现代大规模互联电网提高了电力系统运行的稳定性和经济性,同时也给电网的故障诊断增加了难度。对电网保护配置和断路器动作规则进行深入分析,提出一种新的电网故障诊断模型——完全解析模型,并为基于此模型的故障诊断提出一种实用有效... 现代大规模互联电网提高了电力系统运行的稳定性和经济性,同时也给电网的故障诊断增加了难度。对电网保护配置和断路器动作规则进行深入分析,提出一种新的电网故障诊断模型——完全解析模型,并为基于此模型的故障诊断提出一种实用有效的求解方法。在完全解析模型中,故障假说(即可疑故障设备的故障情况)与保护、断路器的动作情况及拒动和误动情况一同表示成逻辑变量,而保护配置和断路器动作规则以逻辑方程组形式进行充分表达,逻辑方程组的每个解析解对应一个故障模式(设备故障状态和保护动作、断路器跳闸状态及拒动/误动情况),是对故障情形的完整解释。本模型对故障诊断规则和保护、断路器的动作逻辑进行完全解析,并完整保留了故障设备、保护动作和断路器跳闸之间的耦合关系,克服了已有解析模型的缺陷。算例表明,保留完整耦合关系的完全解析模型可有效提高故障诊断的准确性和容错能力。 展开更多

This paper presents a new approach for deriving a power system aggregate load area model (ALAM). In this approach, an equivalent area load model is derived to represent the load characters for a particular area load of a power system network. The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method is employed to identify the unknown parameters of the generalised system, ALAM, based on the system measurement directly using a one-step scheme. Simulation studies are carried out for an IEEE 14-Bus power system and an IEEE 57-Bus power system. Simulation results show that the ALAM can represent the area load characters accurately under different operational conditions and at different power system states. 展开更多

A system model is established to analyze the dynamic performance of an integrated starter and generator (ISG) hybrid power shafting. The model couples the electromechanical coupling shaft dynamics, the bearing hydrodynamic lubrication and the engine block stiffness. The model is com- pared with the model based on ADAMS or the model neglecting the bearing hydrodynamics. The bearing eccentricity and the oil film pressure have been calculated under different hybrid conditions or at the different motor power levels. It' s found that the bearing hydrodynamics decreases the cal- culation results of the bearing peak load. Changes of the hybrid conditions or the motor power have no significant effect on the main bearing, but have impact on the motor bearing. A hybrid power sys- tem composed of a 1.6 L engine and a 45 kW ISG motor can operate safely. 展开更多

Endeavor was done in this paper to solve the problem. An improved model of actuating mechanism was developed, which could reflect the step closing characteristic of hydro guide vanes. The effect of the inflection point value of actuating mechanism on load rejection was analyzed based on simulation. The non-linear Francis turbine model with power versus gate position module was researched in this paper. Based on field test, comparisons of simulation results with measured data were presented. The analysis demonstrates that the improved models of Francis turbine and governor proposed in this paper are more realistic than the models of BPA, and can be applied in power system simulation analysis better. 展开更多

For the recent expansion of renewable energy applications, Wind Energy System (WES) is receiving much interest all over the world. However, area load change and abnormal conditions lead to mismatches in frequency and scheduled power interchanges between areas. These mismatches have to be corrected by the LFC system. This paper, therefore, proposes a new robust frequency control technique involving the combination of conventional Proportional-Integral (PI) and Model Predictive Control (MPC) controllers in the presence of wind turbines (WT). The PI-MPC technique has been designed such that the effect of the uncertainty due to governor and turbine parameters variation and load disturbance is reduced. A frequency response dynamic model of a single-area power system with an aggregated generator unit is introduced, and physical constraints of the governors and turbines are considered. The proposed technique is tested on the single-area power system, for enhancement of the network frequency quality. The validity of the proposed method is evaluated by computer simulation analyses using Matlab Simulink. The results show that, with the proposed PI-MPC combination technique, the overall closed loop system performance demonstrated robustness regardless of the presence of uncertainties due to variations of the parameters of governors and turbines, and loads disturbances. A performance comparison between the proposed control scheme, the classical PI control scheme and the MPC is carried out confirming the superiority of the proposed technique in presence of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) WT. 展开更多

This paper presents a novel adaptive scheme for energy management in stand-alone hybrid power systems. The proposed management system is designed to manage the power flow between the hybrid power system and energy storage elements in order to satisfy the load requirements based on artificial neural network (ANN) and fuzzy logic controllers. The neural network controller is employed to achieve the maximum power point (MPP) for different types of photovoltaic (PV) panels. The advance fuzzy logic controller is developed to distribute the power among the hybrid system and to manage the charge and discharge current flow for performance optimization. The developed management system performance was assessed using a hybrid system comprised PV panels, wind turbine (WT), battery storage, and proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). To improve the generating performance of the PEMFC and prolong its life, stack temperature is controlled by a fuzzy logic controller. The dynamic behavior of the proposed model is examined under different operating conditions. Real-time measured parameters are used as inputs for the developed system. The proposed model and its control strategy offer a proper tool for optimizing hybrid power system performance, such as that used in smart-house applications. 展开更多

While on the other hand, it makes the dynamic characteristics of the power system becoming more and more complex. That puts forward a new challenge to system stability and raises new questions for power system simulation. This paper focuses on the interaction between AC and DC systems, especially the problem of commutation failure caused by AC system fault. Based on the data of China Southern Power Grid, this paper calculates the fault regions that may cause commutation failure and calculates the system critical clearance time under different load models, analyzes the impacts of different load models on commutation failure and the stability of AC/DC hybrid system. 展开更多

The unit and grid coupling model which reflects the interaction between thermal system of power plant and power system is built using EMTDC/PSCAD. The influence of nonlinear characteristics on the valve opening and the steam turbine mechanical power is also analyzed in this paper. The results of simulation show that the improper setting of parameters reflecting nonlinear characteristics of turbine governor can lead to the cyclical oscillations of the valve opening and the?steam turbine mechanical power, and even can lead to the power oscillation persistently. The research achievements in this paper have a certain reference value on exploring the causes of power oscillation from the prime mover. 展开更多

Rural electrification remains a critical challenge in achieving equitable access to electricity, a cornerstone for poverty alleviation, economic growth, and improved living standards. Capacitor Coupled Substations (CCS) offer a promising solution for delivering cost-effective electricity to these underserved areas. However, the integration of multiple CCS units along a transmission network introduces complex interactions that can significantly impact voltage, current, and power flow. This study presents a detailed mathematical model to analyze the effects of varying distances and configurations of multiple CCS units on a transmission network, with a focus on voltage stability, power quality, and reactive power fluctuations. Furthermore, the research addresses the phenomenon of ferroresonance, a critical issue in networks with multiple CCS units, by developing and validating suppression strategies to ensure stable operation. Through simulation and practical testing, the study provides insights into optimizing CCS deployment, ultimately contributing to more reliable and efficient rural electrification solutions. 展开更多

Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) is an important process in Photovoltaic (PV) systems because of the need to extract maximum power from PV panels used in these systems. Without the ability to track and have PV panels operate at its maximum power point (MPP) entails power losses;resulting in high cost since more panels will be required to provide specified energy needs. To achieve high efficiency and low cost, MPPT has therefore become an imperative in PV systems. In this study, an MPP tracker is modeled using the IC algorithm and its behavior under rapidly changing environmental conditions of temperature and irradiation levels is investigated. This algorithm, based on knowledge of the variation of the conductance of PV cells and the operating point with respect to the voltage and current of the panel calculates the slope of the power characteristics to determine the MPP as the peak of the curve. A simple circuit model of the DC-DC boost converter connected to a PV panel is used in the simulation;and the output of the boost converter is fed through a 3-phase inverter to an electricity grid. The model was simulated and tested using MATLAB/Simulink. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the IC algorithm for tracking the MPP in PV systems operating under rapidly changing temperatures and irradiations with a settling time of 2 seconds. 展开更多
