An expectation-confirmation model of information systems (IS) continuance is adapted to construct a research model in online group-buying contexts. A total of 289 complete and valid responses were collected. Our findings contribute to academics and practitioners in two ways: Firstly, our respondents show that they are young (93% of the respondents' ages range between 19 and 28 years old), female (88% of the respondents), and thrifty (82% of the respondents' transaction amounts are below US$16). Secondly, based on our results, price performance expectations have a direct impact on confirmation. In addition, in contrast to the IS continuance model (Bhattacherjee, 2001), the effect of perceived usefulness on satisfaction is not supported. Thus, in online group-buying settings, confirmation is the key antecedent of satisfaction. Satisfaction and perceived usefulness are significantly associated with OGBP continuance intention. Consequently, in addition to offering a wide assortment of merchandise and a convenient online shopping experience to enhance customers' perceived usefulness of OGBP, OGBP managers should aim low-price marketing strategies at this female, young, thrifty and price-sensitive segment to transcend consumers' price expectations and attract consumers' continued intention to visit OGBP.展开更多

This paper presents employer branding as an approach based on effective strategic organizational resources and a precise employer branding management process. In this paper, the target is to define a possible frame in order to interpret employer branding techniques as control and regulation mechanisms. Control in organizations has long been a topic of interest for researchers and practitioners, alike who generally recognize that control mechanisms are needed to ensure that organizations may achieve their goals. It has been carried out a field work on the Italian Aeronautical Meta district, that generates annual revenues equal to EUR 8.7 billion and employees 36,300 people, of whom approximately 10% are employed in the space sector. Through this field work, the intention aim is to understand if and how employer branding may create, enforce, and set up internal and shared meaning and values. In particular, stemming from the empirical research's evidences, this paper tries to conceptualize employer branding as a factor to persuade and influence the way that organizational actors enact in a socially constructed context. In this effort, the aim is to understand how managers may affect meanings, values goals, and opinions through an effective action on employer branding that can play a crucial role in affecting sense-making processes, meanings, interpretations of the symbolic environment. The paper therefore opens up to new horizons, since it embraces a new application for employer branding, considering it as a modern control system and proposing an innovative approach in managerial control, founded on organizational identity as a key concept in an organizational citizenship's perspective展开更多

A questionnaire was distributed to 372 practitioners in various private and government organizations. Practitioners were asked how influential and relevant public relations ethical factors were on the practitioner's perception of ethics. Findings suggest that the daily practice of public relations day-by-day professionally practice learning, senior practitioners, senior executives, and managers along with religion play a major role in shaping the meaning, philosophy, and conception of the practitioner's ethics. Respondents were asked to describe the level of support they would give to the controversial public relations practices that may generate some ethical problems. The majority of the respondents did not agree on the use of "spreading rumors", "providing false information to satisfy the public", "misinformation and manipulation", "giving false promises", and "would not approve favoring personal interest over public interest".展开更多

Bilateral salpingectomy has shown a dramatic reduction in the risk of ovarian cancer. Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy has been a long-used practice to prevent ovarian cancer, but it brings surgical menopause and an increased mortality rate to women undergoing such a surgery at the age of <47.5. With the prophylactic bilateral salpingectomy, however, the ovarian function remains unaltered. Recent studies have shown that prophylactic salpingectomy was helpful not only in preventing high-grade serous type ovarian cancer, but also in decreasing adnexal pathologies. The disconnect between actual production practices and how they are describedis notably affected by advances in technology. Furthermore, practitioners insider language usage, and a lack of understanding between process verses exhibition contributes to the divide within theory and practice of these models. By inspecting how traditional entertainment content is physically produced, making comparisons with the most common production models, the realms of production practices and terminology bring clarity and consistency. The language distinction illuminates any production process and is certainly critical for the producer responsible for putting together an experienced crew to shoot the project and vice versa concerning anyone looking for a job in those communities. Content creation for public consumption is expensive to produce, thus requires experienced people who must perform specific tasks on time and on budget, achieving entertainment goals and bringing in a profitable return. Understanding this information about production models is vital to the student or anyone preparing to be a part of the entertainment community.展开更多

Water and power plant projects following the IWPP (independent water and power plant) approach have typically involved a plethora of risks. Since about 75% of the IWPP projects in SA (Sandi Arabia) have failed to meet specified objectives, effective RM (risk management) implementation is key to the success of any public and private project. Practitioners have related their experience about RM in IWPP projects in SA through semi-structured interviews, and analyzed these through the grounded theory approach to identify the elements leading to ineffectiveness when implementing RM in IWPP projects in SA. This study gathers and collates data to present findings in a propositional diagram that is fully grounded, based on practitioners' experiences that extend to the ineffectiveness of implementing RM in water and power projects, specifically in IWPP projects in SA. Findings indicate that IWPP parties have implemented RM in an informal way. In addition, there is a general lack of RM knowledge in the SA water and power industry. The paper concludes with an emergent diagram illustrating major phenomena, categories and subcategories affecting the implementation of RM in IWPP projects in SA.展开更多

In the actual design process, architects play a major role. But what kinds of knowledge, including research-based knowledge, do practicing architects make use of when designing accessible environments? The answer to the question is crucially important since it affects how knowledge is distributed and how accessibility can be ensured. In order to get first-hand knowledge about the design process and the sources from which they gain knowledge, 11 qualitative interviews were conducted with architects with experience of designing for accessibility. The analysis draws on two theoretical distinctions. The first is research-based knowledge versus knowledge used by architects. The second is context-independent knowledge versus context-dependent knowledge. The practitioners found their primary support in context-dependent knowledge, whereas context-independent knowledge was criticized as being too prescriptive. Further, they tended to ask for assistance from the researcher in person rather than reading research publications. The findings challenge research in two ways--first, to produce context-dependent knowledge to structure the first step of the design process, second, to develop new ways to ensure a knowledge flow between research and practice.展开更多

This study intends to identify the risk inherent in "Design and Build" and also to evaluate the impact of the identified risks on project performance. A descriptive research survey is undertaken for this study. Snowballing sampling technique was used via the use of questionnaires. Population of the study includes contracting organizations, consultants and clients' organizations that are recently involved in "Design and Build" projects. A total of 39 questionnaires were distributed and 27 were returned and used for the analysis. Statistical Package for Social Sciences was used for analyzing the data collected. Descriptive statistical tool of mean item score was employed for the analysis. The results show that the most prominent risk is change in quantity/scope of work in terms of cost related risk while in terms of time related risks the most prominent risk is design changes. Errors and omissions during construction are the risks prominent in terms of quality. In conclusion, "Design and Build" procurement has a lot of inherent, unresolved and undefined cost, time and quality related factors that can trigger off risks that will affect performance of DB project. Implications of this study to practitioners in the construction is such that the findings of this study can create awareness for stakeholders and construction practitioners of the prominent risks that affect DB projects and this can help in better management of future DB projects in Nigeria and other developing countries. Design and Build procurement in spite of these plethora of risks is still strongly recommended for clients, stakeholders and other practitioners in the construction industry for use in their future projects. This procurement method delivers project faster, within cost and offers good quality of workmanship and product to users of this method.展开更多

The study uses a modif ied Urban Tourism Impact (UTI) to examine economic, environmental, and social perceived impacts. Analysis of the data includes testing three models of structural relationships between tourism impacts and support for development in each of the tourism market sub-divisions through a confirmatory factor analysis. The results of this study show that the positive economic impacts consistently exert influence on predicting support for tourism development in all three models. However, the social impacts play a greater explanatory role with all three market segment, the negative environmental impacts play a role in determining support for sport tourism only. Differences have been found with those with a higher education level in predicting support for cultural tourism, but not convention or sport tourism.展开更多

The objective of the current investigation was to look closely at the practice of patients and carers in Nablus-Palestine with regard to disposal of unused or expired medicines. The study was a cross-sectional survey administered via face-to-face structured interviews with randomly selected patients, community pharmacists and physicians from Nablus-Palestine. Two hundred and fifty patients/carers completed a questionnaire regarding medicines disposal current practice, effects on environment, and their views to overcome this problem. Most of the people completing the questionnaire (67%) stated that they throw unwanted medicines in the normal household bins, and about 75% think that this can impose illegal and environmental hazards. Nearly half of the questionnaire showed that main reason for need to dispose medicines was possessing expired ones with almost believe there should be more appropriate way to dispose medicines. About 95% said they have not been directed for safe disposal of medicines with 46% thinking that a national campaign can be very educative in this issue mainly through Ministry of Health (54%) followed by .73% of the sampled patients were in favor of national campaign to direct people to safe disposal of medicines. This pilot study in Nablus clearly highlights the need for appropriate method for safe disposal of medicines in Palestine through guidelines in pharmacies and hospitals. A well organized method for collecting unwanted medicines from people should be encouraged through appropriate teaching of patients and caters about effects of waste medicines on environment as well as being domestic hazard. The data and information is valuable for furthering discussions regarding patients behaviour and also provides a basis for future research into determining what quantities of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are disposed, enter the environment and what effects it can impose.展开更多

Personality factors could predict relationship satisfaction through the influence of individuals' relationship schemas (Fiske and Taylor 1991) and perceptions of their partners (Simpson and Rholes 1998). Given the potential importance of attachment styles to relationship mechanisms and the well-established relationship between attachment and interpersonal behavior (Bartholomew and Horowitz 1992; Hazan and Shaver 1987), interpersonal traits may influence relationship satisfaction directly. According to Leary's (1957) interpersonal reflex theory, any interpersonal act elicits responses from the other person that verify, validate, or otherwise reinforce the actor's own self-image and self-presentation, and thus increase the probability that the actor will emit similar interpersonal acts in future interactions. The Impact Message Inventory (IMI) attempts to measure individuals' perceptions of how others impact them by evoking interpersonal acts such as dominance and affiliation. This study examined the influence of perceived partner-evoked behavior and individuals' own interpersonal styles on relationship satisfaction. This study used IMI measures of evoked Dominance and Affiliation as well as revised Liking and Loving measures to predict relationship satisfaction using three different satisfaction outcome measures. The final analyses included 291 participants (134 men and 157 women) who completed a scantron survey. Partner impact, or the interpersonal behaviors, evoked from the individual during interaction, predicted relationship satisfaction well. Evoked affiliation was the most consistently strong predictor of satisfaction across all three outcome measures. Liking (distinct here from affiliation) is a stronger predictor of relationship satisfaction than is loving (distinct here from passion), and it is significant across all three outcome measures. The liking measure appears to reflect a relatively high level of reward in the relationship and intrinsic enjoyment of the partner's company without the comparative cost of loving. Future research should examine interactions between couples, moving beyond intrapsychic self-reports of perceived experiences and feelings, although these are important in their own right.展开更多

文摘The main purpose of this paper looks to examine notable inconsistencies in language and practice between production practices in film, television, Internet and related production models. Understanding this information about production models is vital to the student or anyone preparing to be a part of the entertainment community.
文摘Worldwide countries are striving to meet demands for water and power, which have been estimated as likely to increase at a rate of 7% per annum over the coming decade. The paper concludes with an emergent diagram illustrating major phenomena, categories and subcategories affecting the implementation of RM in IWPP projects in SA.
文摘Although serious efforts are made internationally and nationally, it is a slow process to make our physical environment accessible. The findings challenge research in two ways--first, to produce context-dependent knowledge to structure the first step of the design process, second, to develop new ways to ensure a knowledge flow between research and practice.
文摘The objectives of this research were to identify and appraising the common dispute problems in domestic and international funded public works projects. The interview and questionnaire method were used in this research. Randomly distributed questionnaire technique was applied to select samples of 390 various construction practitioners consisting of owners, consultants and main contractors to evaluate the severity of the 43 identified dispute factors. This survey found that contract and specification dispute problem was the highest concern among four main dispute problems for construction practitioners. The insufficient working drawing details factor was ranked as the highest overall severity index. The results of the survey also indicated that both domestic and international funded public projects faced moderately severe dispute level among construction team.
文摘The objectives of this paper were to identify and evaluating the common delay factors among owners, consultants and main contractors in building projects in Singapore. The interview and questionnaire method were used in this research. Randomly distributed questionnaire technique was applied to select samples of 74 various construction practitioners consisting of owners, consultants and main contractors to evaluat the severity of the 35 identified delay factors. The project investigated in this study included residential building and office building projects. The results found that delay in progress payment by owner, adverse weather conditions, main contractor financial problems, evaluation of completed works and act of god factor caused mostly severe delay in building construction project.
文摘"Design and Build" procurement method has been in use in Nigeria and this method has been latent with a lot of risks. This procurement method delivers project faster, within cost and offers good quality of workmanship and product to users of this method.

文摘This study examines the urban population of tourism practitioners' perceptions of economic, environmental, and social impacts on cultural, convention, and sport tourism may have in Haikou and Sanya, Hainan, China. Differences have been found with those with a higher education level in predicting support for cultural tourism, but not convention or sport tourism.
文摘The disposal of unwanted and expired medications has been a concern to public health practitioners, and patients alike. The data and information is valuable for furthering discussions regarding patients behaviour and also provides a basis for future research into determining what quantities of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) are disposed, enter the environment and what effects it can impose.
文摘Healthy relationships are important to functioning in daily life and across the life-span (e.g., Burman and Margolin 1992). Future research should examine interactions between couples, moving beyond intrapsychic self-reports of perceived experiences and feelings, although these are important in their own right.
