And in 1981, the discipline was qualified to confer master’s degree, which was one of the first majors who had the right in China. And in 1984, she was granted as the key discipline by the former Chinese Ministry of Machinery Industry. In 1998, according to the new Catalogue for Undergraduate Specialties issued by the Ministry of Education, the discipline of foundry was adjusted to be involved by the new generalized discipline of Materials Processing Engineering. The new discipline was granted as one of the key disciplines of Liaoning province, and was qualified to have the right of conferring doctor’s degree the same year. The discipline of foundry at SUT has a very strong staff of teaching and scientific research. At present, there are 23 staff members, including 1 academician (dual employment), 5 doctoral supervisors, 10 professors, 4 associate professors, 3 lecturers, 1 senior research engineer,展开更多

In China, there is magnificent demand for heavy castings with the...This paper expatiates on domestic status of heavy steel casting production, with a special focus on hydraulicturbine castings for Three Gorges Project. In China, there is magnificent demand for heavy castings with the rapidgrowth of the national economy in recent years and the expected high growth in the coming 10 to 20 years. Someheavy and large castings such as mill housing and hydraulic turbine runner crown, blade and band for Three GorgesProject have been successfully made. However, the domestic production capability is still far from meeting the giganticrequirements. The domestic capability still lags behind the world class level, and a lot of heavy castings still dependon import. The paper also gives a particular introduction of the key technologies in the manufacturing of heavy steelcastings like metal melting, foundry technology, heat treatment technology and numerical simulation technique, etc.In addition, several case studies on the application of numerical simulation in the production of heavy steel castingsare presented.展开更多
