IoT-Enabled RFID in Supply Chain Management: A Comprehensive Survey and Future Directions

Radio frequency identification (RFID) has emerged as a pivotal technology in supply chain management (SCM), significantly enhancing its efficiency and effectiveness. When integrated with the internet of things (IoT) to form RFID-IoT, this technology brings transformative advancements to SCM, enabling automated sensing, pervasive computing, and ubiquitous data access across the entire supply chain, from manufacturers and distributors to retailers and consumers. This integration facilitates real-time identification and monitoring of products, enhances various processes, improves logistic tracking, and ensures better product quality management. Despite its promising benefits, the adoption of RFID-IoT in SCM faces several challenges, including technical complexities, data security concerns, and high implementation costs. However, the future potential of RFID-IoT technology remains substantial. It is anticipated that further integration with other emerging technologies, such as block chain and artificial intelligence, will lead to more comprehensive and robust SCM solutions, offering unprecedented levels of transparency, efficiency, and automation in supply chain operations.

A Proposed Feature Selection Particle Swarm Optimization Adaptation for Intelligent Logistics--A Supply Chain Backlog Elimination Framework

The diversity of data sources resulted in seeking effective manipulation and dissemination.The challenge that arises from the increasing dimensionality has a negative effect on the computation performance,efficiency,and stability of computing.One of the most successful optimization algorithms is Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)which has proved its effectiveness in exploring the highest influencing features in the search space based on its fast convergence and the ability to utilize a small set of parameters in the search task.This research proposes an effective enhancement of PSO that tackles the challenge of randomness search which directly enhances PSO performance.On the other hand,this research proposes a generic intelligent framework for early prediction of orders delay and eliminate orders backlogs which could be considered as an efficient potential solution for raising the supply chain performance.The proposed adapted algorithm has been applied to a supply chain dataset which minimized the features set from twenty-one features to ten significant features.To confirm the proposed algorithm results,the updated data has been examined by eight of the well-known classification algorithms which reached a minimum accuracy percentage equal to 94.3%for random forest and a maximum of 99.0 for Naïve Bayes.Moreover,the proposed algorithm adaptation has been compared with other proposed adaptations of PSO from the literature over different datasets.The proposed PSO adaptation reached a higher accuracy compared with the literature ranging from 97.8 to 99.36 which also proved the advancement of the current research.

After the COVID-19 pandemic:changes and continuities in the food supply chain

Objectives:As the global COVID-19 pandemic stabilizes and control measures gradually improve,the food supply chain enters the postpandemic era.The food supply chain is closely related to people’s daily life,and it is becoming increasingly important to grasp its development direction in the post-pandemic era.So the aim of this paper is to summarize the changes and continuity of the food supply chains in the postpandemic era.Materials and Methods:We used food reports published by most global authorities as the data source for this study and analyzed the development of production,logistics,and consumption of food supply chains from the two dimensions of post-pandemic and pre-pandemic.Results:Our paper shows,on one hand,the relaxation of COVID-19 control measures allows food production workers to return to their jobs,facilitates smooth food logistics,and reduces uncertainty in the food supply chain,thereby providing a better environment for its development.On the other hand,Industry 4.0 plays an increasingly prominent role in the food supply chain.Conclusions:The trends of digitalization and mechanization in food production,cold chain logistics,smart logistics,online shopping and healthconscious consumption that emerged during the pandemic will continue to persist and evolve in the post-pandemic era.We attempt to systematically analyze the development trend of the food supply chain in the post-pandemic era,point out the implications and approaches for future research,and provide theoretical references for researchers,practitioners,and consumers in the food field.

Research on Alliance Decision of Dual-Channel Remanufacturing Supply Chain Considering Bidirectional Free-Riding and Cost-Sharing

This study delves into the formation dynamics of alliances within a closed-loop supply chain(CLSC)that encom-passes a manufacturer,a retailer,and an e-commerce platform.It leverages Stackelberg game for this exploration,contrasting the equilibrium outcomes of a non-alliance model with those of three differentiated alliance models.The non-alliance model acts as a crucial benchmark,enabling the evaluation of the motivations for various supply chain entities to engage in alliance formations.Our analysis is centered on identifying the most effective alliance strategies and establishing a coordination within these partnerships.We thoroughly investigate the consequences of diverse alliance behaviors,bidirectional free-riding and cost-sharing,and the resultant effects on the optimal decision-making among supply chain actors.The findings underscore several pivotal insights:(1)The behavior of alliances within the supply chain exerts variable impacts on the optimal pricing and demand of its members.In comparison to the non-alliance(D)model,the manufacturer-retailer(MR)and manufacturer-e-commerce platform(ME)alliances significantly lower both offline and online resale prices for new and remanufactured goods.This adjustment leads to an enhanced demand for products via the MR alliance’s offline outlets and the ME alliance’s online platforms,thereby augmenting the profits for those within the alliance.Conversely,retailer-e-commerce platform(ER)alliance tends to increase the optimal retail price and demand across both online and offline channels.Under specific conditions,alliance behavior can also increase the profits of non-alliance members,and the profits derived through alliance channels also exceed those from non-alliance channels.(2)The prevalence of bidirectional free-riding behavior largely remains constant across different alliance configurations.Across these models,bidirectional free-riding typically elevates the equilibrium prices in offline channel while negatively affecting the equilibrium prices in other channel.(3)The effect of cost-sharing shows relative uniformity across the various alliance models.Across all configurations,cost-sharing tends to reduce the manufacturer’s profits.Nonetheless,alliances initiated by the manufacturer can counteract these negative impacts,providing a strategic pathway to bolster CLSC profitability.

Trade credit contracting in a risk-averse supply chain under adverse selection and moral hazard

Trade credit,as an effective tool for integrating and coordinating material,information,and financial flows in supply chain management,is becoming increasingly widespread.We explore how a manufacturer can design optimal trade credit contracts when a risk-averse retailer hides its sales cost information(adverse selection)and selling effort level(moral hazard).We develop incentive models for a risk-averse supply chain when adverse selection and moral hazard coexist,which are then compared with the results under single information asymmetry(moral hazard).Moreover,we analyze the effects of private information and risk-aversion coefficient on contract parameters,selling effort level and the profit or utility of the supply chain.The study shows that when the degree of retailer’s risk aversion is within a certain range,reasonable trade credit contracts designed by the manufacturer can effectively induce the retailer to report its real sales cost and encourage it to exert appropriate effort.Furthermore,we find that the optimal trade credit period,optimal transfer payment,and retailer’s optimal sales effort level under dual information asymmetry are less than those under single information asymmetry.Numerical analysis are conducted to demonstrate the effects of the parameters on decisions and profits.

Supply chain coordination with inventory risk allocation

Unlike the traditional decentralized channel,the drop-shipping channel entails a retailer relaying consumers’orders to the manufacturer,which proceeds to stock the orders and directly ship them to the consumers.This study explores supply chain coordination and product quality in drop-shipping and traditional channels.Specifically,we analyze the performance of both channels under wholesale price and revenue-sharing contracts.Our study yields several key findings.First,the revenue-sharing contract can coordinate both traditional and drop-shipping channels,effectively increasing supply chain performance.Second,given the channel structure,the retailer prefers the wholesale price contract,whereas the manufacturer prefers the revenue-sharing contract.Third,product quality is higher in the drop-shipping channel when demand uncertainty is high.Finally,the implementation of the revenue-sharing contract increases product quality in the traditional channel,whereas it keeps product quality unchanged in the drop-shipping channel.

Research on supply chain management of complex product system based on blockchain

Blockchain technology has attracted worldwide atten-tion,and has strong application potential in complex product system supply chain and other fields.This paper focuses on the supply chain management issues of complex product systems,and combines the technical characteristics of blockchain,such as tamper resistance and strong resistance to destruction,to conduct research on the application of blockchain based supply chain management for complex product systems.The block-chain technology is integrated into functional modules such as business interaction,privacy protection,data storage,and sys-tem services.The application technology architecture of com-plex product system supply chain integrated with blockchain is constructed.The application practice in complex product sys-tem supply chain is carried out.The results show that the sup-ply chain of complex product systems has the functions of traceability,cost reduction,and anti-counterfeiting protection.Finally,the future development direction and research focus of the complex product system supply chain based on blockchain are prospected,which provides a reference for the equipment manufacturing supply chain management in the mili-tary industry.

Supply Chain Management Analysis and Design for a Variety of Economic Scenarios, Including Data and System Administration

Due to the rapid progress of information technology, organizations anticipate significant changes in the planning, scheduling, and optimization aspects of operation and supply chain management (SCM) shortly. Two primary types of risk have an impact on supply chain management and design. The first group deals with the difficulties in matching supply and demand, whereas the second group deals with disruptions to regular business operations. The essay offers a theoretical framework that combines the cooperative efforts of risk assessment and mitigation, which are critical for effectively handling potential supply chain interruptions. This content provides insightful viewpoints on the strategic resources and operational structure needed to improve organizational success. We utilized the partial least squares (PLS) method to address the problem of multicollinearity and measurement mistakes in examining cause-and-effect constructs. The statistical method, Least Squares (PLS), used in structural equation modeling, is based on partial variance. The Partial Least Squares (PLS) strategy uses a two-stage estimate procedure to calculate weights, loadings, and route estimations. Initially, several simple and complex regressions were performed with the provided model. The procedure was repeated until a solution was found, resulting in a set of weights used to determine the latent variable scores. In the second step, non-iterative PLS regression yields loadings, path coefficients, mean scores, and location parameters. According to the structural study, implementing Sustainable Supply Chain Management (SSCM) can significantly improve a business’s operational and financial performance. The findings offer a comprehensive understanding of several elements of supply chain management (SSCM), including information systems, organizational configurations, supply chain network architecture (SCND), and supply chain strategy (SCS). The supply chain is essential for effectively moving goods over great distances and encouraging cooperation between parties. Therefore, these connections are established precisely, quickly, and cheaply via a knowledgeable and efficient supply chain. Two key components are necessary for a supply chain (SC) to be successful: efficient collaboration and the smooth integration of information-sharing platforms.

Organizations regardless of size can take advantage of the market dynamics brought about by globalization.Supply chain management is crucial for large organizations,especially with regard to the costs,complexity,and risks of its large,often global,supply chains.From technology to risk management,learning what it takes to navigate transportation and logistics business management in today’s volatile world is critical.Human migration has accelerated in light of globalization and rapid advances in transportation(particularly aviation)technology.This study investigated the connection between logistics and supply chain management in the age of globalization;reviewed the migration,settlement,and naturalization of Taiwan residents immigrants along the West Coast of the United States;and theoretically analyzed the forces that have led to the construction of the Taiwan residents immigrant community.Taiwan residents immigrants and their settlement are affected by global forces,and factors such as their cross-cultural trade,the characteristics of diasporic communities,and their national identity can provide scholarly and pedagogical insights.

Comparative Analysis and Legal Reflection on the Boundaries of Human Rights Due Diligence in the Supply Chain

As global supply chains become increasingly lengthy and complex, human rights due diligence in the supply chain is becoming a controversial focal point in the accountability of multinational corporations. In recent years, legislative practices in the field of human rights due diligence have shown a trend from voluntary soft law toward mandatory hard law, and from corporate due diligence for their own operations towards extended due diligence for the entire supply chain. However, there is a divergence in national practices regarding the extent to which human rights due diligence should extend along the supply chain and the manner in which it should be incorporated into domestic legal policies. International soft law interpretations surrounding the boundaries of human rights due diligence in the supply chain are decentralized, posing risks of interpretation diversification, boundary blurring, and procedural formalization, as well as risks of misinterpretation and misuse. Meanwhile, some countries and regions are vigorously promoting mandatory legislation on human rights due diligence in the supply chain, which has profound implications for the stability of global supply chains and the international economic and trade order. Against this backdrop, it is crucial to explore the reasonable boundaries of human rights due diligence in the supply chain. Instead of applying a one-size-fits-all approach,the rationality of legal factors and the complexity of practical factors should be considered, applying context-specific measures based on the varying degrees of linkage between companies and negative human rights impacts in the supply chain. China should be particularly wary of the “chilling effect” of mandatory legislation on human rights due diligence in the supply chain, attaching great importance to national supply chain security and international supply chain competitiveness.Additionally,China should actively promote the implementation of voluntary human rights due diligence under the United Nations framework, and accelerate the enhancement of China's discourse power in the international rule-making process in the fields of industry and commerce as well as human rights.

Improving Supply Chain Strategies towards Mitigating the Effect of Crude Oil Theft and Pipeline Vandalism in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry: A Case Study of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)

Generically, SCM may be said to include all activities carried out to ensure proper functioning of the supply chain. The activities included in proper management of a supply chain broadly include logistics activities, planning and control of the flow of information and materials in a firm, management of relationships with other organizations and government intervention, However, crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism are established products supply chain disruptors in Nigeria which are rendering the task of running an efficient petroleum supply chain onerous. This paper aims to establish the importance of effective supply chain strategies for companies in the oil and gas industry with special focus on the Nigerian oil and gas sector and the strategies by which the state oil and gas corporation in this sector may mitigate disruptions to its supply chain. This study investigates the enhancement of supply chain strategies towards meeting the challenge of crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism, using the Nigerian National Corporation (NNPC) as a case study. Based on this study, data were collected from two sources: A summary of incident reports obtained from NNPC and an interview with personnel in the PPMC Department. Incident report refers to a report produced when accidents such as equipment failure, injury, loss of life, or fire occur at the work site. Content analysis is utilized to evaluate data obtained from interview responses, CBN financial stability reports, NDIC annual reports, circulars, banking supervision reports and implementation guidelines. The study found out that NNPC should endeavor to sustain its value chain and ward of pipeline vandals and crude oil thieves by engaging in community partnership, detailing security outfits to ensure its pipelines’ right of way and bridging. Concluded that the oil supply chain of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has been plagued by disruptions in the form of crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism which has had debilitating effects on its value.

An Overview of the Application of Big Data in Supply Chain Management and Adaptation in Nigeria

That the world is a global village is no longer news through the tremendous advancement in the Information Communication Technology (ICT). The metamorphosis of the human data storage and analysis from analogue through the jaguars-loom mainframe computer to the present modern high power processing computers with sextillion bytes storage capacity has prompted discussion of Big Data concept as a tool in managing hitherto all human challenges of complex human system multiplier effects. The supply chain management (SCM) that deals with spatial service delivery that must be safe, efficient, reliable, cheap, transparent, and foreseeable to meet customers’ needs cannot but employ bid data tools in its operation. This study employs secondary data online to review the importance of big data in supply chain management and the levels of adoption in Nigeria. The study revealed that the application of big data tools in SCM and other industrial sectors is synonymous to human and national development. It is therefore recommended that both private and governmental bodies should key into e-transactions for easy data assemblage and analysis for profitable forecasting and policy formation.

Rethinking counterfeit medical supply chains:A critical review of the current literature

The medical device and pharmaceutical industries include a range of drugs,machines,instruments,and apparatuses used to prevent,diagnose,treat disease and illness,or aid in rehabilitation for patients,and are expected to grow substantially in the coming years.However,they are often targets of criminal organizations who manufacture and profit from fraudulent products,infiltrating the market with counterfeit medical supply chains.In this paper,we discuss and analyze the extent and nature of this problem and make suggestions for mitigation and prevention of this worldwide challenge.Ultimately,we argue that a holistic approach is essential to addressing this problem,including the creation and dissemination of reliable and good quality data,developing healthcare systems to be more robust,establishing/enhancing intra‐and international cooperation around this issue,and employing effective technological solutions,such as digital tracing.

The Application of Transaction Cost Theory in Supply Chain Management

As business environments grow more complex, enterprises face challenges in effectively managing supply chain transaction costs. Analysis of the Supply Chain in Industrial Companies in Guayaquil,Ecuador-A Secondary Publication

This research clearly outlines the supply chain in a process of evolution and digital transformation,where the collaboration of its members is concentrated,having technological tools to help chain management.To analyze the advantages that this transformation produces in the supply chain,as well as its different processes,this study has a systemic perspective that involves precise elements for organizational development,such as the different phases of each process,operations,logistics,and distribution.It must be borne in mind that any strategy in industrial companies grants the automation of procedures in the supply chain and determines a product in any phase of production,making the organization more sensitive to any variation in orders.The methodology included a bibliographic and non-experimental review that allows a descriptive and analytical study,which details the various characteristics of the fact that is being investigated,collecting information through interviews with different people who are involved with industrial companies.Among the results obtained,it was identified that digital transformation helps reduce costs and generates greater profitability.In conclusion,it was obtained that the digital supply chain helps in each of the phases of the processes,these are supervised by devices that help to have fast and effective information.

Corporate Social Responsibility and Shipping Supply Chain Risks

This study aims to investigate whether Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR)activities reduce supply chain disruptions by examining the impact of the Suez Canal obstruction on the Ever Given container ship in March 2021.This study conclude that the more responsible companies have higher returns and are less affected by this event than the less responsible companies;the less responsible companies have lower returns.The companies with better CSR have a lower impact on their supply chains when faced with disruptions in the supply chain.

Enhancing Enterprise Efficiency through Cross-Domain Supply Chain Linkage Management

In recent years,with the complexity and variability of international finance,debt,and geopolitical risks,the growth rate of domestic economic operations has slowed down.More enterprise groups are facing the transformation and upgrading from domestic leadership to internationalization,achieving revenue growth of nearly 10 billion yuan per year against the trend.The severe and complex internal and external environment has brought many challenges to the supply chain for enterprises.This article focuses on the goal of an“enterprise supply chain system focusing on value creation,strengthening system linkage,and improving overall chain efficiency,”aiming to find solutions to problems such as strong demand variability,frequent emergency needs,coexistence of project shortages and inventory surplus,long material turnover cycles,and high organizational complexity.By searching for key activities in the entire business chain of demand,design,production,service,and finance,implementing source planning,process control,system linkage,analysis and summary,and team collaboration,we have achieved more scientific demand forecasting,more accurate planning,more effective procurement cost reduction,more stable production performance supply,more convenient inventory sharing services,and more efficient integration of business and financial policies.
