The Realistic Dilemma and Educational Countermeasures of College Students'Political Identity in the Micro Era

The micro era,when we can see big pictures through micro details,features in innov4tive individuation,decentralized open ecology and interactive democracy,during which the college students5 political identity faces challenges and dilemmas in different dimensions.Combining real problems,this essay proposes to enhance college students’political identity from the perspective of ideological and political education,which embraces every college students,and embeds in every process as well as aspect.It pays attention to the multiple interactions of educational subjects to optimize the path of political identity education.Resource integration is embedded in students'"micro-life"to strengthen the quality of political identity education.Education content and methods are innovated to build a pattern of ideological and political education.

Political Identity: A Perspective from Cultural Identity

Identity is the ＂sameness＂ and belonging of identification. In a real sense, cultural identity is often related to ethno-cultural identity, while political identity and national identity are more often inseparable. Cultural identity lays particular stress on the group destiny of a people or ethnic group from which its members cannot withdraw. Political identity, on the other hand, highlights the subjective values and intentions chosen, judged and assessed by the members of society. Since modem times, politics, as the surface of the social structure, has demonstrated increasingly serious conflict and perplexity, and the decline of the political identity has gradually developed into a common social phenomenon. Considering the high complementarity and the mutual stimulation between cultural identity and political identity, we should take cultural identity as the pivot for our entry into the actual practice of community politics, with a view to promoting institutional innovations, making interest adjustments, and intensifying the community members＇ sense of belonging. These are exceptionally meaningful for strengthening the political identity of a community.

Governance Change and Political Identity in the Internet Age

The advent of the Internet era has triggered profound changes in national governance,and the profound complexity and highly uncertain nature of governance have imposed new requirements on political identification in the new era.Whether seen environmentally from the point of view of the governance environment or from the point of view of the subjects and structures of governance,the changes brought about by the Internet to national governance have challenged political identity.Therefore,in response to the challenges to political identification posed by changes in Internet governance in the context of the new era,it is necessary to reconstruct new bonds for the political identity of the mass of the people by promoting the modernization of Internet governance on the basis of maintaining a firm grip on domination of cyberspace ideology:implementing integrated governance to achieve developmental identity;strengthening service-oriented governance to build subject identification;and promoting responsive governance to enhance sustainable identity.

The Pathologies of Modernity:Liberalism,Nihilism,Conservatism,Postmodernism,Intersectionality/Identity Politics,and Secular Humanism

In this article,Mocombe highlights what he calls the pathological-pathogenic purposive-rationalities(liberalism,nihilism,conservatism,postmodernism,intersectionality/identity politics,and secular humanism)that emerge out of modernity as constituted by the West under American hegemony.In the place of these pathological-pathogenic responses to the vagaries of modernity,Mocombe calls for an antihumanism,associated with what he calls libertarian communism,as a panacea to the aforementioned malaises.

Struggle for Identity and Transformation of Social Media as Space of Interaction between State and Society

The article is devoted to the struggle for identity which has been intensified in the Russian social media in 2014 both on interpretation of the historical past and on the up-to-date situation, especially, Crimea events. Authors suppose that as a result social media become a means of manipulation more than independent space with rizhoma nature. In 2011-2012 social media were the space of struggle between authority and political opposition. Today space of social media is looking polarized regarding polarization of society in respect of political order and Putin political course.

Freedom of Speech and Newspaper Excesses

Press has been found to have an impact on the outcome of electoral political campaigns. Press can distort the electorate＇s perception of an objective reality to fulfill the political orientation of its editorial line. This can be achieved in propaganda and in the rhetoric of excess. Within the framework of Critical Discourse Analysis （CDA）, this paper has conducted a thematic content analysis to study the rhetoric of excess in the construction of political identity and relations in 100 articles pertaining to two different ideologically oriented Tunisian newspapers, namely Le Maghreb and El Dhamir. The study covered the period from December 26, 2011 to December 26, 2012. Results have shown a low level of impartiality violating Gricean maxims of quality and quantity. This tendency could culminate in violence and undermine the public＇s confidence in the media. Proactive measures of media management are recommended.

The anti-racism protests triggered by the death of black man George Floyd were not merely an extension of the Blacks Lives Matters movement that began under the Obama administration,but also a new manifestation of American race conflict,which is often caused by conflict between the police and civilians.This movement has turned out to be thelargest and longest anti-racism demonstration in America since the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s.The increasingly intense race conflicts,the impact of the Coronavirus(COVID-19)pandemic on the US economy and society,and the heated political struggles of the 2020 election process have contributed to these mass movements.The demonstrations and the pandemic have led to a low approval rating of President Trump,and elevated race relations as an important issue in the election.The result of the 2020 election will affect the evolution of American race relations,but will not change the long-standing fact of American race conflict.

Interrogating Naturalness of National Identity

Nation-state has been considered both an intellectual brainchild and a practical offshoot of the European Enlightenment.The liberal philosophy as an intellectual representative of the Enlightenment tradition and the modernists who emphasize modernization as the practical derivative of it not only deliberated on the simultaneousness and coexistence of the two happenings--the rise of national consciousness on the one hand and appreciation for modern values such as equality,liberty and justice on the other,many theorists argued that these modern values could be realized within a nation-state model(a modern institution).Hence,they contributed to naturalization and de-politicization of the nation-state model.Naturalization/secularization of the nation-state idea without deliberating on the possibilities of politicization and construction of national identities legitimize exclusion of people from national space,drives toward homogenization and nation-building process producing refugees and stateless people.Further,nation-states do not feel the urgency in meeting the normative demands of the international order that strive to defend human rights and address the problem of statelessness.In this context,the article seeks to interrogate the naturalness of national identity of individuals by examining the factors that tend to secularize and naturalize it and by unraveling the real socioeconomic forces that engender and shape national identity and help it look the way it does.

Schizophrenic Border and Viral Optics in Raymond Williams's Border Country

This essay examines Raymond Williams's autobiographical novel Border Country,the first novel of his ambitious"Welsh Trilogy."The aim of the essay is twofold.Firstly,it analyzes the unsettling issue of how a bio-regional place(native place)shapes polyvalent identities in a historically changing environment and how the boundary that crisscrosses the passages of life is redrawn through narrative re-circumscription and optical revision.Secondly,the essay calls this trope of internalizing"border-crossing"into question in the context of global diaspora and critically problematizes Williams's identity politics as schizophrenic split from British post-colonial empire.
