The analysis focuses on translation strategies of dialects and figures of speech. It is suggested that the translator is attempting to fulfill faithfulness to the original text, and highlights utility-seeking in the translation. It not only keeps the style of original text but also considers perception among English readers. The translator has a thorough understanding of the background and theme of the novel to balance truth-seeking and utility-attaining. By analyzing a researcher translator’s inner- and outer-translation behavior and evaluating their effects, this article seeks to provide inspirations and advice for translation and communication of Chinese literature so that it can maintain cultural features and reach readers of other cultural backgrounds.展开更多
