further reacted with Na2WO4 to form a 1:1 ternary ion-association complex ([Pd(CPZ)2]·WO4).As a result,the signal intensities of RRS,SOS and FDS were enhanced greatly,and the enhancements of scattering were proportional to the CPZ concentration in a certain range.Their maximum wavelengths were located at 310 nm, 570 nm and 391 nm,respectively and the detection limits(3)were 1.6 ng/mL(RRS method),3.2 ng/mL(SOS method)and 5.6 ng/mL(FDS method).The optimum reaction conditions,the influences of coexisting substances and analytical application were mainly investigated by RRS method due to its highest sensitivity.A highly sensitive,simple,rapid and new method had been proposed to determine CPZ in the pharmaceutical form and residue of CPZ in pork.In addition,the Gibbs free energy change(△Gf)of ion-association reaction was computed by using B3LYP/3-21g*/LanL2dz method.The formation of ion-association and the reasons for the enhancement of RRS were also discussed. 展开更多

Binding of heparin with methylene blue (MB) in pH 5.7 Britton Robinson buffer can result in a significant enhancement of frequency doubling scattering (FDS) and second order scattering (SOS). Their maximum scattering wavelengths ( λ max ) appear at 350 nm for FDS and 700 nm for SOS, respectively. The optimum conditions of the reaction, the influencing factors and the relationship between the two scattering intensities and the concentration of heparin have been investigated. The new methods for the determination of trace amounts of heparin based on the FDS and SOS methods have been developed, which exhibit high sensitivities. The detection limits of heparin are 4.36 ng/mL for the FDS method and 3.55 ng/mL for the SOS method, respectively. Both of the methods have fairly good selectivity and were applied to the determination of heparin in sodium heparinate injection samples with satisfactory results. Moreover, the relative mechanisms have also been discussed. 展开更多

Frequency selective surfaces(FSSs)play an important role in wireless systems as these can be used as filters,in isolating the unwanted radiation,in microstrip patch antennas for improving the performance of these antennas and in other 5G applications.The analysis and design of the double concentric ring frequency selective surface(DCRFSS)is presented in this research.In the sub-6 GHz 5G FR1 spectrum,a computational synthesis technique for creating DCRFSS based spatial filters is proposed.The analytical tools presented in this study can be used to gain a better understanding of filtering processes and for constructing the spatial filters.Variation of the loop sizes,angles of incidence,and polarization of the concentric rings are the factors which influence the transmission coefficient as per the thorough investigation performed in this paper.A novel synthesis approach based on mathematical equations that may be used to determine the physical parameters ofDCRFSSbased spatial filters is presented.The proposed synthesis technique is validated by comparing results from high frequency structure simulator(HFSS),Ansys electronic desktop circuit editor,and an experimental setup.Furthermore,the findings acquired from a unit cell are expanded to a 2×2 array,which shows identical performance and therefore proves its stability. 展开更多

An enhancement factor of 24 is obtained when the injecting pulses have an average power of 1 W and a pulse duration of 80 fs. By placing a BBO crystal at the focus of the cavity, we obtain a 392-mW intracavity doubled-frequency laser, corresponding to a conversion efficiency of 43%. AIM: To study the efficacy and the safety of laser lithotripsy without direct visual control by using a balloon catheter in patients with bile duct stones that could not be extracted by standard technique. METHODS: The seventeen patients (7 male and 10 female; mean age 67.8 years) with difficult common bile duct (CBD) stones were not amenable for conventional endoscopic maneuvers such as sphincterotomy and mechanical lithotripsy were included in this study. Laser wavelengths of 532 nm and 1064 nm as a double pulse were applied with pulse energy of 120 mJ. The laser fiber was advanced under fluoroscopic control through the ERCP balloon catheter. Laser lithotripsy was continued until the fragment size seemed to be less than 10 mm. Endoscopic extraction of the stones and fragments was performed with the use of the Dormia basket and balloon catheter. RESULTS: Bile duct clearance was achieved in 15 of 17 patients (88%). The mean number of treatment sessions was 1.7 ± 0.6. Endoscopic stone removal could not be achieved in 2 patients (7%). Adverse effects were noted in three patients (hemobilia, pancreatitis, and cholangitis). CONCLUSION: The Frequency Doubled Double Pulse Nd:YAG (FREDDY) laser may be an effective and safe technique in treatment of difficult bile duct stones. 展开更多

The Debao MS4.8 earthquake occurred in western Guangxi on August 5,2021,near where the Jingxi MS5.2 earthquake occurred in 2019.To study the increasing seismicity in western Guangxi,it is necessary to determine whether there was an anomaly related to the earthquake source near the Pingxiang gravity station,which is located approximately 100 km from the epicenter of the Debao MS4.8 earthquake.In this study,the R-value scoring method was used to analyze the anomaly and evaluate the prediction efficiency of the double frequency(DF)micro-seismic signal vertical displacement(referred to as vertical displacement,VD)and the absolute value of monthly extreme rate(referred to as the monthly rate).Results show that earthquakes larger than MS4.0 in the 350 km range from the Pingxiang station tend to coincide with yearly typhoons,and the VD of micro-seismic signals correspondingly changes from low to high.The Debao MS4.8 earthquake occurred during a gradual VD increase from 0.05×10^(-6)to 0.10×10^(-6)m.When discussing the relationships among R,the rate threshold,and the effective duration of prediction,the rate threshold of the micro-seismic signal converges from 0.00039×10^(-6)to 0.00031×10^(-6)m/month,the effective duration of prediction is approximately 6-10 months,and R also converges from 0.29 to 0.31.By comparing the results of three gPhone gravity stations in Guangxi,we found that the increase of short-term VD before the Debao earthquake was related to the enhancement of the DF micro-seismic signal excited by the typhoon.When the typhoon track was perpendicular to the coastline of China,the possibility of an earthquake occurring was increased.This study provides evidence and reference for the future occurrence period of earthquakes above MS4.0 in western Guangxi. 展开更多

In recent years,the discovery of rare earth calcium oxyborates has resulted in the renewal in the field of SFD crystal.ReCaO(BO 3) 3(ReCOB)is a new type of novel nonlinear optical crystals which is nearly congruently melt and can be grown with Czochralski method.ReCOB crystals possess high nonlinear coefficients and damage thresholds.They are non hydroscopic and easy cutting and polishing.They belong to monoclinic with point group m and space group cm.The strong anisotropy originated from the low symmetry makes the measurement and application of the crystal more complicated.More than half of naturally existed crystals belongs to low symmetry,consequently,the research on the nonlinear and anisotropic laser optical properties are not only important for ReCOB crystal,but also useful for the applications of other low symmetry crystals. 展开更多

We first experimentally demonstrate a laser-diode end-pumped self-Q-switched and mode-locked Nd,Cr:YAG green laser with a KTP crystal as the intra-cavity frequency doubler. The device produces an average output power of 680 mW at 532 nm. The corresponding pulse width of the Q-switched envelope of the green laser is 170 + 20 ns. The mode-locked pulses have a repetition rate of approximately 183 MHz and the average pulse duration is estimated to be around sub-nanosecond. It is found that the intra-cavity frequency doubling greatly improves the modulation depth and stability of the mode-locked pulses within the Q-switched envelope. 展开更多

In a pH=0.65―1.5 NaAc-HCl medium, methylene blue(MB) reacts with 12-tungstophosphoric acid (TPA) by virtue of electrostatic attraction and hydrophobic force to form a 3:2 ion-association complex. As a result, the intensities of resonance Rayleigh scattering(RRS), second-order scattering(SOS) and frequency doubling scatte- ring(FDS) are enhanced greatly. The maximum scattering wavelengths of RRS, SOS and FDS are located at 316, 647 and 311 nm. The increments of scattering intensity(△I) are directly proportional to the concentration of MB in a certain range. The methods exhibited high sensitivity, and the detection limits(3s) for MB are 2.3 ng/mL(RRS method), 5.6 ng/mL(SOS method) and 6.4 ng/mL(FDS method), respectively. The effects of coexisting substances have been examined, and the results indicate that the methods have good selectivity. Based on the above researches, a new spectral method for the determination of trace amounts of MB has been developed. It can be applied to the determination of MB in human serum, and the recoveries are 97.5%―105.0%. The results are in good agreement with those obtained by the pharmacopoeia method. In this work, the optimum conditions of the reaction and the influencing factors were investigated. In addition, the reaction mechanism and the reasons of the enhancement of resonance light scattering were discussed. 展开更多

In this study, we investigate the nonlinear cou- pling magneto-electric (ME) effect of a giant magnetostric- tive/piezoelectric composite cylinder. The nonlinear consti- tutive relations of the ME material are taken into account, and the influences of the nonlinear material properties on the ME effect are investigated for the static and dynamic cases, respectively. The influences of different constraint conditions on the ME effect are discussed. In the dynamic case considering nonlinear material properties, the double frequency ME response (The response frequency is twice the applied magnetic frequency) is obtained and discussed, which can be used to explain the experiment phenomenon in which the input signal with frequency f is converted to the output signal with 2f in ME laminated structures. Some calculations on nonlinear ME effect are conducted. The obtained results indicate that the nonlinear material properties affect not only the magnitude of the ME effect in the static case but also the ME response frequency in the dynamic case 展开更多

Digital receivers have become more and more popular in radar, communication, and electric warfare for the advantages compared with their analog counterparts. But conventional digital receivers have been generally considered impractical for bandwidth greater than several hundreds MHz. To extend receiver bandwidth, decrease data rate and save hardware resources, three novel structures are proposed. They decimate the data stream prior to mixing and filtering, then process the multiple decimated streams in parallel at a lower rate. Consequently it is feasible to realize wideband receivers on the current ASIC devices. A design example and corresponding simulation results are demonstrated to evaluate the proposed structures. 展开更多

Single crystal of Yb x Y 1- x Al 3(BO 3) 4 (Yb∶YAB) was grown by using flux method based on the potassium trimolybdate. 160 mW efficient continuous wave green output was obtained from a fibre coupled 976 nm laser diode. The conversion efficiency is larger than 11 3%, and the electrical input green conversion efficiency is 3 9%. Tunable green output from 513 0 to 545 8 nm is also demonstrated with a quartz birefringent filter. By enhancing the incident pump power, 1 1 W cw green output can be reached. 展开更多
